There are a couple of stories making the rounds, that taken individually, might not pique everyone’s interest for very long, but taken collectively should be sounding alarm bells at the highest levels of what passes for leadership in the Michigan Republican Party.
Especially considering who was the actual cause behind it.
People make resolutions (which they‘ll most likely break before February 1st).
Another session of Congress prepares to ramp up in the midst of a government “shutdown”.
The democrats give President Trump more posturing and obstructionism because…well, illegal aliens (and Americans on the public dole) matter significantly more to them than the safety of the people who actually put them in office in the first place.
Can we expect our constitutional officers to do their jobs appropriately after this year?
What priorities will the new attorney general of Michigan bring to bear on the populace?
It sure as hell won’t be protecting citizens from an over reaching government. Except perhaps for those areas where ‘protecting’ means extending ‘rights’ that don’t exist outside of social norms.
All cultural ills aside, what about Michigan’s firearms protections? What about keeping local feelings about whether or not it is appropriate to be able to defend oneself with a pistol?
Preemption in Michigan has always protected Michigan gun owners from the overtime efforts of ordinances, rules, restrictions, etc. Theoretically, it provided protections for firearms possession by those with a CCW even in school environments up until the Michigan Supreme Court screwed the pooch.
The law still provides protections however, and the municipalities run by even the shadiest left wing whack jobs cannot even prevent firearms from being carried into council meeting environments. That is, unless they are held in a bar or (now) a school.
But in January, priorities change. The Democrats were able to elect the slate they have been pushing for 8-12 years, and what might have once been a state that respected law and order, will now revert to governance by emotion and fear mongering.
Another chapter in the quest to rewrite history that progressives cannot accept.
When Gov. Snyder and Michigan Republicans bailed out the Detroit Public School System and City of Detroit a few years earlier, many posters on this site (myself included), warned everyone that it wouldn’t take long for inept & corrupt former political structure to reassert itself when the time presented itself.
So in the midst of all of the post-election analysis, we’ve heard the “experts” from other outlets drone on about why the 2018 Election went the way it did.
We’ve heard them tell us that this is the vaunted “Blue Wave” sweeping across America. Despite the rash of ballots “miraculously” showing up in places like Florida (and apparently now here) along with Arizona, democrats still only control the House.
We’ve been told that this is the year of the woman. Yet, I’m waiting to hear why superior candidates like Lang and Epstein didn’t benefit from this?
Finally, the media (or infotainment complex…take your pick), dredges up their favorite rationale for last Tuesday Night’s results: It’s all President Trump’s fault.
Let’s just say that Carol Cain’s question right from the start immediately gave Ms. Benson the deer-in-the-headlights appearance for this so-called “Ready-for-Prime-Time” player.
It was Oakland county operatives who committed felony election fraud. Those same operatives were toadies for Benson and other political players masterminding the scheme to defraud voters that year. Michigan Freedom Fund noted this a month ago, but somehow we missed it. (H/T CS)
Benson has been intimately linked to a 2010 election fraud scheme that resulted in nearly a dozen felony charges and two convictions. Benson, who was running an unsuccessful campaign for Secretary of State even then, employed a campaign manager named Jason Bauer. That year, Bauer pled no contest after being charged with multiple felony counts in connection with a voter fraud scheme. Bauer and Michael McGuinness, Jocelyn Benson’s then operations director, were busted forging records to set up dummy candidates in an illegal effort to siphon votes away from Republican candidates in metro Detroit.
To this day, Benson has yet to answer for the election fraud scheme perpetrated by her senior staff members, or to offer any remorse or explanation for her improper handling as a candidate for the state’s top elections post of individuals who were attempting to rig our elections.
Michigan voters need to be reminded of whom it was that tried to manipulate our elections. they need to be reminded that the #PartyOfCrime never quits. Power seeking by illicit players needs to be checked.
And in this case, making Jocelyn Benson Michigan’s Secretary of State is giving the robber the keys to the vault.
Gretch and the Dems are promoting Gilchrist II as a socially conscious black man from the city, who once worked for Obama and is an expert at Twitter. Black, notwithstanding, the neighbors here view him as another profiteering hipster from the suburbs. A guy with connections, a guy who used to work for the mayor, a guy who’s out for himself.
A playa.
What more could would we expect from opportunist Democrat politicians. Who couldn’t see such things coming from leaders of the new #MOB ?
There have always been ideological differences between Ds and Rs and some other variations of the political spectrum.
What has held this country together however, is shared experience, similar desires for prosperity, and common pursuits that are rooted in the similar values. The nation has survived, thrived, and become stronger because of this. Our state and federal constitutions reflect the principle foundations upon which we as society agree to govern ourselves upon.
There are people however, that have been trying to twist those commonalities. Recent suggestions that there is ‘polarization’ in our state and country are largely true. Although conservatives and traditionalists can rightly argue that there has been little shift in their beliefs and mores, there can be no question the separation of ‘left’ and ‘right’ is growing.
We are a nation under siege from within.
In the video on the right, Whitmer’s extremist gubernatorial pick, displays a perfect example of what ‘Change’ has meant since we first heard that simple word used in the 2008 presidential elections.
“Movement to win this election. Because we need a movement to actually lead in Michigan. Movements are what make change happen. Movements are what deliver legislative wins. Movements are how we get to redefine the values in Michigan.”
We are the change we have been waiting for, right?
Former Detroit mayor seeks unlikely relief from well earned berth.
Things that make you go hmm.. Many times over.
[Former?] Thugmaster K wants “to go home.” He says he doesn’t like prison, and is now praying for a pardon from the president. He is a changed man:
Our country has always been the land of 2nd Chances! I am hoping, confidently expecting, that I will have the opportunity to boldly move into the next season of my life; outside of these prison walls. Also, that I will have the opportunity to help someone else get off the floor of despair, failure, brokenness and calamity…then walk courageously, confidently, and powerfully into their own new season, their own destiny.
By God’s grace, I have received a pardon from Him, through Christ Jesus. I pray that I will receive the opportunity for Pardon/Clemency from the President of the United States as well.
Changed.
“White Jesus” notwithstanding, change carries with it some personal responsibility, yes? Just a couple months ago, we saw how he is willing to own up to his former life as a corruptotician. From Click on Detroit
Kilpatrick was also ordered to pay $1,637,087 in restitution. He told the court in February that he doesn’t believe he should have to pay because it’s impossible to calculate the amount of money he took from taxpayers.
No comment necessary.
Other than even the folks out West aren’t writing scripts as good as this.
