So, what do you get when you add a ton of special interest groups who feel that they are even more entitled to your money than you are (and their hopes that you’re not paying any attention to them whatsoever)?
You get the makings for a very interesting (series?) of elections in 2020…that’s what!
Multiple media outlets in Detroit are reporting that the Detroit Institute of Arts will renege on their pledge made after the passage of their Regional Art Tax (aka “Art Institute Authority”) in 2012 and seek a renewal on the March 2020 ballot, two years ahead of its statutory end.
Yeah, I cannot wait to see how they’ll justify spending even more money on “art”?
I’m currently running on very little sleep, but more details to follow…
Buried in the headlines this week between yet another fake news story regarding the pending impeachment of Pres. Trump, fixing Gov Whitmer’s line item frenzy (contrary to the media buzz, there is serious talk behind the scenes pertaining to fixing Gov. Whitmer’s not-so little temper tantrum screw-up) and the comedy of errors with the GM-UAW Strike, this story from Lansing surprising got very little attention.
Which gets even more interesting once you are made aware of what the topic of discussion was all about.
“I did not have sex with that woman” – Pres B.J. Clinton
“If you like your plan you can keep it.” Pres. B.O.
“That’s ridiculous. It’s nonsense and you know it.” – Then Gubernatorial Candidate Gretchen Whitmer responding to a comment that she will raises taxes if elected governor during the Grand Rapids WOOD debate last year.
Jocelyn Benson and Dana Nessel are probably less than enthused.
Less enthused about their prosecutorial discretion, given the fact they must actually dress down one of their own. However, the fact that Southfield Clerk Sherikia L. Hawkins could possibly have been reached at her office, is a testament to the real justice in an election fraud case that these two ‘guardians’ of our vote are willing to pursue. Nessel’s grand opening:
” “Voting is fundamental to the very essence of our democracy,” Nessel said during a Monday news conference. “It is incumbent upon state governments to safeguard the electoral process and ensure that every voter’s right to cast a ballot is protected.” “
Trust us to make this right.
Followed by Benson’s:
Hawkins’ alleged actions, did not alter the outcome of any election, Benson stressed, and “there were no voters that were disenfranchised.”
“All valid votes in the election were ultimately counted and the final official vote total was accurate,” Benson said.
Uh huh.
Downplay the potential damage, right? In other words, “don’t worry, this is a one off, and all the Democrats won where Democrats win.” ‘Writing a letter,’ Benson clearly sent a message however:
Benson said she sent a letter to Hawkins on Monday, saying that the pending charges compromise her ability to administer the upcoming Nov. 5 city election. In the interim, she said, the state’s Bureau of Elections with work with staff in the Southfield clerk’s office to handle all administration of elections in the city.
“My office will remain actively involved” to ensure elections in Southfield run smoothly, Benson said. “Our response is careful, measured, swift and the consequences are severe.”
Because once one reaches Age of Majority (that’s 18 for slow folks), they all of a sudden don’t like bubblegum, Fruit Loops and, apple juice anymore? 🤦♂️ But seriously, Gov. Blue Shamu recently outlawed vaping for minors so, this is just a Democrat nanny-government ploy to tell adults how to conduct their life.
It is also sad to note that the only Republican leadership in Lansing, that appears to be worth a damn is- House Republicans.
On a particularly amusing note, some Boomer Gen acquaintances of mine who have switched to vaping to help them quit smoking are bitching up a storm about this. It tickles me to no end to remind them that they voted for Whitmer.
How unstable can one possibly be to not heed the warning of a 80% rejection from a few years ago to blunder on with a bigger and more dubious fuel tax hike of 45 cents per gallon on top of the last tax hike? Michiganians have no appetite for handing over more of their hard earned money to Lansing, which has been completely irresponsible with its contracts, especially, with favoring the union parasites that endorsed Whitmer. This women is pure evil and, she’s using school-age children as her political agenda hostages as well.
If Gretchen is smart she will sign the damn budget presented to her and, fix the damn roads with the increased funding provided by the Republican Majority without any tax increase. Then again, there is no trusting a snake who has lied throughout her campaign.
