Study: 40% of Michigan Families Can’t Cover Basic Survival Expenses

Huge Decline in Wages for Michigan’s Working Families

Pay Falls for Low-Wage Men yet Women Still Far Behind,” found that real wages of Michigan workers have fallen by more than ten percent since 1979 for broad sections of the working class.

Hourly pay for low-wage workers of “prime working age” in Michigan fell 13.4 percent between 1979-2013, while pay for mid-wage workers of prime age fell 12.7 percent.

The collapse of wages in Michigan also illustrates president Obama’s and Governor Snyder’s “insourcing” policies, which involves pushing for lower corporate taxes and lower living standards and wages for workers in order to make American cities “attractive” for business. Snyder Obama Meet

Speaking at a Milwaukee factory in 2012, Obama celebrated the results of his and Snyder’s “bailout” policies in Michigan as a model for the rest of the country: What’s happening in Detroit can happen in other cities.

Declining work rates, stagnant wages, the rise of female-headed families, inferior education, and the arrival of millions of “immigrants” with poor education and low skills are little engines pushing up the poverty rate.

Thursday Around Michigan

Plenty to talk about before the weekend.

logo-sphereThere is a lot of chatter still going on regarding the convention results, campaign polling, and Frank Foster peddling destructive behavior as a ‘civil right’ throughout the house to those who will cosponsor it.

Before our convention in Grand Traverse County, some of us were advised to video tape the proceedings to prevent shenanigans.  Fortunately, we nipped the chair election in the bud, and any screw ups were honest and dealt with properly. (I have never seen a convention go perfectly as planned.)  Ottawa County apparently had some issues.

And while we all are arguing among ourselves, the heir to the heavily taxpayer subsidized fortune is ‘crankin.’

Channel 7 (WXYZ) – Ronald Illitch Arrested, snorts equivalent to Detroit property tax revenues.

Folks have until Oct 30 to file as a write in for the Nov 4 election. Is Greg MacMaster going to play spoiler or could he pull it off? (above my pay grade)

Peters is being accused of hypocrisy for paying women less and being a part of the group that has jammed the Lilly Ledbetter nonsense down our throats. Forget about all that (seriously Terri, fergetaboudit) and concentrate on the workable populist nonsense.  Like the “right To Have Drinking Water!”

Rick Snyder .. well hell I am not even sure how to present this one.  Yeah, we get it, reach out to everyone (except the base)!  Good luck with that.

The Money Quote

Its the easily missed truisms on display in any article of note, that are Oh-So important.

The Detroit News: “Michigan GOP braces for Tea Party Showdown”

Calley-Face” Calley, who declined to be interviewed for this story, has never publicly opposed the governor on major policy decisions, but routinely says he is “the conservative voice” inside the Snyder administration.  “

Consider this single paragraph for a moment.

The governor has Raised taxes on some, went behind the legislature’s back on the NITC, pushed hard for Obamacare in Michigan, pushes Common Core, hired several Democrats to key positions, bails out Detroit, pushes rail subsidies, and will likely sign on the dotted line when the Elliot Larsen Civil Rights act is presented for modification.  Modified so that dangerous behavior is blessed not only with the ongoing media push, but with the unforgiving and ‘intolerant’ hammer of law on those who disagree with that behavior.

All of which begs the question:  “When does your conservative voice matter Mr Calley?”

Lawlz

Pissant’s unhinged rant of the day.

These extremists are what Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson rightly calls the “Taliban wing” of the GOP.

Ah yes, old Babbling Brooksie is a helluva example.
warning_worlds_oldest_virgin

While the extremists attempt to portray themselves as principled conservatives fighting against what they claim to be Republicans-in-name-only (aka RINOs), the truth is they are the pretenders.

That isn’t to say everyone in the tea party is a conservative pretender.

Far from it, actually.

Unfortunately, the mothers, fathers, grandfathers and grandmothers who filled parks and courthouse lawns four years ago were preyed upon by all sorts of hucksters and grifters, who declared themselves to be the tea party leaders.

They then aligned with extremists, themselves the descendants of the John Birch Society who were rightfully expelled from the conservative movement by Ronald Reagan, William F. Buckley Jr. and Michigan’s own Russell Kirk when these three served as the political and intellectual leaders of conservatism.

That’s why political leaders and activists who were the tea party long before the tea party existed — Macomb County’s Leon Drolet comes to mind — [snip]

Bingo! Where it always leads to if one allows a platform to a moronic Millennial.

Ps. Mush-mouth Buckley’s son turned out to be a pile of dung, too.

Statesman vs Politicians

declaration

STATESMEN VS POLITICIANS :

“The Greatest LIE in American Politics is this: THAT WHAT ONE IS OR DOES IN PRIVATE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW THEY ACT OR RULE IN PUBLIC.
We are told an Officials Political and Private lives are separate. That past failures are not to be considered as evidence of future possibilities. NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH, FOR ONE’S CHARACTER FROM WITHIN WILL BE REVEALED IN DUE TIME, WHILE IN PUBLIC OFFICE. WHILE THE PENDULUM SWINGS, PEOPLES LIVES, LIBERTY, AND PROPERTY HANG IN THE BALANCE.

IF YOU HAVE BEEN A POLITICIAN OR OFFICIAL, WHOSE RHETORIC IS INCONSISTENT, SWAYING WITH THE BREEZES, (or the winds of Donors) ALLIANCES OF THE MOMENT OVER-RIDING LONG TERM PRINCIPLES, WE ARE NOT GOING TO BE FOOLED WITH YOUR CHANGING RHETORIC USED TO HIDE YOUR RECORD.
WE WILL KEEP THE STATESMAN, ELEVATE THOSE WE TRUST, THOSE WHO HAVE STOOD BY US, AND PROMOTE THE REST BACK TO THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF OUR REPUBLIC, THAT OF SIMPLE CITIZEN. PAST SERVICE WILL BE REWARDED WHEN DESERVED, AND DISMISSED WHEN APPROPRIATE.”

(Paraphrased) Plymouth Rock Foundation Executive Director, Paul Jehle
Webster’s Dictionary defines a Statesman as:
1: one versed in the principles or art of government; especially : one actively engaged in conducting the business of a government or in shaping its policies
2: one who exercises political leadership wisely and without narrow partisanship

   Politician is defined as:
1: a person experienced in the art or science of government; especially : one actively engaged in conducting the business of a government
2 a: a person engaged in party politics as a profession b: a person primarily interested in political office for selfish or other narrow usually short-sighted reasons

Rick did say “We Work In Dog Years”

When considering the many consequences of a term limited Governerd, and his unfettered ability to implement a Progressive agenda due to his reliable Generation X underling presiding over the Senate, the Tweet above links to a worthy reminder of what happens when the alleged Conservative facade of Brian Calley is removed.

Progressivism_Woof_WoofNot to mention Calley’s recent “toss ’em a bone” smugness on display in Jim Thienel’s manufactured Oakland County debacle, as if he’s already got the nomination in the bag.

That’s a fact, folks.

Weiser vs. Devos Staffer Smackdown!

Weiser appears ready to distance himself from Devos funded 'Great Lakes Education Project' and the radical activities of its MAIN MAN.

Or not.

We can be fair here.  I have never had a problem with those from all side airing out their concerns (until it becomes redundant and unnecessary torture) on these pages.  In an attempt to set the record straight before next weekend’s main event, Ron Weiser addresses the specific rumors/charges/accusations made against him in an email blast that we reprint in whole below the fold.

In the mean time, lets allow the spirit of his writing put the pressure on those in the MiGOP apparatus who are insane enough to disagree with the esteemed Mr Weiser on some very KEY points.  Weiser is clear enough in his letter, so that we know that:

  • Homosexual marriage is a bad idea Mmk?  Ron is quite obviously PRO Traditional marriage, and he is standing up and saying so.  If you are PRO Homo (GHEY ‘marriage’) You are a BAD Republican.  Obviously.
  • Common Core is also BAD Mmk?  Ron expressly disagrees with his wife, and is willing to endure interesting dinner conversations to stand on his principles.  That crazy common core is wrecking our education system and he’ll quarter NONE of it at U of M, and states he would actively oppose it.
  • GLEP and its Devos funded operator Greg McNeilly supports both of these, and Ron says will no longer be supporting GLEP financially, and has not since 2008.  BRAVO! Greg McNeilley, who supports (and participated in) both Ghey ‘Marriage’ and Common Core,  promotes the top two items through GLEP and his own personal PUBLIC displays, and THAT is enough for Ron Weiser who opposes GLEP and the Devos hired pop-gun McNeilley and his mechanization within the Republican party.  Weiser and McNeilly, and perhaps McNeilly’s paycheck, DeVos by extension, must surely be natural enemies.

We are with you Mr Weiser.  You gotta be careful who you hang with.

However, in the future, please feel free to be more direct and name names a little faster Ron.  You know who they are, but we had to put the connected dots out there for you.  No need to be coy, Mr Regent-to-be.

The letter as promised, in its entirety for full context below.
