To Serve….

Again, I ask Why?

Attempts by the Kalamazoo Gazette to reach Wagner through his union, the Michigan State Police Troopers Association, were unsuccessful. Wagner has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation by MSP that is ongoing.

Nothing like having an emotionally unstable cop ginned up on adrenaline and lethal force in hand. That young woman was seconds away from being another one of far too many "justifiable homicides" dished out by law enforcement.

Prior to the day we won back our Freedom To Work in December 2012, I had the utmost respect for our State Troopers and erroneously considered them "a cut above".

But on that day, as I defended the front of the Sanctuary tent on the Capitol lawn, while dodging beer cans, liquor bottles, ice cubes, rocks, sticks and protest signs being slammed down on our heads- I saw a dozen troopers observing the felonious assaults from 30 yrds away while standing at the top of the stairs leading into the Capitol building.

My friend Norm Hughes made his way over to them and urged them to gain control of the mob of their union brothers attacking us- before someone was badly injured.

    And they laughed at him.

In my mind, the video doesn't show an isolated incident- it vividly illustrates a widespread lack of discipline, professionalism, and an absolute disregard for the rule of law in the Michigan State Police.

Agreed, I don't think this is his first time pulling that type of crap. I think the girl's dad did what a good father would do and that is step in to find out what happened and raise hell as required. Too often people take that crap from the "authority" figures and meekly tolerate it. We make the mistake of equating nobility to "authority" figures that they do not deserve.

The authorities, I think, are afraid of us. They know that slowly but surely, more and more people are waking up to the fact that their rights are not dictated by the "authorities", and they are reacting accordingly.

I stood up to a Montmoroncy County Sheriff's deputy over my 4th amendment rights a few years back. It wasn't a pleasant experience, but I prevailed. I'm sure I have a target on my back when in the county.

The Kazoo news story gives details that say that the law did the right thing, in the right circumstances, considering todays attitudes, fostered by some, of contempt for laws that they ignore and those who inforce them.

In this particular instance from the trooper's own camera, it didn't appear that the young girl was resistant, mouthy, and I don't believe she pulled a gun. It did appear that the trooper is an overbearing punk and by his actions diminishes the profession and others who know how to act like grown ups while wearing the uniform. You stick up for the overbearing bastard, I'll stand with the girl and her dad.

Oh, and have a nice day.

I think what scares me about it, is that many young folks will make a dumb decision that could trigger a guy like this. Not good.

              Exactly.

But, it doesn't have to be just a kid and it doesn't even have to be a dumb decision. It could be something as simple as knowing what one's rights are under the Constitution and daring to point that out to the officer which triggers his violent reaction. Been there, done that.

According to a friend of mine who is with the East Lansing P.D. there is a subset of LEOs who sneeringly refer to those of us who know and exercise our rights as "soverign citizens". Think Tea Party.
