Today, I had the displeasure of receiving an email from disgraced outgoing MIGOP Chairwoman Laura Cox.
Having already failed her state and her nation by allowing massive voter fraud to take place on election day, Cox is coming back to finish the job.
In her email, she spun a yarn about 10th District GOP Committee Chair Stan Grot receiving a payout with MIGOP funds allegedly negotiated by then-Chairman Ron Weiser.
“There is clear evidence that a secret deal was made between Ron Weiser and Stan Grot. Between August 20, 2018 and February 12, 2019, Stan Grot was paid the sum of $200,000 – within only 7 months — from the Party’s Administrative Account. The payments were made so he would withdraw as a candidate for Secretary of State and ensure the party nominated Mary Treder Lang at the August 2018 convention,” Cox said.
Where’s Laura’s proof? Trust her, she says. She’s been investigating this Weiser/Grot thing while she should have been rooting out voter fraud. Laura acts like the unwillingness of Weiser and Grot to humor her cynical witch hunt is somehow proof of their culpability.
This supposed Weiser/Grot arrangement is something she has known about and has been working on for a long time, since at least 2019, Laura makes clear in her email. She apparently knew about it when she dropped out of the race and endorsed Weiser weeks ago. She didn’t care then, so why now? What has changed?
Cox also appointed Grot to the budget committee while serving as MIGOP Chair. Cox appointed a man in Grot (who she now implies is a grifter and a thief) to a position where that man would be overseeing funds spent by the state party. She didn’t care then, so why now? What has changed?
Here’s what has changed: The Republican establishment is now steadfastly dedicated to purging all pro-Trump forces from the GOP. They don’t care if this dooms our party, our nation, or our civilization. After Jan. 6, they smell blood in the water, and they want to go back to the good ol’ days of losing with honor and getting kicked around by the Democrats.
Incoming chairman Ron Weiser, an establishment figure if there ever was one, has stood by his co-chair Meshawn Maddock after a media-initiated firestorm demanded her scalp. Maddock was guilty of the crime of attending and organizing peaceful protests in favor of Trump. That’s a hate crime in Biden’s America.
Cox, perhaps after talking with a Romney or a DeVos or a Meijer, is seizing upon an opportunity to cling to relevance. She has no qualms about hurting the Republican Party to improve her own standing. She didn’t care that she squandered two winnable seats in the state House and Senate in 2018, getting beaten by a Democrat no-name because she sat on her lazy ass and never campaigned. She had no shame exploiting her connections to be coronated MIGOP Chair despite no qualifications and an immediate record of abject failure.
Laura’s attorney and career politician hubby, Mike, has made it abundantly clear what the Cox family thinks of the Republican grassroots:
@ronweiser @meshawnmaria Agree Benson is a Twitter hack and POTUS accomplished much. But he lost and conceded! Joining a FB group talking civil war? Did U miss every grade + high school history class during some prior pandemic? Disgusting! https://t.co/tndQvo2yLR via @freep

The mask is off these days, and we are seeing who among us is a patriot and who is a coward. Weiser, to his great credit, has stood strong when it matters the most. Cox has shown herself to be the snake that many of us always knew her to be. Do not listen to her unsubstantiated conspiracy nonsense. On Saturday we must retire this swamp rat, with her pervert used-car-salesman husband, for good.
