You have a “conservative” majority in the Michigan House.

You have a guy who only slapped on a republican moniker after his name because he knew that was the only chance that he had of ever getting elected governor back in ’10.

And with only 9 scheduled days left in your term (after today), you want to literally relieve yourself in the punch bowl and gleefully hand out samples to Michigan Motorists telling them it actually is Dom Perignon because…

Gary Peters, Governerd Rick Snyder, and Gun Control

Bloomberg has a story about the “Paltry” Democrat freshman class, whose only lawmaker elected is Gary Peters of Michigan.

Michigan is a good example of why the efforts to repeal the 17th Amendment makes clear sense.  The framers of the constitution intended for senators to be picked by the legislatures of the respective states, and for the past four years in Michigan and for the future four years, Michigan will be dominated by Republicans.  If the 17th Amendment had never been instituted a hundred years ago by progressivist constitution destroyers, it is highly unlikely that Michigan would have either Debbie Stabenow or the newly elected Gary Peters as senators, since they are both Democrats.

But to truly understand who the voters of Michigan picked as their newest Senator, you really do not need to go any further than Bloomberg.

Michael BloombergAfter leaving elected office as mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, the anti-Second Amendment billionaire, has been working to be the counterweight to the NRA.  He is the founder and owner of Bloomberg LP.  He means business on gun control, and flexed his muscle in the 2014 elections by contributing over $20 million dollars.  It is worth noting that he did not spend his money for short term gain alone, he is in it for the long haul, spending $50 million to start a  grassroots gun control network called Everytown that claims to be for gun safety, but it is for gun control.  Above education, above immigration, gun control is Bloomberg’s number one issue, and he is focusing all of his attention and resources toward it.  As he told the New York Times, “You have to be careful if there’s two issues you care about, and they’re good on one, bad on the other, what do you do? And I think you’ve got to pick your issue. In our case, my case, it’s guns,” he told the New York Times. “I care very much about immigration. But guns are the No. 1 thing.”

Are state taxpayers able to assign a dollar value on the Nerd’s $195,000,000 Grand “Bargain” for Ron? Sure we can – nerdy CPA’s haven’t cornered the market on owning “dashboards” yet – $17,330.25 per vote.

Add to this, taxpayers bankrolling the gifted $260,000,000 to the Ilitch family bringing the total to $455,000,000 funneled into Detroit, on just those two items alone, then it becomes – $40,437.26 per vote.

Michigan 2014 Election Results

Governor: 51-47 for Rick Snyder. Much closer than his blowout in 2010, but good enough for a second term.

Senate: 41-55 for Gary Peters. Peters ran a good campaign. Land was a disaster. Maybe someday the Michigan GOP will find a good Senate candidate.

AG: 52-44 for Bill Schuette. Schuette for Governor in 2018!

SOS: 54-43 for Ruth Johnson over a token opponent. Perhaps Ruth will challenge Stabenow in 2018.
The two referenda on wolf hunting both failed, 55-45 and 64-36. Only the opponents of wolf hunting spent money here.

Supreme Court was 32-29-21-14 for Zahra (R,I) and Bernstein (D), who spent 2 million of his own money to win this seat. David Viviano won the partial term 62-29.

Education Boards. Republicans appear to have picked a seat on the MSU board with Melanie Foster, but lost all the other ed board seats. This is very disappointing considering the circumstances. Third party candidates probably cost us several seats here.

The average price of gas in Michigan is $ 3.10 a gallon for regular while the average is $3.06 in the metropolitan Detroit area.

In Monroe, gas has been hovering as low as $ 2.85 this week.

Ms. Hiltz sees the trend in prices declining throughout November and into December, and said it is possible for the state average to drop below $ 3, which hasn’t happened since 2010.

Notice how many in the linked article have been so conditioned that they’re *thankful* gas is around $3 when just a decade ago it was $1.44 a gallon? Sheeple were made to be shorn.

Keep that in mind for the Lame Duck in Lansing, if/when the Nerd is unleashed with his wholesale tax agenda & registration fee hike.

Top Republican Hails Foolish Busy Work He Voted For

Anyone ever shakes hands with this guy, they might want to count their fingers when they’re done.

So, what are some of the highlights?

The current and next-generation Volt will continue to be built at GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant.

The Volt has not met sales expectations set in 2011 by former CEO Dan Akerson, who wanted production to hit 60,000 annually by 2012. Since the plug-in hybrid was launched in late 2010, GM has sold about 69,000. Last year, GM lowered the price by $5,000 to boost sales.

Barra would not give volume targets for the newest Volt, saying she thinks GM has learned its lessons from sharing overly optimistic sales goals.

Barra wouldn’t comment on whether the Volt is profitable; she said GM doesn’t comment on profitability of specific car lines. She also declined to say whether the sticker price of the 2015 Volt would be lower, and wouldn’t say if it would be offered in multiple models.

It’s a shame that they couldn’t cut this down into a :60 spot (or at least break it up among several spots). You couldn’t make the point any clearer (Especially after the democrats recent fundraising appearance for a governor who makes Granholm look like an off-the-charts genius).

Granted, this was shot in Chicago. But the subject matter is easily applicable to Detroit as well.

Should also give the trolls lurking from the other side (like Christine, Eric, that husband/wife team from the-site-that-shall-not-be-named), something to mull over…and dread.

Freep Editorial Board Endorses ‘Slow Progressivism’

Seeing little difference, the Ivory Tower goes with the 'devil they know'

happy-snyderThe Detroit Free Press has joined liberal Bill Milliken in endorsing a continuation of Rick Snyder’s governorship.

Admitting that it prefers the more effective measures of sliding towards progressive goals, it endorsed Rick Snyder over Mark Schauer. The Ivory Tower editorial board suggests that it doesn’t think that Schauer can accomplish its wishes.

Schauer says he’ll shape state government according to the progressive values the Free Press Editorial Board believes are embedded in Michigan’s DNA — expansion of civil rights, protections for workers, environmental stewardship, plus investment in schools, roads and the social safety net.

But only one candidate could bring his agenda into practical, achievable focus. And so by the narrowest of margins, with keen reservations, the Free Press endorses RICK SNYDER for a second, four-year term as Michigan’s governor.

Of course when they say “his agenda,” they mean the governor’s.

However, for those of us who question the anti transparency veto, higher gas taxes, ‘cool cities’, trains, [Granholm agenda item[ NITC,  welfare expansion, growing the Michigan budget, Elliot Larsen signalling to special right pro-homosexual groups, bailouts to progressive bastions, and failure to fully defend Michiganians’ right to keep and bear arms? We see little difference.

We know they do too.
