John James Needs to Clarify his Statement

Anytime one sees a person aligned with Mitt Romney, they really should have strong reservations about voting for said person.

Michigan Republican Senate candidate John James described expanding background checks in an interview as among the “reasonable things to consider.”

Wrong!

    Agree! Not good for 2A.

He's doing it again. "James said he’s open to discussions on background checks"

Thanks for posting this article. And, yes, James does come across as all over the map on President Trump, and on 2A.

James said he’s open to discussions on background checks but didn’t commit to supporting any specific legislation and also highlighted a need to address gun violence as a mental health issue. The National Rifle Association endorsed James in 2018 in part because he opposed background checks.

The 38-year-old was in high school when the mass shooting at Columbine High School rocked the nation. Now he’s a father who recently dropped his son off to his first day of kindergarten.

“We need to make sure that we protect our babies,” James said. “But we also need to make sure we protect our rights, I willing to have a conversation with anyone to do both."

James said background checks would not have stopped many mass shootings, but that doesn’t mean “we throw our hands up and give up.”

      A non-position position.

      Not good.
