Succumbing to fear porn (or how to utterly destroy Michigan’s economy in one easy step).

If you’re like me, you were probably looking forward towards traveling around our state with family & friends over the spring and summer to enjoy the amenities that it has to offer. Maintaining traditions like those are one of the things that I had enjoyed about living in our state.

That was how things used to be.

Welcome to the “new normal”.

{More on that troubling reality below}

At the beginning, there was a bit of uncertainty relating to how things were going to shape up this year thanks to the Wuhan virus. Instead of rationally looking at a problem, using previous experience with similar pandemics as a guide (i.e. TB, SARS, Hong Kong Flu), most elected officials made the consciously decision to throw away that playbook and instead opted to use the tried and true method of fear to see how much shenanigans they could get away with.

They could not have been any more satisfied with their results.

Here in Michigan, our governor unilaterally took it upon herself to effectively place the entire state under house arrest, all in the name of “safety”.

She took it upon herself to shut down the entire public school system, throwing the previous school year into chaos by tasking it to perform something that is was never designed (and in some cases willing) to perform. All in the name of “safety”.

She practically wore herself out signing an almost endless litany of executive orders to impose protocols on Michiganians, not only during the initial lockup phase, but as a condition of her releasing us from them. Again, all in the name of “safety”.

“You’ll thank me later,” she gleefully mused to herself.

But in the end, she ended up not only knee-capping Michigan’s economy (it’s still curled up in a ball on the ground wincing in pain) but also blew at least a $6-billion hole in process to the state’s budget.

Her actions directly caused Michigan’s unemployment rate to shoot from just under 4% at the beginning of the year, to nearly 25%. The latest numbers peg it at around 21%. Good luck paying your bills, or even the taxes to plug the above hole in the budget with no money coming in.

So, when we were able to enjoy our God-given Freedoms again, I was cautiously optimistic that 2020 would be salvageable.

Businesses were “allowed” to re-open.

Michiganians were “allowed” to return to work.

Local government was directly accessible to its citizens again.

It wouldn’t be long before we could again enjoy those local customs.

That assessment could not have been any more off target.

Those aforementioned protocols Gov. Witless enacted were a logistical and legal nightmare for local organizers to navigate.

Good luck attending a Memorial Day Parade in your community. Fireworks were also out due to “safety”.

Locally, Blue Water Fest, Bay Rama Fest, Pickerel Festival, Good Old Days, Armada Fair, Selfridge Air Show, Thunder Over Michigan and now Romeo Peach Festival have all been cancelled.

Michigan United for Liberty had tried organizing two events; Sunday Funday in Lansing and Liberty Fest in Holly. The first was cancelled when BLM scheduled a protest and subsequent riot on the same day in Lansing. The second was scrubbed when the building owners were contacted by the Holly PD who told them in no uncertain terms that they would be cited and face potential legal action.

It is so reassuring when you have local law enforcement upholding their oaths to support and defend our Constitution.

So, fairs and festivals are out. At least we still have local cultural institutions, right?

Not so fast.

Yes, many local museums have announced plans for re-opening. However, caveat emptor (and your Fourth Amendment Rights be damned)!

In order to receive “permission” to re-open. Those institutions obediently bent their knee, kissed her ring and dutifully adopted her “required” protocols.

Want to visit the Henry Ford? Greenfield Village?

Enjoy their medical security theater regulations, including mandatory masks, as a condition for visiting. Don’t try to claim any medical exemptions…they will NOT allow you to visit most of the museum complex if you do not wear one.

Want to visit the Michigan Science Center or Detroit Historical Museum? Before you go remember; medical security theater regulations are in effect there, too.

What about elsewhere in our state?

How about the State Capitol or the Michigan Historical Center?

Medical security theater protocols for the former. The latter is unfortunately closed.

What about the Air Zoo?

You will very cheerfully be told to abide by medical security theater protocols.

Van Andel Museum? Yankee Air Force?

See above (and ditto).

I cannot speak for anyone else’s experience, but my family includes a number of nieces and nephews who are on the young side. The entire debacle with their schooling has been enough of a pain in the backside. They are NOT going to do well with the medical security theater, nor will they wear a mask all day. Last week’s 90-something temperatures (don’t even ask about the heat index) give me even less incentive to follow any asinine “orders”.

Speaking of performing medical security theater, just in case anyone is interested, the good people at Michigan United for Liberty have put out a listing (including some of the above institutions), that you may find useful in knowing which locations to do more thorough research before visiting. If there is anyone you may have come across not listed, feel free to add them here. Your input would be greatly appreciated!

Let me bottom line it here: Most people are not stupid. We are responsible individuals and know how to best manage our own safety and that of our families. We do not need a megalomaniac overstepping the authority of her office by issuing illegal and unconstitutional order in the process.

We have two choices here: We can either acquiesce to the governor’s “commands” or we can stand on principle and more importantly for our Liberty.
As much as I regret writing this, and I really do enjoy visiting those places above, my family will NOT be visiting (more importantly NOT spending our money, either) while these protocols are in place.

That also means we will NOT be spending any of our money on amenities along the way in Michigan.

And just in case people think that means we’re only going to stay home, there are other states where we can visit and who will be more than happy to accept our money without the hassle.

Just keep digging, governor.

Just keep digging.

Actually, Whitmer has proven with EO 2020-147 there is no such thing as private property in Michigan, as retailers are now agents of The State with enforcement of her order.

To those retailers who refuse to become enforcement agents of The State, they have my unyielding financial support.

To the retailers who choose to become additional enforcement agents of The State- fuck 'em forever. They'll never see another penny from me. Get woke, go broke.

Lets deal with facts here: 1. The common cold is a coronovirus (fact) 2. There is no such thing as a healthy sick person or asymptomatic. (Fact) i.e., testing positive for CCP antibodies and not knowing they had it. There were symptoms that were not bothersome like waking up with a mild sore throat, or a runny nose, some symptom. I actually know of a family now testing positive for Covid and the only sickness this family suffered together was food poisoning. (Well reported food poisoning outbreak from tainted eggs.) The symptoms were consistent for food poisoning NOT covid, yet all six members in this family have tested positive with CCP antibodies. Go figure. Oh, yeah, did I say this was December 2019? That they live in a university town that is a CCP virus hot spot? Was this caused by foreign students flying back to school after Thanksgiving and Chinese New Year holidays? 3. FACT: Masks violate OSHA regulations for workers in that it lowers their oxygen intake throughout the day to dangerous levels. Where's OSHA when you need them. 4. FACT: Masks do not prevent the virus. You'd be better off wearing a helmet to protect you from a piano falling on your head. 5. And this has been really bothering me...knit-Whit does not have the authority to demand you wear burka clothing; nor can she order masks without providing the funding to us to purchase this equipment and cannot fine you for exerting your constitutional rights. You know, the one that says you are free from government interference of your body, papers and things. Lastly, Whitmer obviously flunked science.

It's not about science. It's about control, and Democrat mail in ballot voting fraud.

CS, agree with you 100% but gretch keeps using "science" when spewing her crap. Thought I'd share a little. She is intellectually insulting. She absolutely does not have the authority to criminalize failure to wear a mask---AND, SHE KNOWS IT. So, she does it until she's caught? SHE NEEDS TO BE REMOVED. While recall is okay, IMPEACHMENT IS FASTER FOR HER, SOS AND AG.
