One of my bigger disappointments is in not being able to convince the grassroots of the importance of protecting, promoting, and growing the TEA Party brand, and especially in light of the nearly continuous attacks from the MSM, and national and local leaders and members of both parties.

IMHO, it can still be done, but it will take a bit longer to recover from the unanswered attacks from all of the above.

You and I are on the same page here. As I pointed out nearly three months ago, the tea movement's problem is that we weren't vigilant to the crap within our own ranks. Yes, the movement can still accomplish its original end goals, but now the job is four times harder than it needed to be. As a starting point, I'll note that recall season is opening soon.

IMO, the TEA parties across the country, and particularly those who are here among us, could relatively easily enjoy the same phenomenon that Congress does.

Congress' favorable rating is extremely low, as is the TEA Party, but many think their Congressman isn't all that bad.

The local TEA Party could achieve similar public standing by simply doing good things for their communities like Christmas In April for senior citizen homeowners needing some help, food drives, building wheelchair ramps for veterans, clothing drives, cleaning up roadways and having road signs installed by the county road commissions that publicize their good deeds for all to see, and many other things that generate good will.

When the general public sees these kinds of things on a regular basis, many will start seeing us in a different light, and some will even consider joining us.

But alas, some in my Lakes Area TEA Party have strongly considered changing our name instead. And when I point out the new name isn't immune to the same propaganda or attacks, I get nothing.
