Are Guns Next?

Expect cigarette sting operations to be in full swing in the peoples republic of Ann Arbor this winter

Got-A-SmokeOne thing that the Democrats are good at, is ‘Nanny Statism’

If in any particular form it poses a health risk, you better damned well believe it can fall under a federal mandate, state law or local ordinance.  Democrats, progressives, and big-government little-minds know what is best for you.  Even if they can hardly manage their own lives, its for your own good.

So it comes as no surprise that Ann Arbor, bastion of elitist progressive nincompoopery has decided that unless you have obtained the age of 21, you cannot buy smokes in their little Utopian safe-space paradise. From Cap-Con:

“The Ann Arbor City Council last week voted for an ordinance that will ban the sale of tobacco products to people under 21, making it the first city in Michigan to raise the legal purchasing age from 18.”

So, has Ann Arbor made the statement that its population does not mature quickly enough to make such decisions?

Next up, no recruiting by the military of anyone under 25?

Oh..

Because flat out prohibition has worked out so well when it came to things like pot and alcohol and "R" rated movies....

If the kids don"t get what they want in A^2, all they'll do is go over to Ypsi, Milan, Bellevelle or Chelsea and find someone running a C-store who wants to make a easy buck.

For a college town, the people running things there, really aren't very smart.

As 10x25, many others here and countless others have illustrated in their own localities or even on the Capital lawn itself..state law or even the state constitution itself means absolutely nothing to those pushing their agenda or covering up for someone else's.

Both parties here in Michigan (especially with any meaningful 'conservative' voices effectively pocketed away) have their foots planted squarely on the gas pedal/smashed to the floor while grinningly holding hands on the(ir) historic race to the(ir) lame duck.

It does not matter (anymore) if anything enacted is legal, not or effectively struck down at some later date.

'Optics' is everything in the fall/winter of 2016. Painting anybody in favor of cigarettes (period; no matter the details) is but another 'stroke' in their extremely patient paint by number world.
