Absentee Common Sense

A reasonable absentee system already showing signs of stress.

We are told that opposing mail-in voting is “suppressing the vote.”

We are told this by the progressive left which has designs on permanent minority rule, ala socialism.  Clearly, opposition to fraud is straight up patriotic IMO, and one has only to look at those who promote such dangerous (to our Republic) activity to know what the right position is on this.

Mail-in voting, while related to absentee voting, is not quite the same.  Absentee voting has historically had a fairly reliable record.  Even with the substantial damage done to it by Michigan’s proposal 3 in 2018, it was – and has been considered ‘safe and trustworthy.’

Even so, there are issues that apparently need to be managed better, and may give pause to expanding such issues legislatively.  The August primary in Michigan has already revealed that even with Absentee voting.

There appears to be evidence of attempted fraud. Today’s Epoch times reports:

More than 10,000 ballots mailed in to election officials in Michigan will not be counted, primarily because they arrived late.

Of the approximately 10,600 rejected absentee ballots, 6,405 weren’t counted because they arrived late, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, a Democrat, announced on Aug. 14. Another 1,438 ballots lacked a signature, while 787 had signatures that didn’t match.

More than 1,100 people had moved, invalidating their attempts to vote. And 846 ballots were from people who died after voting.

This was with a modified version of absentee balloting.

Ballot applications were sent out contrary to state law by the Secretary of State’s office (See MCL 168.931a), and the results were likely predictable.  People rushing headlong into death were clearly concerned about who would represent them, some voters forgot how to make their mark, and some simply didn’t care.

This was also only a primary.  It was a test.

It will help bad people determine what and where certain activities can be applied successfully.  Guaranteed that not all of the bad was caught.

If anyone thinks that signature checking alone will prevent this type of fraud in a more expansive version of non-present voting, they need their head examined.  Can you imagine a radically larger number of mailed-in votes to be processed in a general election?

Ask the question what happens if counting is allowed to occur beyond the election day.  The Michigan supreme court has fortunately said no-way to such nonsense.  Hopefully lawmakers will avoid passage of bills that will allow post election day processing going forward.

Michigan is NOT Florida.

Voters should show up and vote. The responsibility to select our leaders requires so little real work, yet the left pretends it’s difficulty is insurmountable.

Our representatives need to be strong in fighting any effort to further erode the sanctity of our democratic processes.

Don’t let anyone give you crap like “..but there has never been any voter fraud!”  You know better, and even that shady snake Benson is admitting it.

Say no to mail-in voting.   And say no to the irreversible increase in fraud that is already now underway.

    1. If you cast a vote and then died, YOUR VOTE STILL COUNTS. There is case law on this. If you were alive enough to vote, and your ballot was timely returned, the fact that you died before the election is of no matter.
    2. If envelopes returned without signatures, the clerks have a duty to contact the voter correct this error if time allows. Our clerk did, in fact, do this very same thing to a member of my family. He went up to the clerk's office, voided the old ballot, got a new one signed it and alls was well.
    3. Signatures not matching??? As folks age, and palsy sets in, there's a good chance that signatures decline. I doubt if any clerks are expert signature specialists. The proper way to handle it is challenge the ballot, not arbitrarily dismiss the ballot.

As for ballots arriving late--SOL for these. That is why AV ballots should be hand-delivered to the clerk's office. They all have drop boxes, so use them.

Now, if you want to make sure that your ballot counts, do a write-in on a non-essential part of the ballot like dog catcher. These ballots go into a special bin for write-in retrieval at the end of the night. I know for a fact my ballot counted. there were three of us, we all made the same 2 write-ins and at the end of the night, there were six write-ins noted on the tape.

We need an army of AV precinct challengers throughout the state just so the issues above are not neglected. Remember, Trump won the state in 2016 by just a little over 10K votes, about the same number of AV ballots disqualified in this primary.

Lastly, with only a 35% voter turn out, and milages passing almost 100% across the board, it is shameful that 35% of registered voters decided your property taxes for the next 5 to 10 years. I can't say it enough--primary elections are the courtesy to the 2 parties, not real elections. Independents and members of other parties often do not show up to vote in these primaries where they don't have a candidate in the game. Millage and ballot proposal should NEVER BE ALLOWED ON PRIMARY, two party system BALLOTS. There needs to be a law.

Items 1, 2, and 3.... see comment above.

Ps. spot on about primary ballots and milages, however, the Lansing Swamp will never address that because doing so ultimately puts the Tax-and-Spend burden back onto them with merely addressing it.

Welcome ma’am. Sorry for sometimes being curt, or crude but, my days of playing around appeasing everyone’s sensitive sensibilities are out the window. No longer youthful. Played that game since the Powells and Kasichs of the 1990s.

Fuck them. Should’ve been said then.

All should’ve so we wouldn’t be where we’re at today with a desperate Swamp trying to take our voice away- President Donald J. Trump.

          That’s the reality.
