The Butterfly Effect

What happens when a radically unique species is introduced into a 'stable' environment?

Truthfully, its hard to not appreciate ‘The Donald.’

Sure, he’s given vast amounts of money to the bad actors over the years, been a buffoonish character on the ‘tele.’ and has pretty much enjoyed cronyism in his business dealings over the years with great success. Normally, one might expect all of this to be objectionable to conservative stalwarts who respect common sense and real free markets.

trumpedSomehow, the largely forgotten weaknesses in the Trump character is conveniently overlooked as he lambastes the existing federal mess of allowing importation of criminals through our porous borders, as he pummels current foreign policy (specifically handling of ISIS and China), and all the while reminds us of his fabulous wealth. He is indeed a self reliant, self promotions artist.

“I don’t need anybody’s money. It’s nice. I don’t need anybody’s money. I’m using my own money. I’m not using the lobbyists. I’m not using donors. I don’t care. I’m really rich”

And yes, yes he is. Even by Michigan’s ‘wooden shoe ghey mafia’ standards.

Donald Trump has been able to break through the hardened shells of ‘extreme right wingers’ conservative wall with nothing more than simple truths, said in such a way as to suggest that he wouldn’t fold on them like ‘snuggles the bear’ brand toilet tissue; something so easily accomplished by today’s milquetoast Republican sock monkeys.

Even when confronted with the audacity of his position with abortion-on-demand, many on the right still offer support for [at least] the boldness of Trump’s political incorrectness, if not the for man himself. A frustrated conservative might find it hard to not respect a person who can basically give the Republican establishment a well deserved middle finger.

In fact, Trump not only serves up the middle digit, but offers a full Italian one arm salute to boot.  This is not really normal to most.

But does Trump really give Republicans a bad name?

Can one individual’s braggadocio glibness, coupled with a perceived callous insensitivity to illegals cause folks to see all Republicans as bad guys any more than the willful deceit and pandering that many politicos engage in to be elected?  Can Trump’s history of support to Democrats, payoffs to politicians, and seemingly un-republican stances sour those who hold the grand-old-party platform dear?

Apparently so. For now anyhow.

As long as other Republican politicians continue to lie to their base and defecate on promises made, its hard for many of us to see the difference.  And as a bonus, Trump is apparently now willing to challenge the legitimacy of the teleprompter reading, well spoken puppet who presides over our nation’s Military and foreign affairs.

However, conservatives and others will abandon Trump in a heartbeat soon enough.

Does anyone doubt that his approach to politics is not being assessed as successful in someways, and seen as a threat in the general election were he to then switch to a third party ala Perot? Add to this an insufficiency national support team populated by grass-roots believers.

Sure some ‘like’ the surprising candor, but will hardly be tied to someone they know in their gut has at some point stood for much of what they despise in government; specifically abortion, cronyism, and material support for the ‘enemy.’ To be sure, ‘grass’ doesn’t grow well in poisoned soil.

Trump’s effective role however, should not be diminished.

As a stopped clock has 100% accuracy at least twice a day, ‘the Donald’ has certainly hit on a couple of issues in a way that will not allow them to be swept under the rug by the pravda-like establishment media. Politicians and story tellers alike are all-of-a-sudden finding themselves in the difficult position of editorial responsibility.

Were it not for what is oft described “bloviating” by Trump, the criminality of illegal invaders from our Southern border would largely go unnoticed.  Congress might well allow the president to craft a treaty in a manner never before allowed under our constitutional form of government; yet the need for some would-be commanders-in-chief to gain a place in the lime-light has bolstered much in the way of courage.

Trump is a necessary randomness in the great American experiment, yet at the same time an unlikely candidate. His resources will allow him to live a life of his choosing no matter the outcome of any single or multiple elections anywhere on the planet.

He has nothing to gain financially or otherwise by becoming president other than that a salve to his vanity.  Yet this hardly makes him unqualified. His heartily expressed opinions have not been entirely wrong.  His candidacy will likely riddle the race with truths never before spoken out loud; as political correctness generally (and usually with consequence) forbids.

And NOW, we might actually hear things in this election cycle from other candidates with new-found courage and straight forwardness, atypical of the pander fest usually associated with presidential contests. The smug, seemingly well financed ‘establishment’ candidates who are already wasting their energies attacking Trump miss the message that his entrance into politics carries, and will likely continue their Karl Rove style march to extinction; while the ‘others,’ who may be underestimated now will have opportunities to stand out.

Whether one likes Trump or not, it is undeniable that his entry into the 2016 presidential election will have, and has already had very real impact on the national dialogue. And it will likely affect downstream contests in unpredictable ways.

Such chaos can be scary to those who consider themselves to be reliable predictors of political contests.   The ‘butterfly’ effect of a significant ‘invasive’ catalyst on a political race that has very real potential coattail possibilities can already be tremendous.

And what happens when the originating ‘butterfly’ is the size of a pterodactyl?

Bullshit. And, I'll tell ya what... the second folks do, they've lost it all to the two-party wing of Ruling Class bastards, again.

It will happen. Every single time someone shows up and blows off the lid of convention, folks say "That's our guy!" Happened with Perry, Christie, Carson, ..eventually, the wheels fall off for one reason or another.

Trump's prior political support suggests that he cannot be trusted to deliver on conservative principles, thus leading to that point.

      Truth.

What I find interesting, no sad really, is the latest "Dump Trump" argument coming from the republican kakistocracy: "His tone is all wrong."

From the likes of Rocky Raczkowski (didn't you get beat up by Gary Peters) to Willard Romney (didn't you not only get beat up by Barry Soetoro /del> Pres B.O. of all people but you also simultaneously drove the Conservative base away by the millions...way to go), I'm hearing the same argument over and over again about how his "temperament" isn't appropriate for a US President..

    Tone/temperment...right! Got it.

So, I'm eagerly awaiting how the proper tone/temperment defunded Obamacare?

Nuked the Iranian "treaty" (before they turn around and nuke us).

    Addressed the $18+ trillion debt?

Slowed/reversed the invasion of illegal aliens across our border?

Put a leash on the ever expanding federal bureaucracy?

Repealed threats to our basic liberties like the US Patriot Act and PRISM?

    Shall I go on?

      Personally, I like his "temperament."

It's refreshing. It has also attracted those who feel the same way.

It is his history which will hurt him.

Yes, with how campaigns are conducted nowadays, it just may.

However, it is unknowns like that which make politics actually fun to watch again (and not hold back the uncontrollable urge to throw a brick through the TV).

Latest attempt to stop Trump, in Reuters:

Exclusive: Donald Trump's companies have sought visas to import at least 1,100 workers

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/08/01/us-usa-election-trump-exclusive-idUSKCN0Q62RQ20150801

Donald Trump is staking his run for U.S. president in part on a vow to protect American jobs. But this month, one of his companies, the elite Mar-a-Lago Club resort in Florida, applied to import 70 foreign workers to serve as cooks, wait staff and cleaners.

A Reuters analysis of U.S. government data reveals that this is business as usual in the New York property magnate's empire.

Trump owns companies that have sought to import at least 1,100 foreign workers on temporary visas since 2000, according to U.S. Department of Labor data reviewed by Reuters. Most of the applications were approved, the data show......

Not certain that Reuters had legal access to the Donald's records but, even if this were a FOIA request, the lightning delivery of federal records to Reuters does tell us how determined the establishments in both parties are to knife his candidacy.

The optics of this story are bad, but the actual story is not so bad. You have to drop down 15 paragraphs to find out that the visas are H-2Bs, a small program (100k per year) which is seasonal only. And they don't tell you that their headline number - 1,100 - is mostly the same 70 summer workers brought in every year over a 10 year period. Plus 250 foreign models brought into the US of the same 10 year period by his talent agency, visas which typically have a 90 day duration. So we are not talking permanent immigrants, or candidates for permanent immigrant status here.

The media isn't the least bit interested in contents of Hillary's private e-mail server which she used for official government correspondence (nor its mysterious fate), what was agreed to in the Iranian nuclear "treaty" (can I even call it a treaty given the US Senate's actions?) along with its secret side-deals with Iran Sec. Kerry apparently knew nothing about in last week's Capitol Hill grilling testimony, and exactly who stands to benefit the most from the Export-Import Bank reauthorization (hint: they paid $0 in net taxes not that long ago), but was amazingly able to pull up past visa application information toot sweet.

      Wow!

Meh. Whatever. Just take a trip through Traverse City Ann Arbor North and the U.P. if you really want to see a bunch of cheap labor bed makers, and the indian casinos (feather, not call center) employ them too.

To me it's a non-story as long as people are paid to sit on their ass and sh!t out pay increases.

I haven't been able to find any kind of follow up to this Trump "scandal", which lead me to come to two conclusions:

1.) It was done by a subordinate (now unemployed), w/o Trump's knowledge and/or approval.

2.) Reuters got a little "dirty" in order to dig up that story.

I'm kind of leaning towards the latter

I'd have to disagree with you on the second point, CS.

        I not a republican nor am I a socialistdemocrat.

I am an American and tend to lean towards increasing the opportunity for others who live here as well to succeed.

The constant meme that I get from the Chamber of Crony Capitalism on this issue is that "...these are jobs that Americans are not willing to do".

They always leave out six very important words: "for what the market will bear".

You address this problem and you can very easily address 99%+ of the entitlement problem here in America.

Ya, well, put up a bird feeder and you get bird sh!t on your car in the driveway, right?

And, they're not entitlements - call them what they are - benefits.

Yeah, I had an idiot neighbor who had several of them in their backyard.

A fact reinforced after I saw at what happened to my trucks that I spent that better of an day detailing.

After "admiring nature", they would smile and shrug while looking at me fuming at what their "guests" did and then walk back into their house.

Letting my dogs off of their chain and having full run of the yard for several weeks afterwards fixed that problem toot sweet!

Just so there's no confusing among the PC-crowd; I'm suggesting adopting the time-honored democratic party tactic of turning dogs loose on their base of "benefit" groupies.

I'd just be satisfied to see them draw an honest paycheck like everyone else.
