State Convention Notes

Snyder gets his man…reprise…

Convention

The state GOP elite marshaled its forces over the summer with the intention of protecting the Lt. Governor, and they succeeded. While the voting delegate count remained static, the outcome was reversed in comparison with the 2012 result that replaced Saul Anuzis in a conservative push that nearly unseated State Chair Bobby Schostak. A victory for the incumbent regime, or is it? With Common Core looming, and the the tie breaking vote on the Medicaid Expansion in Calley’s political resume’ , the conservative wing of the party may not be finished yet. There is still the November election.

The nomination of Wes Nakagiri was not just a symbolic gesture on the part of conservatives in the Republican party, it was a message to the established leadership that something has to change, and soon. The party has had four years to absorb the conservative message, and has chosen to reject it on a consistent basis. Rules changes for the nomination process were designed to discourage candidates from entering the political fray, not encourage them, and to further the debate. Nakagiri overcame all of them but in the end, the packing of the delegate convention with establishment types; including Lansing staffers; preserved the big government, “little tent” leadership. The decision, and effort, to exclude the conservative base from the party conversation has never been more obvious.

Tactics used in the August primary speak to the contempt the majority has for any true conservative input. Openly inviting Democrats to vote for Republican candidates simply makes the GOP a junior chapter of the Democrat party. This fact obviously escapes the party leadership, and leaves conservatives no place to go in November. Yet in the 2012 Presidential election, the place to go for the party’s conservative base was home, where they stayed instead of going to the polls. The Romney/Ryan ticket’s disdain for the Ron Paul types, and others, cost them the four million votes they lost by. Evidently, that message also failed to sink in. This November, the message may be the same for Governor Snyder, and others.

Rumblings about a 3rd party ticket are no longer a faint noise in the background. Hillary in 2016 looms, and Harry Reid still has a stranglehold on any progress toward undoing the economic and foreign policy damage inflicted upon the country by the Pelosi/Reid/Obama regime of the past 10 years. Calls for “unity” within a party that treats 35% of its base as ‘extremists’ ring hollow here, and across the country. Compromise with the progressive left is no longer an option if we are to address the critical problems we now face. True leadership and decisive action are what is required, and we find ourselves with neither. Nothing changes if nothing changes.

I'll give Mr. Nakagiri kudos for the way he handled himself, despite the insincerity he faced from the kakistocracy yesterday.

Myself, I have very little tolerance for the industrial-scale b.s that was shoveled on Delegates in Novi. However the way Mr. Nakagiri conducted himself says a lot about this man's character.

I've already given my $0.02 on the "Unity" argument, that quite honestly, I'm getting tired of hearing about.

I'm kicking something around right now, I'm not even sure that i'll post it, but if the kakistocracy is serious about this "unity' nonsense, they'll be hard-pressed to ignore.

I should note that Calley did NOT cast a tie breaking vote for the expansion. He would have, and that is clear, but to be accurate is best.

Having said that, I don't believe he is effective in tempering the progressive nature of the beast in the background, and since he refuses to contradict the governor as necessary in public, he is useless. Efforts to paint him as the hero of eliminating the MBT or PPT are pathetic as anyone would recognize those for the monstrosities they were.

The MiGOP has completely ignored the 2012 Republican Platform. The rebranding of the Republican name under Governor Rick Snyder is confounding.... unless you come to the realization that he is a progressive Democrat who ran as a Republican. Fraud is what I'd call it. The one tough nerd campaign was a brilliant disguise. There is no room in the MiGOP for true Conservatives, Constitutionalists, Christians, Free Market Capitalists and the Liberty minded. Crony-Capitalists, Progressives, Statists and LGBT fascists are today's MiGOP. Now. The question is: What do we do with this awful truth?

This year my efforts and monies will go to the real Conservative candidates. Let's see how well the establishment does without TEA Party support for a change.

IF the "Ricky Loves Calley" wing of the Michigan Republican Party pushes through Elliot-Larson BEFORE the November elections, it's because Strategic National polling tells them they will pick up more progressive Homosexual and Democrat votes than they will lose "Conservative Base" aka "Sheeple" votes. Expect it.

Oh, you won't see any mention of Elliot-Larson crossing Slick Rick's desk anytime before the General.

The kakistocracy has no respect towards actual Conservatives, but even they are not suicidal.

Funny you should bring that up though.....

I came away from the convention discouraged on the one hand, no, not by the state GOP so much, but by the let down of seeing National tea party figureheads like Amash, Cruz, and Paul , shill for the high dollar. While most of us in the trenches hope and pray and work for Principle over Party, the allure of endorsements for big dollars, or in some cases, exemption from the DeVos, GLEP, McNeily attack ads, has far too much traction for the mere politician. Clara Peller's, "Where's the beef?", in today's parlance should be, " Where's the statesmen?" On the bright side of the other hand was Wes Nakagiri. He certainly came across as sterner stuff when compared to the vomitus projectus of Dummer cum laude. His organizational work was phenomenal. He stuck to the issues and exposed voting records. We are indebted to his high caliber professional statesmanlike campaign.
