Pro Gun Advocacy Group Did It.

The mistake in Sunday's Record Eagle was undoubtedly not purposeful, however ..

R-E-ResponseIt is unnecessary to dig the hole any larger or deeper.

The Traverse City Record Eagle editors have been bombarded with negative FB posts, and probably filled in boxes since the posting of Sunday’s page three error. They have been accused of having an agenda that is anti gun, and purposefully going after the ‘headline readers;’ those folks who scan the newspaper and rarely read the content.

It was a doozy of a mistake, and likely one they painfully regret.  And however unlikely it is that the newspaper would try such a thing purposefully (I am sure it was not intentional), it does underscore one aspect of today’s journalism.

The “shooter” key is used more frequently in the newspaper environment than the “backspace” key.

It is pre-programmed whenever there is a mass killing (unless abortion is involved) anywhere in the county.  In the front page response to the mistake and its ‘notoriety’ the editors apparently cannot accept that their own perspective and that programming has not perhaps led to this unfortunate error.  The image to the right suggests such an attitude.

Its tough to be the news I suppose.

Well, what else would one expect from a government run *news* paper. Competence? Ethics? Integrity? Puh-lease. Yes, the Traverse City Ann Arbor North Fish Wrap is owned by "the state".

Bottom line on all this horse shit is either a Right is a Right, which constrains government or, it all goes on the table for discussion.

Ps. some say San Francisco, which is not that bad of an assessment when considering it's the home of Bill Milliken.

Correction: Grosse Pointe North Fish Wrap. Otherwise spot on as usual, Corinthian.

No, you're forgetting about the Chicongo money that passes through here, on its travels up to Traverse City Ann Arbor North.

The response from the Record Eagle is priceless! Not only did journalism die about 25 years ago, they now hire McDonald's reject employees if we are to believe their explanation. I call them D minus students.

Ok so it wasn't deliberate but it was still sloppy journalism. ...and I use that word " journalism" lightly here

Thanks a lot C-scales--everytime I see the R-E now all I see is "North Fish Wrap". The explanation was too long and really unbelievable. Better: "Look we FU and the guy's been fired! We hired a 9th grader whose been exposed to two years of core curriculum--so don't expect this kind of thing to continue. Thank you for your concerns."

To wit, the question must be asked, why did you not see the vision before, and why still bother looking at it?

They dinndoonuffin… the headline simply wasn’t HUGE ENOUGH to draw the editor’s attention.
