Four Options

More examples of enlightened utopian planning.

Not surprisingly, Highland Park has found itself as one of the latest symptoms of leftism. The city that boasted a 3712 to 43 win of Marxist Barack Obama over Moderate Mitt Romney in 2012 has achieved its natural evolutionary state. The canker sores of progressive policy have found a new (and old)  host.  From a Snyder admin release yesterday:

Gov. Rick Snyder today confirmed his earlier determination that a financial emergency currently exists in the City of Highland Park. Under Public Act 436 of 2012, the Local Financial Stability and Choice Act, the Highland Park city council now has seven days to select one of four options to address the financial emergency; a consent agreement, an emergency manager, neutral evaluation, or Chapter 9 bankruptcy.

Under PA 436, local officials determine how a financial emergency is to be addressed. Highland Park now has until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2014 to pass a resolution selecting one of the four options provided for in PA 436, as noted above.

The signs have been there for some time.

Which Michigan community is next?

In other words taxpayers, get ready to get your wallet out again. I wonder what magical "surplus" account Ricky will tap into now? It doesn't matter what option they choose, it will cost us money in some way.

At the very least, it does have the potential to affect the overall credit rating.
