When Property Rights Become A Concern

Its all about control.

Want to see a perfect example of big government thinking?

It’s exposed when defending the little guy becomes suspect, because the advocates for said ‘little guy’ endorse/embrace the constitution. Joshua Akers, an assistant professor of geography and urban and regional studies at the University of Michigan-Dearborn just cannot grasp the motivations of those who would defend the downtrodden.

Akers has issue with a constitutional defense legal firm Pacific Legal ..taking on a constitutional property rights case.  Because they might use it for their own ideological (constitutional) ends. Not making this stuff up, and from the Detroit Free Press:

Akers, who has written extensively on the nonprofit, contends the suit filed in Wayne County Circuit Court is a Trojan horse, less concerned with the constitutionality of the annual tax auction and more focused on using the court system to bolster property rights and solidify language around the Fifth Amendment, which prohibits private property from being taken for public use without just compensation.

And because that isn’t enough?

“This seems pretty great — you’re defending the little guy from government overreach. But in the end, what’s lost is the ability to regulate the usage of property. The ability to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of those living around the property,” said Akers explaining that while some homeowner could benefit from this, by and large, it is the wealthy, politically connected and big industries that win.

And there you go.  Big industries win when a homeowner gets to keep her house.

Read the rest   And consider how much better off we would be if we stopped feeding the beast and defunded these destroyers of our individual freedoms.

Intimidated by a rapidly growing Muslim population, fearful of the rabid anti-Semitism of the left, and weary of feeling like targets for attack, Jewish and Christian families are on the move, looking for a new place to call home. They have no voice. Homelands in their story.”

The meeting will be held at the Bloomfield Hills Baptist Church located at 3600 Telegraph Road, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Yes, that is the magistrate.

President Trump needs to direct AG William Barr to investigate this court.

Michigan Town Hall – We Build the Wall March 14th (Update!!!)

Okay, I just got back from a weekend with the family and I’m catching up on some correspondence when I came upon this in my inbox from the We Build The Wall organizers over the weekend:

This is Brian Kolfage. I want to make sure you all are aware that we moved our venue to Cobo Center.

Two reasons why. We outgrew the Warren location by a long shot. We aren’t sure how many 1000’s are showing up so we need to be prepared.

Secondly, security. We need command and control of this event and the venue Cobo Center offers this security for our guests.

With onsite secure parking, and onsite security who is trained to deal with these functions they are highly competent. Furthermore, we have 18 on duty Detroit Police Officers dedicated to working out event.

With all these steps taken we believe security of our guests and speakers to be priority and have mitigated any mishaps from protestors who will not be permitted in the venue or building.

This is going to be an awesome event for everyone and want to ensure it’s safe and secure for you and your friends.

Thank you for understanding! I hope to see you there!

Brian Kolfage

While I’m glad at the outpouring of support for this event which apparently has more Conservatives backing it, than who attended last months GOP State Convention (how sad is that), I’ve got to chime in a several items regarding this Thursday’s event.

With all due respect to Mr. Kolfage, if anyone thinks that they’ve got the agitators under control…you don’t.

Yes, you can “secure” Cobo Hall and keep them at bay.

No, you cannot keep them from harassing attendees entering or exiting Cobo, or worse yet, vandalizing property. The Cobo Parking lots CANNOT be secured. Not only is it a public parking lot, it’s just far too big to effectively patrol.

Making matters worse, my sources have tipped me off that they are already aware of the new venue and are already planning for it. Unfortunately, that’s all I have at the moment.

This IS NOT meant to warn people away.

Just the opposite. I want to see as many people as possible at Cobo this Thursday. I especially want to see them arrive and leave as safely as possible for what should be a memorable evening (in a good way).

I would just want to make a friendly warning for attendees to locate other parking options around Downtown Detroit. There are many within walking distance of Cobo, and this is one of the rare times when I’ll advocate using it, take the People Mover to get to and from Cobo.

So to wrap things up, The We Build The Wall Michigan Town Hall will NOW be held at Cobo Hall in Downtown Detroit in Hall “B” from 7:00pm to 8:30pm

And from The We Build The Wall event page:

DOORS OPEN AT 5:30PM SHARP AT COBO CENTER

NEED GOVERNMENT ID MATCHING TICKET TO GAIN ENTRANCE

To ensure the safety and security of all guests, we respectfully request that attendees refrain from bringing back packs or any other personal bags or luggage. Upon arrival you will be subject to a security check prior to entry which will include metal detecting wands and a possible pat down in the event the wand detects metal of any kind.

Again, I’m not trying to scare anyone away. Forewarned and forearmed…that sort of thing.

Gretchenomics: $507M K-12 Boost for…. 70.3% Chronically Absent?

Where does the Progressive dystopia spending end? Apparently, not anytime soon.

Lansing – Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will propose a $507 million increase in state K-12 classroom spending in her first budget, including a $180 boost to the minimum per-student grant and substantial funding hikes to teach Michigan’s low-income, vocational and special education students, according to an overview of the plan obtained by The Associated Press
….

Whitmer’s proposed boost spending for at-risk students, to $619 million – a 20 percent increase – would be the third big spike in five years. The funds help schools provide additional supports, such as tutoring and counseling, to low-income and other disadvantaged students who account for half of Michigan’s 1.5 million students. The funding would equate to $894 per at-risk student, up from about $720.

What are the “3 big spikes in spending” net results?

So, who is up for a vacation?

The Capitol Critters just don’t get it.

Despite Speaker Nancy Pelosi herself being denied more frequent flyer miles and getting kicked off of her government ride some 30-minutes before leaving Washington (Heh heh heh, I STILL love that one!!!), the Indrid Cold-grinning idiot from Michigan’s13th Congressional District, Rep. Rep. Rashida Tlaib thinks that she can do the same without any repercussions herself.

So, how will THAT fly?

Sorry, I know. Bad pun.
