Woof!…woof…woof, woof!!!
Today on Patriot Voice Radio, “Your Defending Fathers” got a bit carried away with the ‘thrill’ of victory…Trucker Randy evidently told the folks in northern Michigan about plans being laid to recall State Senator Wayne Schmidt…This is not new, as of the August primary campaign many of us paying attention to it were absolutely disgusted with then Representative (104) Schmidt’s campaign practices, and his insistence in his ads that he was a true conservative with conservative values…We know this is a blatant, arrogant lie…The only fly in our ointment is the timing, as we were on schedule to launch the recall organizational effort in August, to be totally prepared for an all out effort to get the recall on a statewide ballot by May of 2016…
After today’s radio program, my phone never stopped ringing, three calls from around the State from people who heard the broadcast, three conversations with Mr. Bishop, and then a blind call from a reporter at MIRS to confirm the effort…busy day…As this is now in the public forum, and supposedly in the news statewide, I feel obligated to confirm the facts of the matter and dispel any rumors to the contrary…We will be mounting an effort to remove State Senator Wayne Schmidt from office…The abysmal failure of Prop 1 yesterday shows support for conservative, common sense government in Michigan on a scale we could only imagine…The architect of this fiasco…one Senator Schmidt…
His record as Chair of the House Transportation Committee will be documented in following articles, where they may be checked for accuracy and authenticity…His sponsorship and support of Prop 1 will be duly noted as well, and his penchant for expanding government at ever increasing taxpayer expense will be exposed for anyone who cares to follow the course of this effort…Every phase of the recall procedure will be published, and released to the media…We may fail in the effort, but the mere attempt should put Wayne (as I like to call him) and all other legislators on notice…We will no longer stand by and watch as our government destroys the people they are Oath bound to serve…We’re NOT going away…
The Wayne Schmidt recall effort has now formally begun, May 6th, 2015…
Tom Backers
Committee to recall Wayne Schmidt (Not yet organized)
Well, if this just doesn't get all. My paper asshole that voted for Prop 1, and also loved him some of Wayne's red light camera shakedown monies just happens to be the new House Transportation chair.
Getting it, yet?
One (p)brick at a time...
Because the political scalps of Saul Anuzis, Frank Foster, Norm Shinkle, and Linda Lee Tarver proudly adorning the insurgency's trophy wall hasn't yet made the point, another head must roll. Senator Schmidt-head's as good a starting point as any, and I suppose that we can think of a half-dozen or so other "republican" state senators who ought to be mounted right beside him, and maybe they yet will be.
Our single biggest problem is going to be the same one that's always existed, that of keeping the dueling egos and loose cannons within our own ranks from stinking up the works.
KRH, you're preaching to the choir.

Believe it or not, behind the scenes I took some shit for posting that last link about Mitchell, just like I did with that dunce Pogo commenter on the old "me-too Republican" blog.
Well, y'all got a lame duck Progressive Nerd, how's that working out?
I'm a fairly methodical individual...I was in the process of lining up the ducks...this complicates things only in the sense that the element of surprise is now gone...and your right, egos of true activists clash and get in their own way at times...We're trying to herd cats, but the herd was out in force Tuesday...
Saul Anuzis, Frank Foster, and Linda Lee Tarver all saw us coming . . . that fact didn't save them. Maintain you methodical approach, and Wayne Schmidt hangs too.
In regards to Anuzis being trounced, having been involved from the get-go on that one- they never saw us coming, and once they did, they didn't believe their lyin' eyes.
We in the grassroots were just learning to spread our wings and work effectively in the political arena, and part of that learning curve required our ability to overcome our political ineptitude, ie revealing your intentions far too soon.
This was a major blow to the goal of recalling Schmidt.
A couple well-intentioned words of advice to my friends-
1. Make damned sure you have compelling ballot language that musters the emotions of recall voters in your favor, and don't start the filing process until you've gotten it absolutely perfect.
2. Make damned sure that you have a compelling challenger who will effectively be the face of the recall campaign.
3. You're gonna need every penny you can get your hands on, so start collecting them yesterday. Having the first two covered should make this one considerably easier, but since you can only use his record from this year in the ballot language, you've got your work cut out for you.
Tim...your post just gave away my game plan...thanks... ;>) ...between you and Randy, my job just became that much more difficult...I think the signature process will take care of itself...Proving Wayne is a tax & spend loving liberal will be easy during the signature gathering, which is where we can use his ENTIRE record against him, once we have a valid petition language approved (which may be harder than one thinks)...
The trick will be to get the voters out in favor of the recall, but just getting it on a special election ballot would be a major 'feather' in my Tea (for those 'journalists' in the political media...TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY!!!) Party hat, which I would wear proudly at the next State Convention...if I'm not booted out of the GOP by then...
As for a viable candidate, I already have two names...do not doubt it...
Wayne represents the ultimate RINO, next to Snyder that is...A Dem statist running as a Repub, because up here you can't win as a Dem...With the folks I hang with politically, he was and is the obvious target...Removing him may be a pipe dream, but scarin' the beJeezus out of him is not...serves as a heads up for others too...
Very well stated, Mr. Backers. They all need something to think about other than which lobbyist to cozy up to and the next election committee fundraiser to attend so, it may as well be fear. That's something missing a lot in all of our elected officials today simply because it's not their money they're dealing with, and if things go sideways, just raise taxes or fees. Total unaccountability. We only have ourselves to blame for their lack of fear. They will understand and respect that.
Folks should've figured that out in 2011 when Lansing pulled their "net tax cut" game to balance the budget by raising the state income tax (when it don't roll back down that's a tax hike), raiding retirement pensions and plundering the homestead tax credit.
I would be more than happy to assist you in his recall. Until my semi-retirement I was considered to be the leading petitioner in the Country. I have done many State campaigns, my knowledge in this field is strong. Give me a call if you need help!
