Busy Times

The posts are as usual high quality, but currently a little more sparse because of some ongoing election efforts.

10x25MM has done a fine job pointing out the DPS foibles, and this morning reminds me that bankruptcy really was the legitimate option for the failed district.  It appears that even after 617 Million has been approved, no one knows who is in charge yet. From the Detroit News:

Davis, who has been board president for two years, on Sunday said Lemmons was making his move.

“LaMar Lemmons is trying to hijack the ship, but he is not currently the president, even though he would like to be.”

Both insist they are following the June 9 board meeting results even though the stint is short..

Boys. boys…  Just remember, the Captain goes down with the ship.

In any event, I mentioned election efforts, right?  Below is a radio ad I have prepared to run this coming week, and then again closer to the election. I thought it might be of interest, and that THIS TOO might be of interest.  Higher taxes.. Right?

The 'sparse" commentary (of late) seems reflective of a 'conservative' reluctance to become engaged statewide on any issue of importance for a much longer period; peaking in '09 and declined rapidly ever since.

Even with 10x25MM and others (thankfully) spending the time required to keep those interested informed; there seems to be not one single Mochigan issue 'damning' enough to even elicit so much as a 'rise' from most believing in anything remotely resembling what the MiGOP or "Tea Party" ever was or hoped to be.

Kudos to those who have taken the time to spark reasonable debate..whether there ever was (or will be) one or not.

Or, it could be because of other pressing matters before them.

Many of the people who come here to read (and post) do have other items on their plate aside from Michigan Politics.

And if the cycles here and on other sites hold true, you should see an uptick beginning next month on new material (i.e. Detroit Zoo Tax, RTA)

I even understand that in the GR area they're trying to cram through some kind of art/museum tax to pay for other people's entertainment.

If I had to venture a guess, I'm pretty sure that there is at least one poster from the other side of the state who will fill us in on that when the time is right.

    My point was/is this:
We're on our 5th (2 year) election cycle since pretty much the world ended as we once knew it (Bush/Obama bailouts).
After the first D.C. rally on Sept. 12. '09; there was at the very least 'some' (usually forum-based) back and forth discourse between those who full well realized just how fast e were slipping and who VALUED the sharing of real time political information with others.
Flash forward to (arguably) the single most important election cycle in American history (but 4 months away) and...(again) silence.

The historic record of this 'movement that never was' will STARKLY be illustrated (via simply searching the net) by the pitiful amount of meaningful discourse involving local/state issues (all politics being local) that never happened either. Our grandchildren will certainly be wondering what truly 'was' on our minds as their future teetered obviously in the balance.

The legislature gets a pass here.
A "Michigan Votes" subscription informed every single one of us as to what was on THEIR minds not to mention what would soon be rammed down our kid's throats (soon) in the lame duck and well before.

And given no last second "Right To Work"(esque) surprises at the very end by those (successfully) launching one ugly duckling trial ballon after another since 2014?

They will simply say: "We told you so.." and stick the (last) knife in the heart of a 'grassroots' movement which NEVER intelligently discussed or fought for their children's future in any meaningful manner.

Thank God for those who take the time to inform. Shame on the rest of us for not taking that information and running with it as if we didn't just live the best lives in human history...which cannot and will not be repeated due to our obviously selfish apathy.
