Michigan republicans are truly a hopeless cause.
Not only are they tone deaf to their past, they have earned the title of the Stupid Party.
House Bill 4722 is sponsored by Rep. Sarah Lightner, R-Springport, and it has 15 co-sponsors. It is certain to draw fierce opposition from local government associations, whose membership include some cities and townships that have vigorously challenged property owners’ rights to accommodate paying guests.
“There is a trend of local units (of government) to try to use zoning regulation to take away property rights,” said Brian Westrin, director of public policy and legal affairs at the Michigan Realtors Association, which supports the bill.
Here we go again. Sleazy realtors… Hey Brian, you and Jason Sheppard, can GFY’s and, stay out of my neighborhood.
And there you have it, two years later from their last lobbyist ploy, even in the MCC’s comments– nobody in their right mind wants transient rentals next door to them in their neighborhood.
Repackaging the lie with sponsorship by Empowered Female™ in the guise of it appearing “smart” again tells everyone everything anyone ever needs to know about the MI-GOP.
Exit question regarding The State of the State Party… is this the Magic One? Because this habitual loser sure as hell wasn’t but, go ahead MI-GOP: keep the mantle of failure alive.
Property rights are the foundation of our Republic. (I would remind you that nowhere in our constitution will you find the words Democrat or democratic. Your premise is flawed).
Laws governing short term rentals are not based on any legitimate government authority. What is the functional difference between a one week rental a one month rental? Answer: NONE! It is a purely arbitrary distinction. In my opinion, such ordinances constitute a “taking”. It will be interesting to watch some of these townships squirm when faced with a lawsuit based on that principle.
Still showing off that you're proud of your dunce hat, Tom?
