Michigan's new thought police effort violates the 1st and 14th Amendments according to lawsuit by AFLC
Some of Michigan’s new administration’s nonsense goes beyond ‘virtue signalling’ or shaming.
We’ve had a few minutes for it to settle in. But the bottom line is that Michigan’s newest Attorney General Dana Nessel is clearly using the power of the state to persecute those who would disagree with her worldview. To the level legally possible, she is using public monies to pressure those who have something to say to either shut up or be pilloried in the court of public opinion.
And this publicly funded defamation, riding under the guise of fighting ‘hate speech’ is being done indiscriminately, and lazily. Nessel’s new thought police unit is using a map to target, and developed by the SPLC, a private, ideologically driven legal services cult that frequently identifies churches or family organizations as hate groups.
One of those groups is having none of it.
In a lawsuit naming (the new hate crimes unit) DANA NESSEL, and AGUSTIN V. ARBULU (Michigan dept of civil rights director), the American Freedom Law Center has charged that Nessel has officially sanctioned the SPLC’s opinions as those of the state, putting groups like the AFLC officially under the umbrella of hate as described by a private entity. Officially sanctioning the partisan opinions with the use of taxpayer dollars and the authority of the office to punish free speech and educational activities engaged in by the AFLC.
The AG is wrong. And this one organization is not going to back down. The AFLC iterates in it’s filing that:
The mission of AFLC is “to fight for faith and freedom through litigation, education, and public policy programs.” To promote its conservative, Judeo-Christian mission, AFLC prosecutes cases to, inter alia, advance and defend religious liberty, freedom of speech, and the sanctity of human life.
Pure hate.
Such an organization should be ashamed of itself, yes? Pointed out in its lawsuit is that such hate puts it at the top of the list that Nessel new Stasi would use to sanctify the partisan slander of a legitimate 501(c)3, one that relies on contributions and support for it’s good works.
An article at the American Thinker notes her surprise that her new ‘authority’ could be challenged.
Nessel took to Facebook to make her first response to the lawsuit: “Only in Trump’s America do you get sued for pledging to prosecute hate crimes and pursue organizations that engage in illegal conduct against minority communities.” Nessel’s Facebook comments reveal her leftist conviction that whoever first invokes the magic phrase “in Trump’s America” is absolved in advance of whatever falsehoods follow.
Is it too much to think that someone elected to such a high office would not engage in the petty partisanship shown here?
Clearly, power and control by the left requires speech limits and total acquiescence to their perspective. And if allowed to continue for any length of time, it becomes harder to practice speech or encourage dissent to such power grabs.
Nessel however, forgets she is not living in 1950s East Berlin, and there is no wall to keep us in. And we ARE in Trump’s America. A constitutional America An America where all sides can still freely speak their minds, and pursue action against the tyranny of thought policing and the ideological enmity of the left.
An America for which we give our thanks to God.
A literal "Red Squad"...
...nice.
Stasi my ass. The implication of the word is Germanic, which feeds really well into the nahzee narrative today. Red hats. 1950. Getting really tired of whites who hover closely, but just won't go there. Dana is a jew, a Bolshevist jew- what you're talking about is NKVD. Everyone needs to learn history or, STFU.
Disagree. The actions are more Stasi like than anything else. It is the perfect use. This is about ideology, not ancestral roots.
Uh-huh, and said ideology and ancestral roots always end up being exposed as tied together.
