People make resolutions (which they‘ll most likely break before February 1st).
Another session of Congress prepares to ramp up in the midst of a government “shutdown”.
The democrats give President Trump more posturing and obstructionism because…well, illegal aliens (and Americans on the public dole) matter significantly more to them than the safety of the people who actually put them in office in the first place.
Albion College student Alexander Tokie emailed a political position paper on the subject of ‘white privilege’ to his fellow College Republicans in September. The email concluded with a very funny reference to a .45 ACP pistol and putative hunting permits for Antifa and ISIS:
….Take the liberal tears from the idiot you just destroyed in your debate, dissemble your American made Springfield M1911 .45 caliber handgun and apply the tears in order to clean the mechanism, reassemble and proceed to purchase ANTIFA and ISIS hunting permits and max out on tags.
Mr. Tokie’s position paper leaked and the entirely humorless administration of Albion College has charged Mr. Tokie with violating Albion’s policy against the ‘use of, or threatened use of, physical force or violence’.
In 2007, Congressman Pete Hoekstra told me that the Bush administration was going to call terrorist attacks “Man-Made disasters” going forward.
It was a report of incredulity. It was the first time I became aware that our federal government was not at all interested in fighting a ‘holy war,’ and was actually more concerned that any reference to Islam in a negative way would incite more violence and hostility from Muslims as such.
It was at that point, I knew we had lost a major battle in the fight against radical Islam.
Words matter, as other popular pundits note. The failure to recognize one’s enemy can only guarantee that enemy remains invisible until it is too late. This administration has made no attempt to reverse that policy, and has in-fact embraced it to the point that Islam Jihad has occurred on our soil several times since 2008.
No change would be expected under a 2nd Clinton administration either. Of this we can be certain. Hillary’s European style pandering would likely give us more Charlie Hebdo, or Paris theater style attacks. As it is, she is calling out for more refugee settlement of radicalized Muslims in the US and IN MICHIGAN, a position that the Obama administration has been obliging.
This speech by Donald Trump should remind folks that he is not afraid to call out an evil by its name.
Don't hold your breath on Rick Snyder's commitment to protecting Michigan citizens.
Paris happened, but it is not spectacularly unique as has been chronicled since 911.
These are some takes from around the state on the federally assisted invasion of high risk into our state.
The Shekel – The Governerd Begins To Get A Clue “That he thought it was a good idea in the first place shows rather terrible judgment on his part .. ” Indeed.
Apparently, the idea of picking up his wife and three children from the county morgue is weighing a little too heavily on the mind of one “Relentlessly Positive” Governor.
According to this mornings Detroit Free Press, Gov. Snyder has reversed course from his earlier ill-conceived decision to allow Syrian “refugees” into Michigan following the Islamic Terrorists attacks in Paris that have claimed at least 129 lives as of the latest count.
Gov. Snyder is quoted as stating, “Michigan is a welcoming state and we are proud of our rich history of immigration. But our first priority is protecting the safety of our residents.”
Better late than never. But in this case, no damage has been done through Gov. Snyder’s actions.
Naturally, this has the proponents of the original scheme up in arms over a “perceived” overreaction.
From the same Freep article, Maged Moughni, an Arab-American advocate said, “It’s doing what ISIS wants. … He’s just basically buying into what ISIS wants: Muslims against the West … Gov. Snyder is buying into the rhetoric.”
Further down, Sean de Four, vice president of child and family services with Lutheran Social Services of Michigan had this to say,
“I certainly understand and appreciate Gov. Snyder’s desire to be cautious and put the safety of Michiganders first. But the State Department already uses an overabundance of caution in its screening of refugees before they gained entry into the United States. In fact, refugees spend an average of five to seven years in refugee camps being screened and background checks before access to any country.”
Most people know that I don’t agree, with oh about 99%, of what Gov. Snyder rams through, mostly due to the fact that he doesn’t adhere to anything even remotely conservative when he does so.
This time around, and perhaps the very likely possibility that he might appear on a future casualty list himself directly due to the actions of those he blindly lets into our state, he finally gets things right for a change.
Midland, Mich. — Michigan state Rep. Gary Glenn, R-Midland, in the wake of deadly terrorist attacks in Paris by Islamic extremists carrying Syrian passports, Saturday called on Gov. Rick Snyder to reverse his call to relocate Syrian refugees in the state.
“I respectfully urge the governor to act cautiously and conservatively to fulfill what in the sad reality of today’s world is the most fundamental responsibility of state government, to protect the public safety of our families and our communities here at home,” Glenn said. “We should not rush to offer an open door to the high-risk importation of individuals from a known hotbed of Islamic extremism who security officials say cannot be safely screened to identify and block jihadists masked as ‘refugees’ who’d love to bring suicide vests and grenades to Ford Field or Fisher Theatre or Great Lakes Crossing.”
Glenn disputed Snyder’s earlier assurances that Syrian refugees can be safely vetted to block terrorist threats, citing testimony last month by FBI director James Comey, who told the U.S. House Homeland Security Committee that “we can only query against that (data) which we have collected. And so if someone has never made a ripple in the pond in Syria in a way that would get their identity or their interest reflected in our database, we can query our database until the cows come home, but there would be nothing show up because we have no record on it. You can only query what you have collected.” (Video: http://www.wnd.com/2015/10/fbi-no-way-to-screen-refugees-coming-to-u-s/#ooid=ZqNGpjeDrxjmhlHEDNbae70T1uHSPvqj )
Not letting something called local opposition (or Heaven forbid…national sovereignty) get in the way of them assuaging their troubled conscience, Gov Rick Snyder announced that around 100 illegal aliens are already in Michigan.
According to the Cadillac News, at least 100 of these illegals, a breakdown from where they are coming from has not been provided, will be here on a “temporary basis”.
No word on exactly how long “temporary” might be.
While speaking to a business round table this morning in Washington, Gov. Snyder said,
“It’s really terrible the whole situation with the undocumented children and that’s really generated the crisis that you’re currently talking about.”
Umm, yeah Gov. Snyder.
It’s really sad that the current administration has done NOTHINGto stem the current invasion into our county. In fact, Pres. B.O. has gone out of his way to promote this invasion.
I’ve indicated before that try to catch up on current events as much as I can when working.
It’s not easy, but I manage as best as I can.
I get a good chunk of it from e-mail blasts from people whom I trust. Much of it is on material that the MSM wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot poll.
The latest has to do with the continuing invasion of illegal aliens along our border and the (sort of) correct response that has been lacking as of late.
