Solar Powered Failure

Same scat - different day.

Here’s to still and cloudy days

There must be a class in our taxpayer subsidized higher education system that trains government employees for subsiding business ventures that cannot survive on their own.  A preparation of sorts for the most productive work in Michigan state government.

A123 systems, LG Chem, etc..  Energy is the hot topic, but renewable energy has gotten a stake of the treasury in the past few years.

And to date, it has never been completely debunked as being a future solution for diminished resources.

That’s OK actually.  Under certain circumstances, renewable options provide ways to solve all manner of the issues.  Lawn lighting, roadside signs, or limited use for the cabin in the woods, all of which can be effectively served with solar, or other off-the-grid generation

But just the same we need to continue chronicling the demise of the politically correct sunshine and rainbows energy dreams. Mandating, power minimums from one source is absurd, and paying for failure fits the oft used definition of insanity. We aren’t the only ones.

Last December, the federal government’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy touted the success of its solar energy subsidy programs in a website feature headlined, “EERE Success Story — The Future’s So Bright, You’ve got to Wear Shades.”

So someone did wear shades. Once again, but at night ..and drove the taxpayer wagon off the cliff.

The company was doing great!  So great that only three months later its gone, and the promise of jobs jobs jobs is comparable to the promise of a certain federally mandated health plan saving the average family $2K a year.

Promises of success made by anyone in government ought not be taken seriously any longer.  In fact, while I digress, I guess I could issue a challenge for anyone to pass along the results of even one government subsidized social or economic program that actually worked as promised (or better).  Just one.

We’ll stand by as we have for so many years, and wait for some reasonable explanation of why its a good idea to forceably remove money from Joe Blow Citizen’s pocket and use it to line those of the smarter than us dumb-f$^%s who come and go as quickly as the subsidies dry up.

Oh and if to demonstrate such wondrous success, you use the information by our esteemed corporate welfare department?

We’ll just laugh at you.

What's sad here is that despite the evidence of its utter failure, our non-representing representation will trot out other "experts" to claim that these subsidies are still necessary. Don't be too surprised if they also use the time-worn "well, others states are doing it too"-argument.

I'd still like to see someone have Lansing mandate that ALL expenditures cite the relevant constitutional authority for that appropriation.

    No authority cited.

    No money.

    It's that simple!

Didn't John Conyers try that argument a while back?

It didn't work very well for him either.
