First off, a big “Thank You” to those of you who took part in the Unlock Michigan petition campaign (Part 1).
After all of the political and legal hurdles which were thrown down in front of everyone, we had finally removed one of the laws which were misused and abused by a megalomaniac to destroy Michigan.
Second, a big “Thank You” goes out to the Michigan Legislature, both Senate and House for acting on this in a very timely manner. I was especially impressed by the fact that the Michigan House took this up immediately following the Roll Call and Morning Invocation after the session had began on Wednesday.

You did it.
Just moments ago, the Michigan House of Representatives voted to stand with you to repeal the law from 1945 that gave Michigan Governors endless power to control your lives.
By a vote of 60 to 48 — including the votes of 4 Democratic representatives! — they said, “YES! Let’s repeal the law from 1945 just as the citizens of Michigan have asked.”
Friends, with its passage, this law is dead. It does not go to the Governor. It gets removed from the books. Forever. A Michigan Governor can never decree endless rules and regulations on a state in the same way again.
You made history.
Because of the work you did, the petitions you circulated, the hours you volunteered, and the dollars you donated — today, citizens of tomorrow will not have to deal with the same arrogant exercise of power you did over the past 16 months.
What’s next?
The bill is dead and gone. Celebrate today and get ready to roll up your sleeves tomorrow. Because now the world knows “we can do this” we have a lot more work to get done.
