Dear Fellow Patriots,
The attacks on Dave Agema have weighed heavy on my heart for Dave, his wife Barbara, and for those interested in seeing freedom and liberty prevail in our state and nation.
Dave Agema has been standing up for fiscal and social conservative values and Constitutional freedoms for many years – first as a fighter pilot, then as a State Representative, and now as Republican National Committeeman. He has been a strong and solid conservative voice within the Michigan Republican Party and also a strong supporter of the TEA party and grassroots movement in our state. He has spoken to TEA Party groups all around Michigan in support of founding principles and the core values that separate the Republican Party from the Democrat Party. Recently, I attended the MRP State Committee Meeting in Lansing where Dave’s speech on standing firm on our Republican Platform’s core values resulted in a standing ovation and resounding applause unmatched by any other speaker that day. These core values are not just talking points to Dave, but values he has spent a lifetime defending and fighting for.
Over the years I have learned how the media and the progressive movement will do whatever they can to silence conservatives through threats, intimidation, and attempts to destroy a person’s life and credibility, even making things up if necessary. I have learned how dirty politics can get, but I understand the reason behind it – it is because of what is at stake. This battle that we are in is a battle for the heart and soul of our nation, it is ultimately a spiritual battle and the stakes are high.
Each of us has a calling and a place in this battle, and I don’t presume that I have all the answers or know all the words each one of us should say or the actions each one of us should take. There are many times where we can all say our message better and fall far short of ideal, including me. Dave is no exception to this and although he has been misquoted and some of his statements have been taken out of context, he has issued a press release humbly and graciously apologizing for statements that were poorly worded or found derogatory, as that was not his intent.
My concern is that when we allow others to dictate what we can say and how we can say it, we are granting them permission to further impose political correctness which undermines truth and light and instead perpetuates ignorance and darkness. As leaders, I believe we have a responsibility to be thoughtful about the words we choose, but if we go down this road of censorship, we are allowing the progressive pathway of political correctness to silently abdicate the same freedoms that we are fighting so hard to protect.
These current battles surrounding topics such as traditional marriage and American Laws for American Courts are part of a broader battle that will only become more difficult as it is pushed down the road. The topic of traditional marriage has many components and is intimately tied with religious freedom and the foundational core of our society – the family. American Laws for American Courts has important Constitutional implications. I believe conversations on these topics and where the Republican Party stands on them are healthy and given the culture and time, necessary.
Regardless of the issue of the day, as a movement, we either stand for freedom, including our First Amendment rights or we don’t. We will either stand and support others that stand for freedom and the core values our nation was founded on, or we won’t.
Today it is Dave Agema, tomorrow it might be me or you, and the next day maybe it will be your son or daughter. Although I don’t know who will be next, I do know someone will be next. The playbook to destroy anyone who stands or speaks out against the progressive machine is used time and time again as a means to intimidate and silence. If we allow it to silence us out of fear for the cost we will personally have to endure, then we have already lost. Instead, let’s think and speak thoughtfully as we stand firm for the values that make our nation exceptional.
Although there are many who will talk about it, there are very few who will actually stand up at great personal cost to themselves and their families for the convictions that they believe in, even within the grassroots movement. We admire our founding fathers but are not so quick to take the risk that they personally took to stand for their core convictions and beliefs. As I look around the political realm, there are those who stand for issues that directly oppose conservative values, our Republican platform, and Constitutional freedoms with little ramification and certainly not with the vitriol that has been thrown at Dave.
If we as a grassroots movement will not stand with a statesman who has spent his life defending liberty and conservative principles at great personal sacrifice, then I wonder who will we stand with? I am the first to say we need to hold each other accountable and pull our support from those leaders who lose their footing on Constitutional principles, but that is not the case here.
As a united grassroots movement, we have a serious amount of influence within the Michigan Republican Party and I hope the grassroots leaders within the movement will consider this and not allow this to divide us, but instead to continue to stand together firmly on the core values that we share.
Although Dave has endured tremendous pressure from the media and from some leadership within the party, he is committed to staying the course and doing the the job of Republican National Committeeman which the large majority of delegates elected him to do. I encourage you to pray for him and also pray for our grassroots movement in Michigan, that we might not have knee jerk reactions as so often seen in our culture, but that we might rise above to have thoughtful conversations on the important issues of our day, while we navigate the government our founders gave us to best pass down the torch of liberty to future generations.
I pray that we will stand united and strong with each other on conservative principles and Constitutional freedom. I pray that we will not stand silently by as attempts are made to destroy fellow liberty fighters. And I pray that God will bless each one of us to have the endurance, grace, and courage to weather these attacks so that we might be an example for others to stand firm and stay in the fight.
You can show Dave your support and encourage him with an email at agemaforrnc@gmail.com.
I truly am grateful for each one of you and the strong stand you take for liberty. We cannot do this alone, each one of us is vital to the cause and I sincerely appreciate your efforts and sacrifices in our battle for the heart and soul of our nation.

This spoke to me, and very clearly.
And it makes a point about those who purport to speak for us in legislatures and executive positions already. When they answer FIRST to political correct concerns, and deny the values of those who trusted them to have their backs; and it reminds us that Judas' actions were indeed of human nature.
Sad to see this once decent conservative/libertarian political website turn into a haven for sanctimonious religious bigots. The tone of this site over the past few years deteriorated from positive outreach to exclusionary supremacy filled with vitriol and hatred for anyone different from themselves. Your hero, Dave Agema, is your perfect poster boy. For the dozen or fewer of you who frequent this site, have fun wallowing in your own bile. I guess it's better to have you vent your fear and ignorance-based hatred here than out in the real world.
Because pushing this fraud was so intelligent? Kid, you couldn't find your ass with both hands if you tried. - CS
And because you have no positive commentary or suggestions, you yourself reach into the wormy apples bag of inflammatory rhetoric. Nothing to offer but your own brand of worthless hyperbole.
Why? Because its NOT OK to express opinion any longer, unless it meets some politically correct notion of the day.
How pathetic.
This IS the real world. Dave Agema is not running for an elected position. He already won that.
Who cares what a boring defunct website has to say. Do you think lending your support to stupidity makes it less stupid?
Good question when it applies to those disseminating deceitful agitprop, Mr. Sylvester. - CS
Check. Boring websites.. right? Hey you go ahead and take full ownership of the second part too.
Indeed.
One aspect of the Agema brouhaha that goes unnoticed is how few of the folks attacking him (liberal commentators, of course, but particularly fellow Republicans) likely never have read precisely what Agema actually said, in context. It's troubling that Republicans would unquestioningly accept liberal versions of conservative comments.
Could not possibly agree more. Then again, look at the weasels in the Party putting on the indignation act. They're not Conservatives, but they are Republicans.
Thank you, Cindy, for your thoughtful message. When I read Betsy DeVos and Nolan Finley's comments about Dave, I was incensed. I wrote a reply in the comment section. Basically, I said it was convenient for Betsy not to state just what the Republican Party stood for (if Dave Agema didn't represent it) and Nolan Finley not to state it either. Later, I saw a similar column in the Lansing State Journal that was taken from the Detroit Free Press. I sent a letter to the editor to LSJ, which it has yet to publish. I will email Dave. I listened to video of his radio interview. I love that man and will support him all the way.
I was wondering if there is an on-line petition to support Dave , or something that we cound take to a teaparty or church to sign for support?
