Get a load of the latest Michigan republican party spin

Does anyone even proof this before it gets posted?!?

As if they were not already utterly clueless regarding what they allegedly stand for (Hint: I’ve included a small sampling below of what they have obviously forgotten/willfully chosen to ignore (source)):

I BELIEVE free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.

I BELIEVE government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.

You need to see what came in my e-mail this morning on how the “conservative” republicans are trying to cover up the massive stench from their latest batch of stink-burger bills pertaining their road funding “solution” by releasing this nifty little informational graphic so that we can all drink the kool aid all look the other way and pretend that there isn’t a dime’s worth of difference between Michigan republicans and the democrats.

{No, you will not be able to un-see the horror, er, I mean, stop laughing at the patent hypocrisy below the fold}

Make sure that you're wearing waders...it's getting pretty deep, folks!

Now originally, I was going to kludge together a graphic of my own.

But, truth be told; I can just as easily eviscerate their arguments just as easily in this post, so here I go!

Them: “The House republicans roads plan fixes crumbling roads at the lowest cost to Taxpayers possible.”

Hmmmm, so a 40% hike in my vehicle registration fee (per vehicle),increased fuel taxes (with a built in yearly increase to boot) and a constant increase in the price that I pay for items when I go to the store is the Michigan republicans idea of lowest cost?!?

Why is there no mention of reprogramming 100% of the sales tax collected at the pump (we’re talking about $1-billion here) and using that towards roads?

Don’t even want to mention the superfluous items in the state budget like the Comprehensive Transportation Fund  (almost $200-million right there) which takes away road funding and allocates it towards areas other than roads???

Sad.

Moving on.

Them: “The House republicans roads plan provides $1.2-billion to finally fix our infrastructure.

Where did you people learn basic math? From the people running the numbers for Detroit?

The diesel tax won’t go up until 2017. The first fuel tax hike on both types of fuel doesn’t kick in until 2018.

We’re talking almost three years away before that revenue comes in!

Sorry, but I won’t let you borrow my DMC-12 to bring back those funds back from the future to plug that gaping hole in your budget!

Them: “The House republicans roads plan provides tax relief to lower-income families, the middle class, seniors and every single worker in the state.

And you use that argument with a straight face?

Newsflash: We are fully aware of similar “promises” made by republicans in the past.

Remember the Michigan Income tax rate that was to have been lowered to 3.9% several years ago?

Michigan republicans reneged on that promise when you revamped the Michigan Business taxes.

And seniors?

Michigan republicans threw them under the bus by imposing a tax on their pensions during that same year.

So, I hope that you’ll forgive me when I say that any “promise” made by the Michigan republicans alleging any kind of tax relief to be suspect, at best.

If this is the Michigan republican party’s idea of “Getting the job done”…it is an epic failure!

That been said, who is up for a Part-Time Legislature?

What if I told you that Republicans are just one of the wings to the same bird? They're the UniParty. Republicrats. Get over it.

Being a Conservative has absolutely nothing to do with those who call themselves a Republican. To keep quoting those words from their "principles" page is an exercise in futility. The sooner one grasps the concept the faster they will realize they get f***ed voting for them.

Hmmmm, so a 40% hike in my vehicle registration fee (per vehicle), increased fuel taxes (with a built in yearly increase to boot)....

Little noticed, HB 4736 has an annual 'registration ratchet' based upon Michigan income, not inflation. See the top of page 11. The Legislature is essentially demanding a fixed portion of your income to register your vehicle, year after year. Not even attempting to soft soap the public with tales of road work cost inflation - they are now demanding a fixed portion of Michigan's gross income.

This gets really entertaining if a $ 15 minimum wage passes. Since the Obama economy is mostly sub $ 15 per hour jobs, a sudden doubling of the minimum wage will increase vehicle registrations another 75%! Feel the Bern....
