Capitol Confidential Receives Multiple Awards For Impactful Journalism
Reporting can sometimes be more of a dance than simply presenting the facts.
Capitol Confidential has become a powerhouse of Michigan government and policy reporting. Since its inception in 2010 it has blossomed into a respected source of information and insight. And its writing is now being recognized for that growth.
In typical ‘main stream media,’ there are natural limiters to obtaining the truth, or at least properly reporting it. Be it an advertiser’s objection to something once written, or a source of information who might have been embarrassed by a writer’s depth of coverage, there are conditions which can prevent a full telling of events; even if the tale of those events is comprise of “Just the facts ma’am.”
We might be inclined to opine from these pages, but more often there is a collection of facts and history woven into our stories. If one looks through RightMi.com, it might be hard to find advertising, because we can equally offend all comers. Not that a few bucks wouldn’t help, but enjoying our content and putting the neck out to support what is an informative opinion site are two different options.
And one involves risk.

What Zoomie Said! …with a Rusty Chainsaw
by Corinthian Scales • • 0 Comments
I just love looking around the Patriot community in neighboring states to see what is happening in their parts. So, anyone heading to Indiana this weekend for some “free fishing“? Oh noes! It’s Mike Pence’s Pure Michigan Indiana.
Nah, Team R doesn’t operate on the same orchestrated playbook. Yannow something, all these nauseating revenue raising bastards within government that *think* they’re doing us little people a favor by tossing out the occasional we should be grateful “gift” really do need to have their asses thrown out on the street.
Even more outrageous is that they actually use their “providing crumbs” meme as a propaganda tools. Just watch Joe Graves, Martin Howrylak, Nancy Jenkins*, Andrea LaFontaine*, and Phil Potvin. The other Lansing critters must’ve shot their video budget wad pushing their throw ’em a bone crap during the winter (Ray Franz, Ken Goike, Joe Graves, Nancy Jenkins*, Klint Kesto, Andrea LaFontaine*, Tom Leonard, Ed Mcbroom, Rick Outman, Peter Pettalia (Unfortunately, is my gelatinous assclown), Bruce Rendon, and Pat Sommerville).
What Zoomie says!

Detroit Bailout Leaves Michigan Taxpayers On The Hook For More Than $195 Million – AND A LOT MORE!
by rabman13 • • 4 Comments
Below you will find just a few examples of how Michigan Taxpayers are on the hook for a hell of a lot more than this “Grand Crap Sandwich Bargain” of $195 Million of your tax dollars! If this isn’t leaving a bad taste in your wallet just wait, now that this is done they are working real hard for you up in Lansing to pass legislation as to raise your Gas Taxes too.
While Detroit Goes Bankrupt, Michigan Taxpayers Hand Disney’s ‘OZ’ Nearly $40 Million in Film Credits and this is but one example there are numerous other Film Subsidies that have and will be handed out to Obama’s Hollywood supporters!
The hard part to swallow is our legislators all think it’s funny that they are spending our tax dollars on this wasteful venture that corrupt politicians created in the first place. They won’t be out done they will all laugh when they pass yet more tax increases on we Taxpaying Citizens of Michigan.

Depopulating The Upper Peninsula
by Jason • • 3 Comments
Under the new EPA rules that our congress (incl Dan Benishek) has ALLOWED to be developed, the probability of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula being vacated is elevated.
This is no hype.
The upper peninsula is served primarily by Coal fired electrical generation. Replacing that is cost prohibitive, and efforts to upgrade existing service has already begun, yet fails to meet the now even more stringent regulatory efforts by the Obama administration.
With even the cleanest combustion, the product is CO2 and water vapor. Both are greenhouse gasses, but one is being used as a lever by those who wish to get complete control over the population; where it lives, what it eats, and how it heals itself, etc..
The failure of Congress to remove funding for the EPA has allowed the poser in chief to continue ratcheting up the difficulty level for Americans to live without the threat of government shutting them down. This is not good policy, but rather a means to an end for an ideological presidency.
We have little time left. Start getting involved

We’re looking at a new level of cognitive dissonance coming from Lansing.

A long time ago, I would be asked to accompany family members who wanted to go to the local Fretter or Highland whenever they wanted to buy any appliances/electronics (yes, I know that I’m dating myself here). They always had this question in mind, ‘How An Appliance Home Warranty Can Help Protect Your Budget?’ Part of it was because they knew that I had a vehicle big enough to bring home whatever they bought without much trouble. The other was that I could usually be counted on to hook it up after I brought it in.
One of the things I hated most about those experiences was dealing with the salesmen when actually making the purchase.
Even though my relatives were usually buying something listed in the newspaper ad so what we should be paying going out the door wasn’t a mystery, at the counter the salesman would always give them that sincere look and always ask them if they wanted to purchase additional items to go with what they were there to buy in the first place. Looking a little baffled at the salesman’s question and not appearing certain about how to answer, I’d step in at that point and tell them firmly, but politely, that I’ve hooked up enough TV’s, stereos, etc. to know what else I would need to get it to work and would’ve had it on the counter if we actually needed it. Being a little put off, but still undiscouraged, they turn to them again and ask about getting additional “warranty/insurance coverage” for their purchase. More often than not, it wasn’t any better than the manufacturer’s warranty. I strongly told them “no” for a second time.
At the time I didn’t know this, but they were using a technique called “upselling” which is a used for the benefit of the seller in additional to the actual sale of the item.
“Upselling” is also a technique being used by the Republican Leadership in Lansing to rationalize to the people they represent why they have abandoned their own stated principle of, ‘government practicing fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.’

Not surprised.
Trott would likely lose in the General to anyone nicer than Hanibal Lector anyhow. But we’ll be watching. The “El Gringo Bandito” Reference BTW, was just too good to pass up.
Perhaps you might just go and READ IT.

““War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Two Towers
From only a story perhaps, but the words reach out into our reality.
Our fallen shall not be forgotten.
