Standing

The quickest win is to make you irrelevant before you argue.

I see a similarity here.

“Standing.” That magical word judges love to toss around when they want to clear their dockets. If you don’t have skin in the game, you don’t get to play.

Now, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson wants to codify that same escape hatch into election challenges. According to one of her her shiny new proposals:

“The requirement that the challenger have personal knowledge that the challenged voter is ineligible is not satisfied when the challenger’s basis for their claim is third-hand information such as an online database, United States Postal Service information, or other information from a third-party such as another resident contacted during a house-to-house canvass.”

Translation? If you actually do the work—research the rolls, cross-check the addresses, talk to the neighbors—sorry, still not good enough.

As Patrice Johnson, founder of the Michigan Fair Elections Institute, put it:

“These rules handcuff the clerks and create a bureaucratic quagmire — all while extending the SOS’s overreach. While framed as ‘standardization,’ these rules create significant barriers to legitimate citizen oversight of voter rolls and petitions.”

In other words, the people who should have standing—citizens—are being told to sit down.

Dodging the Bullet

The Best of Intentions, the Worst of Results

There’s a saying that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. In Lansing, they’re not just paving the road—they’re zoning it for mixed use, demanding affordability quotas, and handing out pamphlets on how to organize a tenant union.

Let’s talk about the so-called “Tenant Empowerment Package” and the other housing policy boondoggles our Democrat-led legislature has been salivating over. If they had succeeded in passing the full suite of 2023–2024 proposals, the rental housing market in Michigan would be a scorched field of “For Sale” signs and padlocked doors.

Fortunately, some of these landmines didn’t make it to detonation. We dodged a few bullets—but the gun is still loaded.

Granholm Strikes Again – Lies, LNG, and Lousy Leadership

Hiding more than facial deformities.

It’s always the “smartest people in the room” who think you won’t notice when they hide the truth in the bottom drawer.

Turns out Canada’s favorite export, former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm during her stint at the DoE, buried a Department of Energy report that completely torpedoed the justification for Biden’s 2024 LNG export pause. The same pause that crippled U.S. energy leverage during a time of global instability and emboldened our enemies.

Why? Because facts weren’t politically useful. Can’t have reality contradicting the climate cult narrative, now can we?

According to HotAir:

“The Energy Department has learned that former Secretary [Jennifer] Granholm and the Biden White House intentionally buried a lot of data and released a skewed study to discredit the benefits of American LNG… the administration intentionally deceived the American public to advance an agenda that harmed American energy security, the environment and American lives.”

Slotkin Rebuttal???

Open Borders, Pro EV Mandate Politician to Respond to Joint Address

LOL. Fail Bot.

Elissa Slotkin will respond to President Donald J. Trump’s Joint Address to Congress tonight. Senator Slotkin stands opposed to President Trump’s agenda to lower costs, bring back manufacturing, and secure our borders.

Slotkin voted against overturning Biden’s tailpipe emissions rule, a rule that would force automakers to sell more electric vehicles, killing auto manufacturing jobs. President Trump stood up for American consumers and autoworkers and repealed this de facto electric vehicle mandate.

There is more.

Jocelyn Benson: From Election Fraud Adjacent to Aspiring Governor

Jocelyn Benson - a name synonymous with 'election fraud'

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has declared her candidacy for governor in 2026. Yeah, this is the same Jocelyn Benson whose political ascent has been peppered with controversy, eyebrow-raising connections, and what some might call an opportunistic knack for ‘Teflon’ politics. Let’s take a little walk down memory lane and unpack her storied past.

2010: Fake Tea Party Shenanigans

You may recall that in 2010, Michigan witnessed a blatant attempt at election fraud: the creation of a fake Tea Party to siphon votes from legitimate candidates. Two Democratic operatives from Oakland County, Jason Bauer and Mike McGuinness, were convicted for their roles in this debacle. Bauer got probation and a slap on the wrist, while McGuinness faced perjury and forgery charges. Fun fact: both of these fine gentlemen were connected to none other than Jocelyn Benson.

I Guess Tipping Is Over?

Perhaps the closure of more restaurants will end tipping altogether?

I have always been 20 plus percent on the tips anyhow, so one way or another if all else remained the same it’s a great big “Meh!”

But Democrats in power are a special kind of stupid, and lack the situational awareness the usually comes as a part of the package when a human is created.  The minimum wage nonsense would of course .. eventually evolve into this:

Michigan’s tipped wage system is on the verge of total annihilation next month, and now, bars and restaurants are getting ready for the change by adding large fees onto the bills of customers—a “Whitmer Tax,” if you will.

The issues stems from a 2018 ballot measure drastically expanding the minimum wage that was supported by Whitmer and the Democrats, as well as a subsequent ruling from the Michigan Supreme Court, saying the legislature’s attempt to reform the measure while concurrently adopting it was unconstitutional.

The reality is now upon us, and we would be mistaken to think it affects only the wage earners.

The mom and pop restaurateurs who somehow survived Whitmer’s covid absudities will now be tested again.  As I may be one who drops a decent tip at my usual hangouts, I know there are others who may opt to forget about ‘date night’ altogether.  Perhaps those ‘wealthy’ business owners can move their insurmountable savings into more profitable ventures. (Insert eye-roll here)

But serving folks who have done reasonably well by providing excellent service will begin to run out of employment options.  Restaurant’s need patrons no matter what – a reality that the left takes for granted.

Some Questions

Gee ..why did Democrats wait until AFTER the election to put this crap out there??

Got one of Adam’s heads up messages via the in-box a few minutes ago.

He notes the Lame Duck Democrats are trying to get something ..anything passed during the most dangerous time in a legislative session. He says:

But the only way the Democrats can pass all of these extreme bills is with 100% unanimous Democrat votes . . . or Republicans crossing over to vote with them.

Even if you’ve already done so, contact your lawmakers immediately and tell them to vote NO on ALL Lame-Duck legislation.

Democrats know how unpopular their extremist bills are. That’s why they didn’t take the votes before the election – and in many cases noted above, didn’t even introduce the bills until after the election.

But it’s critical you and I keep up the pressure.

These are the questions I have.

Dark Money In Michigan?

Say it ain't so

If you subscribe to the news:

Allies of Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer used millions of dollars from secret donors and a web of nonprofit organizations to promote her policy agenda and celebrate Democrats who joined in championing it, according to a tax filing obtained by The Detroit News.

Michigan  Democrats who rail on about dark money in Politics..

The article hit on one specific group: The Road To Michigan’s Future which has a few recognizable figures.  Former Lt Governor Cherry as one.

Which begs the question “How long will it be before old politicians just go away??

Time To Light It Up Again

She is a tyrant.  Don’t forget this

Whitmer’s recent enactment of gun control measures are a step in the wrong direction. The legislation introduces universal background checks for all firearm purchases and mandates ‘safe storage requirements.’

While proponents argue these laws aim to enhance public safety, it’s far past time to examine their potential impact on law-abiding citizens. (The rest of us not currently holding the top three executive positions in MI State govt.) The universal background checks extend to private sales, raising concerns about the implications for responsible gun owners. Additionally, the safe storage mandates may impose challenges for individuals seeking immediate access to firearms for self-defense.
