Let Them Buy Their OWN Damned Insurance.

We finally have a chance to tell Obama where to shove the atrocity known as the ACA, but ...

State Senator Jim Marleau is simply a two faced Obama sycophant.  He operates under the Republican banner, but he has presented himself as a wimpy cradle-to-grave patriarchal potlicker.  On the upcoming decision in the Supreme Court he doesn’t represent the stated GOP view that Obamacare is bad, but rather wonders aloud (sympathetically) what all the leeches in Michigan will do if their precious health care entitlements go away.  And then he suggests something must be done!

“He could have done it that way to begin with, but he wasn’t really excited about that,” said state Sen. Jim Marleau, R-Lake Orion.

“I think he’d have to. Our back is up against the wall, and we’ve got a lot of people in this state who are using it. That’s the thing. What do you do with those people?”

Let them find their own insurance without fear of penalties you imbecile!

Reality check.

Proposal 15-1 was likely cover for Snyder to get certain debts paid down so more of our resources could be poured into the failure that is Detroit. If it passed, it would have covered a lot of his issues including transportation (trains) infrastructure, existing bonds, and even a few more bucks for those schools that only know how to employ ‘effective teachers’

MiCPAC – Rebecca Kiessling

"Conceived in Rape" Author Rebecca Kiessling addresses the conferees at the 2015 MiCPAC in Troy.

Finally getting this out of the to-do bin.

A couple of weeks ago, Rebecca was one of the speakers at the 2015 Michigan Conservative Political Action Conference, speaking on ‘messaging.’  Rebecca knows a little about messaging, as she has been using her personal story for several years now to reach those who think that rape is justification for the murder of the unborn.

She advocates a true pro-life stance which recognizes that even ‘in the case of Rape,’ abortion is murder.

Sorry for those brief moments when the audio is overwhelmed by the activity in the other conference room. Lessons have likely been learned for next year’s event.

MDoT Train Wreck Still Emptying Michigan Wallets

Michigan Department of Transportation passing even more cost through to taxpayers.

Train Wreck ImageThe failure that is Kirk Steudle and the Michigan Department of Transportation continues to demonstrate that it cannot plan nor manage taxpayer funds efficiently.

RightMi.com readers might recall that the MDoT has been spending taxpayer dollars to babysit equipment that other people own. In the last few years, it has amounted to a drop in the bucket when compared to what is a bloated state budget of 52+ billion smackers, right?  But buckets eventually fill from all the droplets as we all know, and the spigot in this case is opening more.  From the Lansing State Journal:

At the current lease rates, that means MDOT would have to sink about another $4.4 million into lease charges before it is able to put the cars into service.

That line is sufficient to point out that Steudle’s comment earlier in the year was nothing more than lip service.

“These cars are costing us money right now and we’ve got to figure out how are we going to … stop the bleeding,”

As the old joke goes .. “Whats this ‘we’ s##t Kemosabe?”

TAX DAY PROTEST AGAINST SALES TAX HIKE!

Will you let Michigan’s sales tax increase this spring? Join fellow taxpayers on April 15th to protest the tax hike!

Who: YOU & fellow taxpayers who think taxes on your family are high enough already!

What: A public protest against the May 5th vote to raise the state sales tax from 6 cents to 7 cents (a 17% increase) that will cost the average MI family $500 in new taxes next year if passed.

Where: 500 W. Big Beaver Road (Metro Parkway) In front of the Troy City Hall (just east of I-75 & Big Beaver Road intersection in Troy).

Why: Tax hike supporters are spending millions to pass this increase at the May election.  This rally is the best way for you to say, “No way!” .

Herding

Taking away the options, our elected class leaves us with no choice, right?

sheep-brandedSo, do you say “Baaaa” or “Moooo” on Wednesday May 6th?

That is, if you intend on voting for proposal 15-1.  And all the animal sounds notwithstanding, will anyone reading this accept the fact that they have pretty much been ‘herded’ like common farm critters if they decide to support the measure?

Consider how ‘heeling’ with a border collie is done.  By taking away the options for movement, a nip at the herded animal’s feet, and the dog  manipulates the path of the animal so that it pursues the desired direction.  When one goes astray, the new direction is blocked ensuring a return to the planned route.

When looking at proposal 15-1, it should not have gone unnoticed that the scheduling of the proposal’s vote is at the time when the roads are at their peak ‘crap’ condition.  The end of winter and at a time when patching work by the local road commission has not completely caught up with the seasonal destruction.

How ‘Special’ The Snyder Calley Team Is

Among other things, the state needs to pay up.

ballotAnd we’re here to remind them, as this isn’t the first time its been said.

Here’s hoping every township, and county clerk is ready with a bill for services on May 6, 2015.  In fact, maybe it might not be a bad idea to remind your local election officials to ready the receipt pile and get a stamped envelope ready to submit the invoice for officiating one of the most senseless proposals yet.

Proposal 15-1 is going to cost us money no matter what.  Legislators added about $9 million or more dollars to the cost of doing state business when they punted to the citizens of Michigan in that December lame duck. A recent special election in Grand Traverse County cost over $85,000 and we have about 90,000 for population.  At a cost of about $1 per Michiganian, each county, city, and township government is having to officiate what is accurately called a ‘special election.’

And how special is it?

More Info On Proposal One

The contentious May issue is complicated, but understandable. It just takes time.

There is a ton of information to be shared on the road funding issue.

TV-ADSRightMi.com has pointed out many of the flaws, and the bad policy associated with the late night lame-duck session passed monstrosity voters will be asked to approve May 5th.   We pointed out the obvious in a graphic (to the right)  only 24 hours ago, and as of this writing, the graphic has been viewed over 2200 times on Facebook alone.  (still climbing fast) We invite those who are here looking for information on this constitutional disaster to sift through a few pages on our site for all you need to know about the single biggest tax increase many of Michiganians will face in their lives.

And the argument is fierce. On one side we have the shills for the road industry pimping the YES vote, and the other side we have families who don’t much feel like picking out the switch so ‘daddy’ government can beat them down with an additional $500 a year in taxes.

Union Growth In Michigan?

What happens when the threat of permanence is no more?

MEA-NMCIt occurred to me recently, that we may be seeing the first potentially lasting effects of Michigan’s relatively new Right-to-Work status.

On March 12, 2015, it was announced that NMC faculty had surprisingly decided to subject itself to union dues and contracts negotiated by third parties on their behalf. 

TRAVERSE CITY –The Michigan Employment Relations Commission has certified the election and a majority of eligible faculty who voted have decided that all non-supervisory, full-time and part-time appointed faculty will be in a collective bargaining unit represented by the Michigan Education Association.

Northwestern Michigan College will begin negotiations with the Michigan Education Association for an agreement that will cover wages, benefits, and other terms and conditions of employment for this group.

“Northwestern Michigan College will begin negotiations with the Michigan Education Association.” Check.
