Are We Michiganians or Michiganders?

Is Governor Snyder’s Use of the Term “Michiganders” Discriminatory to Women? Michiganian is the “official” term for a person from Michigan, according to the U.S. Government Printing Office.Michiganians

The Michigan Historical Center also uses Michiganian, and it is the term of choice in the Michigan Pioneer and Historical Collections, a 40 volume collection of reminiscences, transcripts of historical documents and other historical material about Michigan life dating back to the 1870s.

The term goose applies to the female in particular while gander applies to the male in particular. So when Governor Snyder uses the term Michigander he is essentially leaving woman out of the equation and is discriminatory towards Michigan women. Therefore the correct term as to be all inclusive including both male and female citizens should be Michiganians.

The number of women serving in the Michigan state Legislature’s “Good ‘Ole Boy’s Club” has fallen to a 20-year low. Michigan is ranked 36th in the nation in terms of female representation in the Legislature. Even though women represent 51% of the state’s population, only 18.9% of the legislators in Lansing are female.

    Okay, you've lost me.

What does the gender of the person in office have even remotely to do with anything?

When it comes to standing on principle, I'd rather see only one person like Wendy Day in office, rather than people like Rebekah "Sure, I'll cut my honeymoon short to vote on a tax hike" Warren, Rashida "Tax Cheat" Tlaib, or even Real Estate Fraudsterette Diane Hathaway.

I certainly hope that is not what you are advocating?

Oh, I haven't forgotten about the Michigan democratic party catspaws Beavis and Butthead.

But given the extent of the cleanup operation afterwards to make certain that no other democrats were implicated, and the (lack of) action on the part of the MIA-GOP to publicly crucify anyone else involved and maintain any order to the election process, it was kind of hard to add her to the list.

Not advocating anything KG One just flushing out the Snideholm supporters. Personally though I prefer the term Michiganians over Michiganders.

Oy vey. All this crotch based nonsense makes me tired, and all one ends up with is Little Ronna foisted upon a Party apparatchik, and a self-funding frumpy fence sitter already wired in with Mitch "punch 'em in the nose" McConnell fundraisers as a U.S. Senate candidate.

If there truly is a vagina representation problem being that "Even though women represent 51% of the state’s population," then they need to go take a good long hard look in the mirror to resolve that issue.

The MoleRattler did females no favors in this state and continues to blunder on nationally with championing the Butcher of Benghazi's super-PAC.

LOL.. I could care less about the content of female Vs. Male as long as policy is enacted properly. (which is about NONE of the time)

As for the word? I play along. Don't think it matters all that much.

What a stupid controversy.. (assuming my satire detector hasn't failed). Use whichever term you prefer, the pretentious "Michigainan" or the fun loving "Michigander". The latter would be my choice, being a fan of puns.
And what's this hand wringing over the make up of the legislature (if that's not sexist)? Are you saying that women can only be represented by women? That's a dangerous contention more typical of the drooling left. That works all ways, if you believe that proposition. So a white person can't represent a black... a black can't represent a white... and whatever other little cliques the left divides us into.

The pretentious or the fun loving? Really. Well, perhaps so, although, every time I hear the word Michigander uttered the back of my hand itches to knock said individuals teeth down their throat.

As for the rest of your stirrings... I could give a shit. I stand by my position above.

Lovely, just lovely, both of them (shrugs shoulders and walks away.)
I would like to imagine hopefully that the missing ganders will perhaps have time to consider their ducklings. Their trigeminal nerve should send them homing to rescue their offspring from the clutches of...various educational impostors. Else wise, these same gander are looking as if they just want to cook a goose if they protest too strenuously against the evils of the system.
