A Time For Choosing

There is only ONE Logical choice for Chair of the Michigan Republican Party.

There is no question that it is time for a change in the Republican Party.

We won’t sugar coat it.  Bobby Schostak and the ‘elite’ within the party have produced only a fractured base over the last several years.  Each time the grassroots begins to feel a part of the process, it is told to wait its turn, be pragmatic, and swallow hard with the neo-progressive efforts at reaching out to the socially and fiscally broken ideologues which normally associate with left of center political organizations.  This is unacceptable.

The cronyism and political patronage that has shown itself repeatedly hardly allows any self respecting conservative Republican to make the claim that there is integrity within the party.  The failure of party leadership to step up and offer guidance to an administration and legislature that has done more to advance liberal planks than the last (Democrat) administration is outrageous.

But it is not the party platform that is wrong, the party leadership has been.  And now we are expected to look at the coronation of handpicked succession, and expect anything different?

The ‘establishment’ promoted candidate Ronna Romney, has not even chaired a local party. Other than the name which also bought her a seat as national committeewoman, her only other leadership position was chair of Women for Mitt in 2012; A position which hardly helped, as Mitt lost handily with women in Michigan to the epic failure Barack Obama. And Jeff Sakwa her running mate? (whom we have little problem with) There is no question he was added to the ticket merely to lend it some substance from a marginally effective role.

This is hardly a good way to go into the 2016 presidential cycle.

There is a possibility of bringing fundraising experience, conservative principles, and a renewed integrity to the leadership of the Michigan Republican Party.  To restore faith from grass roots, reflect a stronger vision of Republican ideals, and heal the cavernous divide that has existed since the republican resurgence of 2010, it requires true Reagan conservative values.  It requires a working knowledge of the political system.

It requires real experience tempered by HUNDREDS of campaigns, Thousands of trusted contacts, and the ability to pull them all together with a shared goal of a stronger more relevant GOP in Michigan; One that lives up to the promise of the platform, holds its elected membership to its word, and creates a state party that is envied for its effectiveness and clarity.

This is why Rightmi.com supports the Hughes/Sheridan ticket for the Michigan Republican party chair/vice chair.

Norm Hughes has been instrumental in engaging the grassroots conservatives of the Republican party for several election cycles. A prominent organizer, he has been responsible for the yearly (highly successful) Michigan Conservative Political Action Conferences.  He answers the state party need for fundraising with strong financial contacts nationwide who would be willing to help Michigan Republicans elect a Conservative Republican president.

Norm has a broad understanding of tactical messaging, and his experience with Republican politics spans the entire lives of other potential chair candidates. A true conservative Republican who has invested literally years of time and energy into making the state of Michigan more vibrant and productive, and he was truly ground floor and critical to the recently enacted right-to-work legislation.

I think your grossly under estimating Ronna Romneys qualifications. She also allegedly "helped" run a phone bank for 2 weeks. This is invaluable experience. Don't forget when her polical career began 3 years ago Ronna Romney, on her own merit got elected as national delegate to vote for her uncle in Tampa.
