Betcha didn’t see this coming:
“Today, Detroit’s five state senators stood united in supporting a major road funding package. This bill will allow us to speed up repair of Detroit’s roads and make major improvements to the bus service for our 100,000 passengers daily. With their support HB 5477 passed the Senate by a 23-14 vote. Be sure to thank Senators Virgil Smith, Coleman Young, Jr., Burt Johnson, Morris Hood III, and Tupac Hunter for their leadership and encourage your representatives in the State House to support this important legislation.”
Did anyone catch anything earlier about paying more at the pump to support mass transit?
Me neither.
Oh, and it gets better.
{Story continues below the fold}
Rick Snyder commented during the recent election that, “if we didn’t feel it yet, we soon will.”
Talk about an understatement!
First, Michigan Taxpayers get shaken down by republican Ron Weiser to the tune of about $195-million because the people who support the DIA didn’t want to actually pay for it out of their own pockets.
Next, Metro Detroit Taxpayers got taken to the cleaners by Snyder appointee Kevyn Orr and his new Great Lakes Water Authority. Without providing any real opportunity to accept, EM Orr forced us to pay Detroit over $2-billion to “lease” the Detroit Water and Sewer Department for the next 40-years. We also get to donate towards deadbeats those who choose not to pay for their water and sewer service.
Then, Pres. B.O. comes to town. There’s an election coming up. Got to make sure that he stays in the good graces of Detroit Voters. Here, have some free money and new buses…courtesy of the federal government. It won’t cost you anything (Hint hint: Remember to vote democrat if you want more free loot)
OABTW, I didn’t forget about the Snyder-backed RTA scam.
Now we have the republicans, fortunately not all of them (they needed to “entice” the democrats to sign off on this), but enough of them giving it to us again…good and hard!
Is there anyone who can tell me what the difference between the democrats and republicans were again?
I’m confused.
More importantly, why should I pay an additional 41-cents/gallon at the pump in what was originally sold to us as going only towards road construction, now going for more buses in Detroit?
Tri-County residents already pay a tax for SMART (the local mass transit authority).
And we already had Santa Obama make an early delivery, so I’m failing to see the “need” for any additional funding towards Detroit’s failed bus system.
Making matters worse, why the secret deal between Richardville and Whitmer?
As of this morning, I haven’t seen the other tie-barred bills on the schedule.
With the sales tax ‘alternative” shot down, Rick Snyder’s plan to have us pick our own tax hike (poison) went down in flames faster than Mark Schauer’s campaign dreams.
Sen. Whitmer, I certainly hope that you like disappointment.
Because any “assurances” that you had originally sought aren’t going to amount to squat in about one month.
And Michigan Motorists?
We get to see Lansing play Three-Card Monte all over again with our taxes.
Who wants to guess where the money will really end up at the end of the day?
Ya, and just look at the new House leaders (Cotter, Leonard, VerHeulen) who voted for this bullshit.
The Nerd and a certain "top Calley aide" are laughing their collectivist asses off at Boobus Michiganderus.
That's one of the main reasons I've been holding off making any comments about Cotter & Meekhof.
I'm waiting to be impressed by either of them.
A suggestion. Find yourself a comfy chesterfield to lounge upon while you wait.
