I would argue that my generation has worked pretty hard (through apathy or outright support) to 'keep' younger generations just as clueless as possible in terms of their public education.
We inarguably control what they are and have been exposed to. .period.
When you hand your children over to the (?) himself so that simple math/morals or any sense of exceptional national attitude is destroyed within them(?)..it is impossible to blame the kids themselves for mimicking the mold that they were intentionally cast in to keep them quiet as their future (now) crumbles around them.
If these kids were afforded the same hard knocks education that we were?
We'd all be dying our hair right now in an attempt to NOT look like an older generation (rightfully) experiencng a backlash/wrath originating from simple balanced budget knowledge gained over time.
I wouldn't worry too much about "passing the torch".
Having it passed to you involves doing just a little bit of work on your part in order to to actually receive it.
That bar alone should eliminate most of the problems right there...
