” For those not aware, SB 561 was introduced by Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof the morning before the hearing as a companion bill to SB 442 introduced by Senator Mike Green. Both bills came up in committee and were amended with changes not fully made available to the public until the next day. The bills are now tie-bared together, meaning neither can become law without the other, effectively making them a “package”.
SB 442 S-2 is now a much better bill, while SB 561 S-1 is almost completely gun control. However, they must be taken together as they are tie-bared. I like Senator Mike Green, and have considered him to be a 2nd Amendment ally in the past, but this time it appears that he misfired badly.
Mike Green can be a good legislator but other times one thinks he was dropped on his head. He voted against Freedom To Work even though he promised to support it. He held hostage, then flipped his vote - the deciding vote - to put on the ballot that horrendous tax proposal 15-1, turned down by the voters 81% to 19%. What did he get in return? Promose of a vote on his bill to change county gun boards to issue by county clerks with background checks by state police. They took his vote, spent $10 Million trying to shove it down our throats, but did not pass it that term.

That's not perfect but, at least it's not like SB 442, which criminalizes one for getting printed or, loons who can make such claim to LEO.
