Not that I would recommend going out on the ice so far when the wind is blowing like this, but some of the reports of ice caves, and buckled sheets are compelling.
Some great photography coming from the frozen lake this year.
You Betcha! (0)Nuh Uh.(0)
Reminds me of a couple of years ago when I went out on Lake Huron with some friends near Lexington.
We had walked what felt like about a mile off shore.
The wind wasn't was caught my attention at that time, but large sections of ice jutting up at various angles and the surreal sounds from large sections of the ice sheet shifting around.
Meet the dePressed had an interesting exchange two weeks ago between Rep. Marsha Blackburn and Bill Nye.
David Gregory and Bill Nye thought that they had an easy mark. They didn't count on someone like Rep. Blackburn actually being prepared with facts and figures to counter the "facts" put out by Nye & Gregory,
About 3/4's of the way through I had lost what little respect I had for Nye when he went into a tirade about Climate change "denial" directed at Rep. Blackburn.
They also didn't have any answers regarding the fact that other countries either are using, or will be increasing the amount of coal used to generate electricity.
Aren't "scientists" supposed to be trained to use logic to come to a conclusion.
I recall something vaguely from grade school on the scientific method that employed similar methods and not hyperbole and name-calling.
