    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

I have more than once on this site cited a paraphrase of John F. Kennedy's warning:  Those who insist on making a peaceful takeover impossible will ultimately make a takeover by revolt inevitable, and perhaps even necessary.  Since we cannot seem to trust the blueblood elites in the establishment to get the message, let's go below the fold and discuss an idea to "grease the skids" for their removal from power.

Mentioning the term "abusive relationship" will often conjure up any number of images in the listener's mind, from a physically violent spouse or parent to a tyrannical employer or a manipulative neighbor.  But no matter the scenario or the type of relationship (domestic, intimate, personal, professional, or social), there is one thing that all truly abusive relationships have in common . . . exactly one common thread running through all abusive relationships that is the sole defining characteristic demarcating what does and doesn't make any relationship abusive.  And until the person on the receiving end of the abuse gets this, there is no chance of breaking the cycle.

So, since this thing that I broke the story on two days ago has managed to make it to the national news media, I took the time to sit down over my evening coffee last night and channeled my high school debate coach (the late Bayard Gum), specifically a few things he taught me about how to reach a logically-solid conclusion.

    And Then There Were Two

    via Detroitnews.com

Two advisers to Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich say he will formally end is campaign next Tuesday and will likely endorse Mitt Romney.

Gingrich had pinned his hopes on a surprise showing in Delaware but fell short.

He had been hinting in recent days that his campaign was nearing an end. His decision to officially shut down the effort comes as Romney has a lock on the GOP nomination.

    Rest here

Parting question... Did anyone else wonder why Newt chose to keep Callista's Angry Bird mug by his side every moment of his campaign to remind ALL female voters that he never was able to keep his pecker in his pants as a married man?

If we are to believe the drive-by media meme that's been in the political news cycle for the past week or so, we're already in the general campaign for the 2012 presidential election.  Never mind that His Mittenness is still between 468 and 594 committed delegates short of the number needed in order to secure a pre-convention majority.  Ignore the truths that Newt Gingrich is still in this race, and that Rick Santorum is still entitled to most of his delegate accumulation.  Right now, as far as the mainstream press is concerned, all we republicans should be caring about is how much money Romney can raise in order to credibly challenge Obama and who he ought to select as his running mate.

Yet again, we need to go back to Yogi Berra . . . and then go below the fold.

    Are You Freaking Kidding Me?

Just under a month ago, when the Michigan "Dele-Gate" Fiasco was still something of a big deal, one of the founding mothers of the Michigan tea party movement decided to use my current place of employment as an excuse-of-convenience to challenge my credibility, and by extension my integrity.  Because I do not permit such a challenge to go unanswered, I responded directly to her (though it never seems to have cleared the moderator's flag), as well as within Jason's post the following day (as one of the comments):

I don't know what any of y'all do or don't know about those in the sea services (Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard), but if you're going to challenge the integrity of such a person, then you'd better have proof-in-hand that the challenge is valid . . . otherwise it gets unpleasant in a hurry.

That, by the way, applies to veterans of those services as well.  As Nick DeLeeuw pointed out a few years ago, different "go" words apply in different cultures.  I'm a retired sailor, so there're plenty of tags you can legitimately hang on me, many will be accurate, and not all will be kind.  But to accuse a Sailor, Marine, or even a Coastie of being either a "thief" or a "liar" . . .

To Accomplish Replacement . . . And Why

And no, I'm not talking about Randy Richardville, though I agree that he needs to go, too.  Nope, I'm referring to a different scoundrel here.

Last Sunday, on the Dump Saul Anuzis facebook page, I wrote:

"While all of this various and sundry political talk is very fascinating, let's please keep our primary objective in mind . . . that of dumping Saul Anuzis as Michigan's RNC National Committeeman. We do need to start recruiting a potential challenger, and develop a delegate strategy (using the 2010 pool) to accumulate the votes necessary to dump him."

The conversation threads, both on the page and in the group, were starting to get a tad afield of the original purpose, which is to focus the efforts to replace Saulius Anuzis as Michigan's Republican National Committeeman.  Best to stay focused here, as we only have about seven weeks left to work with.  Grab a pot of coffee, and let's go below the fold.
