    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    Busses Have Consequences

I remember well a certain story told about Chuck Yob and the 1992 Republican National Convention.  During the 1992 Republican Presidential Primary Campaign, Pat Buchanan had finished better than expected in state primaries (frequently a strong second), even though President Bush, sr., had won every single statewide contest.  Nevertheless, Buchanan's campaign wanted to use their "victories" as a reason to exert some influence over the national platform, obtain some delegate seats, and receive a few favorable speaking slots.

That year, Yob was the chairman of the credentials committee, and during one of their meetings was invited into a side room into a conference with Rich Bond (then the RNC Chairman) and President Bush.  Bay Buchanan, Pat Buchanan's sister and campaign manager, was expected to be making an appearance at the meeting, and the president had some instructions for what he thought needed to be done.

What Bush wanted Yob to do was to let Buchanan lay out her entire case, put all her cards on the table.  After that, he was to spend the next 5 hours picking apart all of her arguments, and keep her in that room arguing her case for the rest of the afternoon.  And then, at 4 o'clock, he was to give up and let Buchanan have whatever she was still asking for.  She'd take the story back to her people that they'd fought all day with the establishment, and at least got them to give ground on what really mattered.  The story that would go back to the Bush supporters that they'd negotiated all day with the challenger's team, and finally given them their way on some positions that really didn't matter . . . for the good of the party.

I think that there is a lesson taught here that really should have been applied to the 2012 Republican Presidential Primary Campaign . . . and the 2012 Republican National Convention (especially when viewed in light of the 1964 campaign).

Two advisers to Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich say he will formally end is campaign next Tuesday and will likely endorse Mitt Romney.

Gingrich had pinned his hopes on a surprise showing in Delaware but fell short.

He had been hinting in recent days that his campaign was nearing an end. His decision to officially shut down the effort comes as Romney has a lock on the GOP nomination.

    Rest here

Parting question... Did anyone else wonder why Newt chose to keep Callista's Angry Bird mug by his side every moment of his campaign to remind ALL female voters that he never was able to keep his pecker in his pants as a married man?

If we are to believe the drive-by media meme that's been in the political news cycle for the past week or so, we're already in the general campaign for the 2012 presidential election.  Never mind that His Mittenness is still between 468 and 594 committed delegates short of the number needed in order to secure a pre-convention majority.  Ignore the truths that Newt Gingrich is still in this race, and that Rick Santorum is still entitled to most of his delegate accumulation.  Right now, as far as the mainstream press is concerned, all we republicans should be caring about is how much money Romney can raise in order to credibly challenge Obama and who he ought to select as his running mate.

Yet again, we need to go back to Yogi Berra . . . and then go below the fold.

Ben Swann, "Reality Check" anchor at WXIX-TV in Cincinnati (FOX-19), has been following some of the shenanigans that have been going on as the Republican Party has been engaging in a coordinated strategy of process manipulation and political larceny, with the apparent goal of leveraging the coronation of Willard Mitt Romney (the Rockefeller blueblood elite heir-apparent) as their nominee to lose to Barack Hussein Obama in November.  A video history pulled from the Reality Check YouTube Channel follows the break.

Following The Paper Trail and Noticing The Missing Links

So, is it a 274 delegate margin, a 233 delegate margin, a 173 delegate margin, or a 116 delegate margin currently separating Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum?  How deeply is Newt Gingrich locked into third place?  And if Ron Paul's been mathematically eliminated from a statistically certain pre-convention majority, then why is he still campaigning?  We know the answer to the third question (at least we think we do), but those first two aren't mere academic questions, and answering them might help in understanding why Anuzis and his Backroom Band are sticking to the meme that Romney is supposed to get both of Michigan's at-large delegates to this summer's national convention . . . in spite of all the verifiable evidence otherwise.

And while we're at it, we're going to connect a few dots and see what we see.

When it comes to conspiracy theories, I tend to take the advice God gave his prophet, Isaiah:  "I'm warning you!  Don't act like these people.  Don't call something a rebellious plot, just because they do, and don't be afraid of something, just because they are.  I am the one you should fear and respect.  I am the holy God, the LORD All-Powerful!" (Isaiah 8:11-13, CEV)

But I gotta tell you; some of the "off the radar" developments swirling around on the periphery of the Michigan Dele-Gate fiasco have me wondering just what the hell is going on behind the curtains in those back rooms.  And specifically one development has me intrigued.

If we're to believe the drive-by mainstream media (Such as The Ticket, Politico, Washington Post, Reuters, Associated Press, and CNN among others), then this here republican presidential primary is all but a done deal.  With all that orange on the map below, everyone else should just quit now.  Michigan's native son is the only one with a clear path to victory, so let's just call it good and move on to the general campaign.

Apparently Team Romney has never heard of a guy named Yogi Berra, or the concept of there being a reason that we actually play the games.
