  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

Because The Question Needs To Be Asked

When it comes to conspiracy theories, I tend to take the advice God gave his prophet, Isaiah:  "I'm warning you!  Don't act like these people.  Don't call something a rebellious plot, just because they do, and don't be afraid of something, just because they are.  I am the one you should fear and respect.  I am the holy God, the LORD All-Powerful!" (Isaiah 8:11-13, CEV)

But I gotta tell you; some of the "off the radar" developments swirling around on the periphery of the Michigan Dele-Gate fiasco have me wondering just what the hell is going on behind the curtains in those back rooms.  And specifically one development has me intrigued.

Michael Moore Incites Children to Violence

This is one of those things that arrived in the email, and as many stories that seem so absurd, it nearly made the trash can immediately.  Instead, I actually followed up and verified Michael Moore is attempting to engage school age children in a way that encourages their immature development to rise up and take to the streets, ala Egypt:
"We are, right now, living in an amazing moment of history. And this moment has happened because the youth around the world have decided they've had enough. Young people are in revolt -- and it's about time.

You, the students and young adults, from Cairo, Egypt to Madison, Wisconsin, are now rising up, taking to the streets, organizing, protesting and refusing to move until your voices are heard. Effing amazing!! It has scared the pants off those in power, the adults who were so convinced they had done a heckuva job trying to dumb you down and distract you with useless nonsense so that you'd end up feeling powerless, just another cog in the wheel, another brick in the wall. You've been fed a lot of propaganda about "how the system works" and so many lies about what took place in history that I'm amazed you've been able to sort through all the bs and see the truth for what it is. This was all done in the hopes you would just keep your mouths shut, get in line and follow orders. And don't rock the boat. Because if you do, you could end up without a good job! You could end up looking like a freak! You've been told politics isn't cool and that one person really can't make a difference."

    What he said.  "effing amazing."

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

    Happy Patriots' Day

235 years ago today, the first shots fired that brought us this great country opened the revolutionary war. In the Battle of Lexington and Concord the first shots rang out between British and American soldiers, starting America's fight for freedom.

While we go forward talking about our liberties, and the efforts at Tea Parties in Michigan and otherwise, take just a few moments to change perspective to one that might reflect the hopes and aspirations of our founders as they defended their own liberty and freedom from British rule to become self governing.

If you are on the left.. challenge yourself to place your personal political ambitions in contrast to the sacrifice made by those who gave you the ability to pursue them.  Consider seriously why you might support someone who says "I will not allow you free association" through blockage of right to work legislation. Isn't that quite un-patriotic?

    Happy Patriots' Day Michigan.
