Two advisers to Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich say he will formally end is campaign next Tuesday and will likely endorse Mitt Romney.

Gingrich had pinned his hopes on a surprise showing in Delaware but fell short.

He had been hinting in recent days that his campaign was nearing an end. His decision to officially shut down the effort comes as Romney has a lock on the GOP nomination.

    Rest here

Parting question... Did anyone else wonder why Newt chose to keep Callista's Angry Bird mug by his side every moment of his campaign to remind ALL female voters that he never was able to keep his pecker in his pants as a married man?

    Mitt and Ron Paul remain... (5.00 / 1) (#1)

... kinda makes you wonder how the other candidates would have done if they'd sent Corinthian Scales a note asking him to pleasepleaseplease hate on them too.

    ...so does Paul.

A fitting assessment for the lingering Paulestinians:

    Mish-Mash

    1. These Ron Paul people just make me laugh now. Like clockwork, every time I say or write anything about Ron Paul and his islam-appeasing nonsense (like Iran should totally have nukes, because that's just "fair", and that if he had been president during WWII and knew of the Nazi "final solution" that was being carried out, he wouldn't have interfered and entered the US into the war) the emails flood in. And they are all the same. They all say "Ron Paul is not an anti-semite, and if you weren't such a Jew-loving Zionist stooge, you would know that." And then the cultic, crazy starts with the claims that Ron Paul is the one and only hope and salvation for the human race, and that I'll be eating crow here in a few weeks when Mitt Romney voluntarily steps aside and crowns "Dr. Paul" as the Republican candidate. In other words, many of these Paul people are completely delusional. Finally, I had one guy tell me that I should support Paul because "all of the college-aged kids support him." Uh, yeah. You know why? Because the mindless, degenerate little brats all want weed legalized. None of them could spell "fiat money" if you put a gun to their head.

    2. Which leads to a question: If Ron Paul is so great and virtuous, why hasn't he said anything about Obama's ineligibility? Hmmmmm? Additionally, Ron Paul, by continuing to serve as a member of the United States Congress, the same Congress that has not passed a budget in something like 1100 days, is himself in violation Article I, Section 9, Clause 7 of the Constitution by continuing to participate in a Congress which REFUSES to produce a budget. A person of true integrity and principle would have resigned in protest long ago. This applies not only to Paul, but to EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF THE HOUSE AND SENATE. It's called treason.

Frankly, it might be advantageous for Willard if Uncle Squeaky goes Third Party.  He's the perfect one to siphon votes from Barry Hussein Oweblamebush Downgrade much like John Anderson helped Reagan win in 1980.

Rand though... if he has any real aspirations of seeking higher office, he's gonna have to address the Jew hating wake of his father's followers.  Simply running a campaign on Free the Weed, Don Black money, and Musloid love is not going to get Rand to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. anytime in the near or distant future.

    Beyond annoying . . . (none / 0) (#4)

. . . but not really surprising.  Let's take a Survivor-style walk down memory lane, shall we?

    • Herman Cain
    • Michele Bachmann
    • Jon Huntsman
    • Rick Perry
    • Rick Santorum
    • Newt Gingrich

With the exception of Huntsman, all of them were much more credibly conservative than Mitt Romney has any chance of being, and all of them (Huntsman included) were much more credible leaders than Ron Paul has any hope of aspiring to.

But every single one of them was essentially forced out by national and state Republican Party leadership, who are damn near altogether uninterested in any nominee other than the one who has bought and paid for his turn at the nomination.  (Mittens outspent his rivals by at least 5-to-1, and in one instance by as much as 20-to-1.)

Yes, I just said it:  On the assumption that Mitt Romney heads up the ticket, the 2012 republican POTUS nomination was bought and paid for, with the RNC being the entirely-too-willing peddlers.  I won't speak for anyone else, but I'll be focusing my efforts on the downticket stuff.

So I suppose that I need to go clothespin shopping.
