  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

RNC Says "Senators & Congressmen Lied Too"

The RNC is going to take advantage of the short window where media is actually questioning 'Dear Leader.'

Starting today, the Republican National Committee (RNC) is launching robocalls and targeted Facebook posts urging Americans to call their representatives and ask why they supported President Obama's lie that people could keep their healthcare plans under ObamaCare.

The RNC is targeting eleven Democrats who support ObamaCare, including nine U.S. Senators who voted in 2010 to make it more difficult for Americans to keep their insurance. The effort includes Senators Mark Warner (VA), Mark Begich (AK), Dick Durbin (IL), Kay Hagan (NC), Mary Landrieu (LA), Jeff Merkley (OR), Mark Pryor (AR), Jeanne Shaheen (NH), and Mark Udall (CO), as well as Representatives Bruce Braley (IA) and Gary Peters (MI).

    Peters' targeted call script?:

"I'm calling from the RNC.  President Obama and the Democrats said you could keep your healthcare plan under ObamaCare. Now we know REPRESENTATIVE PETERS actually made that same promise. Call REPRESENTATIVE PETERS at (313) 964-9960 and ask why he lied. This call was paid for by the RNC (866) 279-8125.
    Its a good point.

Call those who voted for it in the first place and ask why THEY lied as well as the boss liar.  Make them explain how they could not have known, unless of course they were not reading the bill, in which case they should resign right away as inept negligent, and incapable of service as a US representative or senator..

    RNC Chairman Reince Priebus says

"We now know the President's repeated promise that Americans could keep their insurance plans if they liked them was a blatant lie. In 2010 President Obama and the Democrats were warned about this very issue and deliberately chose to make it more difficult for Americans to keep their insurance. Americans should call their representatives and ask why they supported the ObamaCare lie."
    Indeed.

Though not a fan of Robocalls personally, I agree that the RNC needs to capitalize on the southward jet-stream momentum of the liar in chief.

At least until the Gods of the Copybook Headings blow the winds of change back in his direction.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

Sundays Divertere: Common Core is to Education as Obamacare is to...

Remember folks, Rick Snyder wants youth enslaved to this Federal dumbing-down agenda.

"I think the Common Core is a really important opportunity, and I think it's a good thing," Snyder said Monday in Detroit, where he was joined by U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan. "Unfortunately, it's been too much about politics. Too many people in our country ... are looking to fight someone for the sake of fighting."

And necessarily bankrupt oneself. (mixing a little Obama-ism in there)

Health care exchanges that WORKED have been around for a while. Karl Denninger at the Market Ticker demonstrates how the ACA has screwed us using one of those exchanges for comparisons from 2013 to 2014.

I put it to the test, and I have determined that I will not have insurance after November of next year.

First, Thank God that we did not establish a 'Michigan Exchange' and then read the article, then compare for yourself.

    Cronyism And Your Choices

Interesting and piece about misplaced generosity today.

The MEDC, under pressure to show successes is feeling the heat as it reports little to no success for all the money taxpayers have ponied up over the years.  But hey, as Beck says: "Things are gonna change, I can feel it."  The Cap Con reports

"Michael Finney says the Michigan Economic Development Corp. has turned over a new leaf.

"Gone are wild bets on unproven technologies," the president and CEO of the quasi-governmental and private entity said in a recent press release.

Finney's comments came in response to what he called, "overheated news reports," of an Auditor General report that said only 19 percent of the original jobs projected by the MEDC came to fruition. Finney said that the report also concluded the program was "effective."

Yeah.  In a 'teachable moment' kind of way.

Those of you who know me, might have heard the ads I ran for the 104th district State rep seat.  Running against one of the biggest supporters of crony capitalism Wayne Schmidt, I felt it might make a difference to talk about that particular blight on public service.  The ads said:

"My family and I have taken our share of risks pursuing independence and prosperity for over 15 years. Our business has had good and bad years, yet throughout it, we've never asked, nor expected the government to make it any easier through grants or incentives like the ones given to those favored by Lansing's elite.

Yet we still pay for those incentives. And so do you.

In fact, our incumbent representative recently expanded those incentive gimmicks with HB5477, costing us even more.

Picking of winners and losers continues in Lansing, yet the chosen winners often fail. And what the the bureaucrats risk, is not their own paycheck, but ours

Its time to stop this practice of political constituency. Its time to send a champion to fight for you in Lansing, to challenge the increasing bureaucratic mess that threatens our very liberty. To stop political reward schemes, and pandering to those who would bankrupt the state's ability to pay its bills."

And then asked for a vote in the primary.

Unfortunately, I was not successful, and Michigan was rewarded with a third term of pale pastels in Republicanism from the North, expanded medicaid dependency, and implementation of Obamacare in Michigan. One vote perhaps not enough to stop it all, but one that would have ended an incumbency and sent a message.

Ask yourself why certain politicians; Snyder, Schauer, etc.. have such difficulty revealing their donors.

Could it be those donors are the same people?

This will be a short 12 months.  Pay attention folks.

Elitist GOP Factions Shoot Both Feet

Its pretty bad when a KOS contributor decorates the wall of RightMichigan.com with an underlying truth.

In the side twitter bar the question

"What? After paying for #AFP/#RTW #Tentgate 2012 Dick DeVos' Greg McNeilly now anti-#MITeaParty?"

    appears.

Having been a part of the RTW/FTW effort, I must say I was quite pleased with the impetus placed on FTW in Dec 2012 by Dick DeVos and Ron Weiser, without which, it might never have happened.  But it isn't a free pass for the abuses laid out by operatives of the GOP, and in particular the MiGOP club which doubled down on the national slaparound the tea folk have been getting from media and complicit (Vichy) Republicans.

December 2012 WAS important though. Snyder at the time might have even overcome a bit of the reaction to the Prop 2 debacle by Michigan's labor unions, but a reminder that anything he had done good was outweighed by cronyism, unilateral international transactions, and the promise of tax increases that moved him.  Truthfully, if not for Weiser and DeVos RTW might never have come to be.  It never was a part of Rick Snyder's agenda, and never really will be heart-fought from ongoing union boss opposition.

    Remember that.

Something those two saw that the governor could care less about, was the strength of the Tea party movement within the GOP construct.  There was a very real possibility that the governor, sans a significant policy delivery to the base, would face a primary challenge (perhaps by the sitting AG) thus creating a divide in the 'acceptable' GOP hierarchy.  The AG, already on record as opposing the Obamacare Exchanges, Medicaid Expansion, and showing significant support among the Tea types worried the power brokers.

And those "wackos" were brought under control, right?

"...balance their budget based on what's actually in their checkbook not what they wish was there."

After replacing the MBT with a State Income Tax Hike, plundering retirees pensions, cutting the Homestead Tax Credit, electioneering with Democrats, continuing to gift illegal aliens over $900M annually, and passing Obamacare Snydercaid, the guy I see in the propaganda video above is the best argument presented for a Part-time State Legislature.

Go work on growing your second chin, Jase.  Like Snyder, you're the problem.

    Agema Endorses Bentivolio

    For good reason.

Given our support for primaries as a way of determining the most conservative candidates, it would be a little contradictory to announce opposition to a primary itself. However, there is no reason we cannot advocate for the better candidate.

Today, Michigan Republican National Committeeman Dave Agema endorsed Kerry Bentivolio for Congress.

    Bentivolio says

"Dave Agema is a veteran and a fighter for conservative principles. While in Lansing, Dave valiantly fought against big government and reckless spending. I'm honored to fight alongside him to keep this seat in conservative hands."
    Our objective. Of Course.

    Agema says

"While Kerry is busy fighting to get rid of Obamacare and keep us out of war, some establishment Republicans are busy thinking about their political ambitions and targeting Kerry. This seems to be a Tea Party vs. Establishment race. I am proud to stand with conservatives throughout Michigan in supporting Kerry Bentivolio for Congress."
    As are we.

Prior to being elected as Michigan's Republican National Committeeman, Dave Agema served 6 years as a State Representative. While in the State House, he was consistently named one of the most conservative legislators. Dave, a veteran of the Air Force and Air National Guard, is a retired airline pilot. He resides in Grandville with his wife Barb.
