I don't have a lot of time to squander on this today so, click on the headline below.
Schauer proposes hiking state minimum wage to $9.25 an hour In the mean time, Rick Snyder's MEDC and Gary Peters are tirelessly working for Corporate Welfare schemes. (3 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
Interesting and piece about misplaced generosity today.
The MEDC, under pressure to show successes is feeling the heat as it reports little to no success for all the money taxpayers have ponied up over the years. But hey, as Beck says: "Things are gonna change, I can feel it." The Cap Con reports "Michael Finney says the Michigan Economic Development Corp. has turned over a new leaf.Yeah. In a 'teachable moment' kind of way. Those of you who know me, might have heard the ads I ran for the 104th district State rep seat. Running against one of the biggest supporters of crony capitalism Wayne Schmidt, I felt it might make a difference to talk about that particular blight on public service. The ads said: "My family and I have taken our share of risks pursuing independence and prosperity for over 15 years. Our business has had good and bad years, yet throughout it, we've never asked, nor expected the government to make it any easier through grants or incentives like the ones given to those favored by Lansing's elite. And then asked for a vote in the primary. Unfortunately, I was not successful, and Michigan was rewarded with a third term of pale pastels in Republicanism from the North, expanded medicaid dependency, and implementation of Obamacare in Michigan. One vote perhaps not enough to stop it all, but one that would have ended an incumbency and sent a message. Ask yourself why certain politicians; Snyder, Schauer, etc.. have such difficulty revealing their donors. Could it be those donors are the same people? This will be a short 12 months. Pay attention folks. (4 comments) Comments >> By Corinthian Scales, Section Multimedia
Give them an inch,... By JGillman, Section Multimedia
Michigan has its share of "collaborators" with the Obama Pelosi plan of destroying our economy.
One of them targeted by Americans For Prosperity advertising is Mark Schauer..
But next to Schauer's capitulation with the leftist agenda is the liklihood of that by 1st district seat contender Gary McDowell. (below the fold) (3 comments, 90 words in story) Full Story By live dangerously, Section Multimedia

Activist Training, Held in Jackson Thurs. Went to the following Tuesday.
-----link----- I had also signed up earlier in the day for the phone town hall being put on by the National AFP which included speakers Jim Demint and Michelle Bachman. The problem was that they were going on at the same time. So there I was listening to my cell phone in one ear and trying to catch as much of the Jackson affair from the other. Needless to say I missed a lot. But I also need to say I learned a lot. Early on it became apparent that I could get more out of the Jackson affair than the national town hall. I still listened to my cell phone but only keyed into certain parts. My attention was drawn to the live show. I'll post later if I can find a recording of the telephone townhall. Chicken littles are everywhere, just not in their districts meeting with their constituents. The entire New Hampshire congressional delegation has been put on the back of milk cartons. Dennis Cardoza (D-CA) is avoiding his home district entirely during the August recess. Dick Durbin is in the running for the most hypocritical of the chicken littles, as not only is he not doing any townhalls, but is meeting with lobbyists instead. Alan Garyson (D-FL) actually did do a townhall - in a union hall. Here in Michigan, Democrats such as Bart Stupak and Mark Shauer are just hiding under their desks in their district offices. No townhalls. Unless you count telephone conference lectures from the reps to the constituents a "townhall." It's not. Last week, a rally was held at the office of Mark Schauer, who is taking some flak for avoiding his constituents like they had the swine flu and he had no immune system. Last week, the Jackson Citizen Patroit had this:U.S. Rep. Mark Schauer's decision not to have town hall meeting fuels plans for rallies. more below the fold... I received a mailing recently from 7th District Congressman Mark Schauer, "prepared, published and mailed at taxpayer expense." It illustrates a semi-tractor with the US Capital Building being towed behind it. The Semi with Capital Building attached is just a rollin' down the highway bearing down on Michigan taxpayers and businesses, "get out of the way, we are out of control!" is the subliminal message of the picture.
President Obama is driving the truck, Congressman Schauer is seated next to him in the middle and Governor Grandholm is seated at the right hand window. All three are bringing higher taxes, more regulation and added costs to Michigan taxpayers and businesses that will in turn drive more businesses out of business here in Michigan. The sad fact is that "Business Out Of Business" seems to be their goal. These three have been told over and over again that higher taxes and more regulation drives business out of business and yet these three keep piling on higher taxes and more regulation and businesses keep leaving the state. What are they thinking? These three just don't get it. When business goes out of business people lose their jobs. When people lose their jobs they can easily fall into a life of poverty and dependence. Wait a minute, maybe that is what these Democrats want, more people out of work and dependent on government. Yes, that's it! The more people out of work the more people are dependent on government. These Democrats actually want more and more people dependent on government, the Democrat kind of government, BIG Government, Democrat Government. You see Democrat Government is government of Democrats, by Democrats and for Democrats! This is the Obama, Grandholm, Schauer kind of government! Democrat government works for Democrats but not for the people of Michigan or America! By apackof2, Section News

"I trust the American people, while Mark Schauer trusts big government." Tim Walberg today announced he is running for the U.S. House of Representatives. "The people of south central Michigan are hard working, entrepreneurial and care deeply for their community, but are struggling mightily due to excessive government spending, recent tax increases, and a big government that is squashing hope and economic opportunities," said Walberg "I cannot sit idly while Congressman Schauer votes to raise taxes, spend trillions we don't have and bring the failed Granholm strategies he advanced in Michigan to Washington D.C. In contrast, I will fight for Michigan families by working to balance the budget, move America toward energy independence, and provide across-the-board tax relief to reward hard work and spur job creation. I trust the American people, while Mark Schauer trusts big government," Walberg concluded. (1 comment, 472 words in story) Full Story
