All the perks, but none of the responsibility.
Apparently, its good to be Andy Dillon. At least in terms of taking home a nice fat government sized paycheck. Snyder appointed the former top house Democrat, (remember this) Andy Dillon to the Michigan's top money collecting position in 2011, raising a few eyebrows from Republicans. In October of 2013, personal issues caused him to resign the six figure salaried position, again raising eyebrows; this time curious as to where he might end up. Assisting and advising the incoming treasurer was expected, but apparently its still going on, and its like he never left: "Dillon is being paid about $174,000 a year -- the same salary he received when he was treasurer. What what what? First off Mr Johnson, it was YOUR wife who raised nearly a $billion to fund the 'Chicago Way' which was brought nationwide. Secondly, Dillon is one of your guys. Send Julianna over to his crib with a pledge card for Mark. He could use the company anyhow. By JGillman, Section News
Seriously, ANYONE could win Michigan's US Senate seat being vacated by Carl Levin.
At least if Gary Peters is all the Democrat party has to offer. The RNC has targeted a number of politicians who parroted the Obama lie:"You can keep it .." in the run up to passage of the ACA. They will be running a series of ads pointing out the many times each of these folks opened their pieholes to mislead constituents in this regard. The Michigan ads will initially be radio spots like this one (modified for Peter's name used instead) saying: "So what's your New Year's resolution? Here's one you can keep. Resolve to keep [Senator/Representative] honest in 2014.And its based in fact. From the Ivory Tower in 2009: " .. Illegal immigrants won't be covered, Peters said. Medicare benefits won't change, and will include no co-pays for preventative care and a reduction in drug costs. And Congress isn't being treated any differently than anyone else who has employer-covered insurance, Peters said. You know, it seems as if those might just have been 'talking points' to keep the natives from getting too restless about the takeover of a quarter of the economy. No, really! Though this is very serious, It still reminds me of a joke. Go below the fold and I will pass it along. (6 comments, 888 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News
As it turns out, the RNC has made another Subtle statement with the Lie of the year trophies.
Because of liberal policies, manufacturing over time has had to find other havens where makers of such products as TROPHIES can do so competitively. The Dems have consistently advocated higher taxes, and unrealistic workplace rules that hamstring domestic manufacturing to the point of closure or relocation.
Fewer makers of wealth and even fewer workers yet. Yep. How appropriate that the awards offered to those Democrats are from those places that carry so much of our debt. By JGillman, Section News
I found this story funny, though the subject is far from it.
Apparently the RNC has awarded a number of vulnerable Dems a special award for their participation in the American catastrophe known as Obamacare. " Rebecca Coffman, a press assistant at the RNC .. holding the trophy outside Senator Mary Landrieu's office before presenting it to one of her staffers. "We'd like to present Senator Landrieu with the Lie of the Year award on behalf of the Republican National Committee," she said.At least he took it. No sore losers there, right? Gary Peters, who will probably lose to whomever runs for US Senate in 2014 received the award above for his part in bringing forward the end to the US constitution. By Corinthian Scales, Section News
Remember this?
Then there was the suspended investigation. The outcome below the fold. (272 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News
Rick Snyder used a Chicago Democrat and (BIG) Obama Donor to run his transition team.
Rick Snyder then selected a Democrat to be the state treasurer. Then Rick Snyder used him to assist in selecting another Democrat to manage Detroit. Race was used in the selection process, contrary to the Michigan constitution; article 1, section 26. Then Rick Snyder gave the Chicago Democrat a cushy job in Michigan state government making $140k a year. Oh yeah.. BIIIIIIIIG Tent. By JGillman, Section News
I am not celebrating this as a way to point out the insipid nature of Harry Reid and Michigan's US Senators.
They already fulfill a centuries old prophesy that politicians eventually would be not born, but would instead be excreted. Indeed, of all the dumb things Democrats could do with US Senate rules, this one takes the cake. It's called the nuclear option for a reason. Democrats will regret this decision when Republicans take over the Senate in 2014 and win the Presidency in 2016. It was only a few short years ago that the GOP held the Congress and White House. The RNC as a great research piece on what top Democrats said then....
In 2005, Then-Sen. Barack Obama Called For His Colleagues Considering The Nuclear Option To Think About "Protecting Free And Democratic Debate." SEN. BARACK OBAMA: "Mr. President, I rise today to urge my colleagues to think about the implications of what has been called the nuclear option and what effect that might have on this Chamber and on this country. I urge all of us to think not just about winning every debate but about protecting free and democratic debate." (Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL), Floor Remarks, Washington, DC, 4/13/05)

Only the perpetually stupid could continue to ignore this.
The unapologetic praise for a system that holds no chance of meeting promises made and already broken, is continuing unabated. The use of the term Obamacare as an endearing term, instead of the official title "Affordable Care Act." Appropriately connecting the dots from Obamacare to Medicaid expansion; a feat that be performed only with enablers and collaborators in our State Senate and House. When the bleeding edge of the socialist/fascist movement in this country praises our governor for expanding welfare; a move that promises to explode in our face in 3 years time? Yet losing the seat to a Democrat is the fear that would keep cowardly Republicans voting for Rick Snyder? Could anyone remind us all here why his winning really matters again?
