    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.

Mr. Finley, Exec Patterson: Enough is ENOUGH!

The level of establishment skullduggery being demonstrated in Oakland Co shows no limits.  Now, we have Nolan Finley, deciding to carry the Patterson/Cassis water with propagating a new "whisper campaign" with seeds of intent to malign Republican CD-11 candidate, Kerry Bentivolio.

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson was disappointed in the outcome of the primary vote and wasn't sure if the party establishment will rally around Bentivolio.

"I don't know what the party will do," Patterson said. "He is our nominee. I don't agree with his libertarian views, but there are issues we can find common ground on, like repealing Obamacare and the $15 trillion national debt."

What's to do, Brooks?  You and your cronies support the only Republican, Kerry Bentivolio.  C'mon Brooks, get that big old swollen Teddy Kennedy-sized head of yours out of the peoples way: you're obstructing the Party candidate.  It's bad enough to have Third World voting Schostak in Lansing dumping on Mr. Bentivolio, but I never expected to read a hastily slapped together before the AG announcement, Finley piece pushing the 'Nutty Nancy' propaganda mill too.

Contributing to the hesitancy of GOP poobahs to embrace Bentivolio Wednesday were rumors that his campaign will be touched when Attorney Gen. Bill Schuette issues election fraud indictments Thursday in the McCotter ballot petition fraud investigation.

That dive into how a veteran congressman allowed a failure to collect enough valid signatures to bounce him from an office he'd held for 10 years is expected to produce fascinating findings that could go beyond McCotter's office and staff.

Opinions piece based upon agenda rumors, Nolan?  Unnecessary.  Sorry, Mr. Finley, but YOU really owe Mr. Bentivolio, a HUGE apology.  And you actually wonder why Kerry declined speaking with you?  You're some piece of work, Nolan.  Your employer must be so proud.

Like before, The Buck Stops with McCotter.  AG Schuette Press Release, here.

Schostak Flirting With a Potential Keith Ellison-D in CD-11

I just happened to catch this little gem from the Worst Party Chair EVER via The Detroit News.

Bentivolio will face Dr. Syed Taj, a Canton Township trustee, in November. Cassis congratulated Bentivolio, but did not offer an endorsement.

Bobby Schostak, chairman of the Michigan Republican Party, offered a mild endorsement of Bentivolio at a GOP unity event in Lansing, but would not commit the party to spending money in the 11th District to help him win.

"It's obviously difficult to have a write-in campaign. He succeeded. He's a Republican on the ballot, and we intend to send a Republican to Washington. Plain as day," Schostak said.

"We'll evaluate the races equally and where possible we'll invest in races."

Later in the day, the Michigan Republican Party issued a memo emphasizing that the 22,276 Republican write-in votes "beat" the 21,952 votes Taj got in his Democratic primary victory against Bill Roberts, a Lyndon LaRouche activist from Redford Township.

The memo also noted Bentivolio received more votes than Taj and Roberts combined.

With Taj as the nominee, Democrats see the 11th District as a possible opportunity to capture a Republican seat that would have been unimaginable six months ago.

So, the only Republican on the ballot in CD-11 receives "He succeeded" in an all-out  orchestrated smear campaign waged against him.  That besmirching of Kerry Bentivolio, actually happened at the MI-GOP "Unity" event for Hoekstra?  What strange bedfellows.  Pete, and John, where's all that 'Relentless Positive' talk from folk in Party Leadership for, Mr. Bentivolio?   DRIC Nerd make no likey for Kerry-san too?  DRIC Nerd has not been afraid to poke his nose into Oakland Co politics before, so that is a reasonable question to raise.

Wow!  What a take away from it all.  Unbelievable.  Well, maybe it's not so unbelievable considering that Chair Schostak was gushing over adding the 2010 MEA, UFCW, AFL-CIO, MI AFSCME, AFT endorsed Democrat, Roy Schmidt poisoning the Party well.

The CD-11 agenda is obvious.  If Chair Schostak isn't signaling the local Party's that he is willing to aid them with noncommittal messages to get their Chosen One elected on Sept 5, then nothing is.  Folks in CD-11, you're now being played at the state level.  Without doubt.  The state level players have said that you are incompetent dummies that need your candidate selected for you by networked hierarchy folk with money.

Frankly, I'm not sure where the grassroots stand anymore after their successful ouster of NPV Saul Anuzis and his ties to the Anyone but Hoekstra senate candidate, but if this kind of ongoing election manipulation such as "DELE-GATE" by establishment is to ever end, replacing Saul and Holly, with the Honorable Rep. Dave Agema, and Terri Lynn Land, was just the beginning.

    Bobby Schostak, has to go.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

Good Grief: Now Patterson is Blowing Smoke with a Lottery Scheme

Half-baked L. Brooks Patterson just can't stop himself from placing his ham-handed electioneering fingers into any CD-11 event that should be decided by voters.

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson is renewing his call for Republicans and Democrats to narrow their selection to one candidate to avoid the cost of a special primary election to fill the term of former U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter.

Um, Brooks .. there is only one Democrat from Local 245 in the special election.  AND there was only one Republican that filed well in advance too, well, until the cabals write-in candidate and her endorsing former state legislator and current Livonia council president, undoubtedly squeezed that Livonia civics grapevine enlisting at least two other filers covering for write-in Nansee Crassis.

Patterson said Tuesday that both major political parties should hold a lottery to pick one Republican and one Democrat in order to avoid a special primary election Sept. 5.
    ....

"This is about fiscal responsibility," Patterson said in an early morning statement. "If there is only one candidate from each party running, there is no need to spend tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars on a special primary election.

"It's ridiculous to spend that amount of taxpayer dollars on a special primary election for just a couple weeks in office."

Fiscal responsibility?  Really?  Sorry bub, you tossed that meme out the window with pushing the DIA tax hike.

But, OK, Brooksie, have your handpicked crony, MBT author and Corporate welfare write-in candidate drop out first.

    Deal?

You read that right.  After the signature gathering primary election fact, smear merchant write-in Nancy voted for expanding Crony Capitalism that continues to spell doom in Pontiac, and Corporate welfare in Detroit.  Her vote.  Sure, ringleader L. Brooks Patterson is able to appear as the mack daddy of SE Michigan, if, or the reality is, when Oakland County is able to keep them taxpayer subsidized, write-in Nancy approved pie plates spinning in the air.  All it takes is for folk like them, is to reach into Joe Taxpayer's pocket to do it, and now, L. Brooks Patterson is pushing the DIA tax hike too.

"Taxes go to projects that are worthy, whether we use them or not," Patterson said, noting that when he travels around the world to recruit business, he is always asked about schools, neighborhoods and cultural amenities. "The DIA is a huge opportunity for me to answer that question in a positive way. It's an economic development tool for me."

Or not?  Holy bejesus!  Why don't you have another cocktail, Brooksie?  You too, Nolan.

    Now, the truth below.

    Kerry's Obvious What?

Nolan Finley of the Detroit news correctly assesses the CD11 Primary race between Kerry Bentivolio and the write-in candidate who (having more money than common sense) is willing to cough up $200k of her own money.

But he takes a shot at the Veteran, Engineer, Teacher, Reagan organizer, Farmer, in a rather underhanded way that is confusing.  When talking about her strategy of attacking Bentivolio, a statement without foundation (as is often done by smug editorialists) is made:

"She doesn't need to pound the negatives of Bentivolio, the tea party activist, reindeer farmer and school teacher. Nor does she need to extol her superior qualifications. Both are obvious."
    What?

Perhaps you could elaborate Mr Finley? What is so obvious that it required merely a cheap shot from your pen to prove?  That he is crazy because he is a reindeer farmer? Or a teacher?  Help us out here.  And WHY is she superior?  Because she could pass a tax (the MBT) that is now threatening to have consequence on the budget because it was written so poorly?

    Uh Oh.

Lets talk about obviousness. The write in candidate has her own issues.  Those including the fact she was AWOL when the opportunity arose to throw her name into the mix along with Bentivolio for the Republican nod.  OF COURSE she could have not known that McCotter had a crappy team working for him, and would put the district in play for primary action.  But like all other races, there are primaries for a reason.

They help us select the best candidate going forward from the perspective of the party electing them.

A late entry as if she is saving the party is pretty obviously a play for a faction's control of that seat.  Obviously, Brooks isn't happy Kerry is not his best bud.

As an aside, if she is willing to spend HER OWN Money so recklessly, it should be a concern to those voters who would put her in the house that allocates money that is NOT HERS.

Never Let A $650k Crassis Go To Waste

What a set-up to cover for Nansee. via The Detroit News

Former state Sen. Nancy Cassis said Friday she has filed enough petition signatures to get on the ballot for a special primary to fill the seat left vacant when U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter resigned from Congress.

Cassis of Novi said she filed 2,000 signatures, twice the minimum needed to qualify for the election. Also filing Friday for the Republican nomination are Kenneth Crider, with 1,100 signatures, Steve King, with 1,200, and Carolyn Kavanagh, with 1,276. All three are from Livonia.

    Rest

The City of Livonia should be ashamed.  David Curson who?  Nice 'deal' with Brewer, Bobby.

You'd think that, after the shellacking that Saul Anuzis received a couple of months ago, the Michigan Republican Party would've got the hint that the grassroots in this here state isn't putting up with their crap anymore.  Given that there's already a project underway to break the cycle of abusive behavior of state party leadership by replacing the corrupted party leadership (all the way down to the county party level, where necessary), you'd think that the elites would consider themselves on notice that getting their RINO asses in line is going to be the only way that they save their skins during the internal party elections that will be following the November general election.

Apparently, someone at MIGOP didn't get the memo.
