    Something To Rally Around

The Michigan state house education committee has received three bills worth checking out.

Each one promoting a better understanding of the history of our country and the reasons for its founding.

    • SB121 essentially encourages schools to set aside one week a year where the students are actually exposed to the founding documents, not as tangential history, but why the compact and the constitution was developed.
    • SB120 removes the perceived shackles placed on public instruction with regard to the readings of historic records.  Heaven forbid (pun intended) that johnny hears the word God when a reading of the federalist papers, proclamations, etc.
    • SB423 Encourages the schools to provide instruction focusing on the principles of the Declaration of Independence (self evident truths), the US Constitution (our compact), and the Michigan State Constitution. It also requires the state Board of Education to update curriculum and testing standards to cover these subjects.

Hopefully not too late, as much of the indoctrinated are already teaching.

But we applaud such measures as worthy and restorative for our state and country.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

    Because Right Is Right

There is no need to recap things leading up to the A&E debacle with regard to Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the Duck Dynasty clan.

However, since then, and in only a day's time, more people have declared they are standing with Phil on a single Facebook page, than have signed up for Obamacare. Over ONE MILLION likes in 24 hours hardly says this nation is tired of traditional values.

A&E is perfectly within its right to censure Mr Robertson of course.  They are within their right to stand with the 2% of the population that is disproportionately affected by venereal disease and confusion with our developing youth.  They are perfectly within their right to commit programming suicide to salve the sensibilities of the overly emotional Eloi who base their identities on acts that defy nature's (God's) laws.

And God bless em for their 'free will.'

So tonight (December 19, 2013 - 7:13pm) the family Robertson has responded.

We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support.  The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E's decision.  We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word.  While some of Phil's unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart" and "Love your neighbor as yourself." Phil would never incite or encourage hate.We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm.  We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty.   Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.
To which I have one thing to say.

I sure feel even better now that I went and spent a few bucks buying their product last night.

I'll sleep well, knowing I'll help them do the same.

As it turns out, the RNC has made another Subtle statement with the Lie of the year trophies.

Because of liberal policies, manufacturing over time has had to find other havens where makers of such products as TROPHIES can do so competitively.  The Dems have consistently advocated higher taxes, and unrealistic workplace rules that hamstring domestic manufacturing to the point of closure or relocation.

Fewer makers of wealth and even fewer workers yet.

    Yep.

How appropriate that the awards offered to those Democrats are from those places that carry so much of our debt.

Lie Of The Year Trophies Awarded

I found this story funny, though the subject is far from it.

Apparently the RNC has awarded a number of vulnerable Dems a special award for their participation in the American catastrophe known as Obamacare.

" Rebecca Coffman, a press assistant at the RNC ..  holding the trophy outside Senator Mary Landrieu's office before presenting it to one of her staffers. "We'd like to present Senator Landrieu with the Lie of the Year award on behalf of the Republican National Committee," she said.

    "Ok," said the staffer.

"For lying to her constituents about keeping their plans-"

    "Alright," he said.

"On behalf of the Republican National Committee," she concluded.

Another staffer laughed. "That's pretty funny!" he said.

    "It is," said the first.

    Others were less appreciative.

The receptionist for Senator Mark Begich, a vulnerable Alaska Democrat, was particularly unamused. "You're kind of a jerk," he told Coffman after accepting the trophy

At least he took it.  No sore losers there, right?

Gary Peters, who will probably lose to whomever runs for US Senate in 2014 received the award above for his part in bringing forward the end to the US constitution.

Sorry Charlie, err, Joshua, however, besides same last names, you two do have the same stench.

Last week, following offensive comments about LGBT Michiganians [those would be Michiganders] from Michigan's Republican National Committee member Dave Agema, Michigan Republicans collectively failed to take any action to hold Agema accountable for his hate speech. Republican Gov. Snyder was complicit in this, telling a Lansing radio host "I'm not getting into that."

Hate speech my ass, signed Wolverine. Furthermore, if the Ann Arbor Nerd wasn't such a flaming Progressive surrounding himself in Obama funding secrecy, his answer for Medicaid Expansion would have also been, "I'm not getting into that."

Every stupid thing on The Left has become an ongoing distraction from reality.

    H/t Market Ticker

Sit and spin on that one, Mr. deflector of communications for the Michigan Democratic Party.

Benjamin Disraeli might say  "Damn your principles! Stick to your party."

In Michigan, many might agree. So much so, or in a way to retain some political control or power over others.  But Dwight Eisenhower would reply: "A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both." Because power is money.  Money is power but Ralph Waldo Emerson would note that : "A man is usually more careful of his money than he is of his principles."

    Indeed.

Snydercaid Expansion with cool Obamacare Clawback Provisions

The Flim-Flam Man and his Nerdpublicrat majority nailed folks good this time.

Expanded Medicaid's fine print holds surprise: 'payback' from estate after death

As thousands of state residents enroll in Washington's expanded Medicaid program, many will be surprised at fine print: After you're dead, your estate can be billed for ordinary health-care expenses. State officials are scrambling to change the rule.
    ....

Dr. Jane Orient, executive director of the politically conservative Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, writing in the The Washington Times, called the recovery provision "a cash cow for states to milk the poor and the middle class."

"People will think this is wonderful, this is free insurance," Orient said in an interview. "They don't realize it's really a loan, and is secured by any property they have."

Even states that are now limiting estate recovery, she warned, can change the rules again if budget problems become more intense.

    Unclear rules

One reason this snafu has become so troublesome is that ACA rules appear to give those who qualify for Medicaid little choice but to accept the coverage.

People cannot receive a tax credit to subsidize their purchase of a private health plan if their income qualifies them for Medicaid, said Bethany Frey, spokeswoman for the Washington Health Benefit Exchange.

    REST

All the way from One Big Ass Mistake America, to Vote, No Vacation Snyder and his faux-conservative Gen Xer toadie - the Mitten State is screwed.
