  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

Sorry Charlie, err, Joshua, however, besides same last names, you two do have the same stench.

Last week, following offensive comments about LGBT Michiganians [those would be Michiganders] from Michigan's Republican National Committee member Dave Agema, Michigan Republicans collectively failed to take any action to hold Agema accountable for his hate speech. Republican Gov. Snyder was complicit in this, telling a Lansing radio host "I'm not getting into that."

Hate speech my ass, signed Wolverine. Furthermore, if the Ann Arbor Nerd wasn't such a flaming Progressive surrounding himself in Obama funding secrecy, his answer for Medicaid Expansion would have also been, "I'm not getting into that."

Every stupid thing on The Left has become an ongoing distraction from reality.

    H/t Market Ticker

Sit and spin on that one, Mr. deflector of communications for the Michigan Democratic Party.

The Flim-Flam Man and his Nerdpublicrat majority nailed folks good this time.

Expanded Medicaid's fine print holds surprise: 'payback' from estate after death

As thousands of state residents enroll in Washington's expanded Medicaid program, many will be surprised at fine print: After you're dead, your estate can be billed for ordinary health-care expenses. State officials are scrambling to change the rule.
    ....

Dr. Jane Orient, executive director of the politically conservative Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, writing in the The Washington Times, called the recovery provision "a cash cow for states to milk the poor and the middle class."

"People will think this is wonderful, this is free insurance," Orient said in an interview. "They don't realize it's really a loan, and is secured by any property they have."

Even states that are now limiting estate recovery, she warned, can change the rules again if budget problems become more intense.

    Unclear rules

One reason this snafu has become so troublesome is that ACA rules appear to give those who qualify for Medicaid little choice but to accept the coverage.

People cannot receive a tax credit to subsidize their purchase of a private health plan if their income qualifies them for Medicaid, said Bethany Frey, spokeswoman for the Washington Health Benefit Exchange.

    REST

All the way from One Big Ass Mistake America, to Vote, No Vacation Snyder and his faux-conservative Gen Xer toadie - the Mitten State is screwed.

Besides Rick Snyder, same 'ol same old... Amnesty for gatecrashers.

The immigration overhaul passed by the U.S. Senate could put a big squeeze on the budgets of state and local governments.

The proposal does not help states pay for costs incurred by required policy changes, including ramped up English classes and greater access to public hospitals and health clinics.

"Potentially, we are going to create a financial catastrophe for states and localities," said Sheri Steisel, senior federal affairs counsel and a human services expert at the National Conference of State Legislatures. "The states will end up with the cost and consequences of the federal decision-making, with very little resources to rely on to make up the difference."

    MORE

Not that the self-invented Nerd persona since being sworn to his Oath has done a damn thing about that "big squeeze" anyway.  Why Hell, stealth Democrat Rick Michigan has even fought his own Secretary of State, Ruth Johnson, over providing gatecrashers a driver license, squashing voter verification, and placing the Lawless to the front of the line ahead of American citizens.

Michiganders must really enjoy being little more than Debt Slaves.  Wolverines - do not.  Frankly, I don't see a snowball's chance in Hell that Snyder will be a second term anything in this state, but go ahead "liberty-minded network" with squandering your time and resources on Calley.

Everything That Needs to be Known About Nerdpublicrats

Teh Stoopid Party in Michigan remains dead to me.

If anything, Majority Leader Randy Richardville said, he saved Gov. Rick Snyder from a big defeat more than two weeks ago by not calling a vote on House legislation to expand eligibility for government-provided health insurance to 320,000 low-income adults in 2014. The Republican governor had cut short a trade trip in Israel to return home and lobby the GOP-dominated Senate.

"I think he was convinced that the votes were there. I'm in the room where those votes get counted," Richardville, of Monroe, told The Associated Press in an interview Wednesday, the day he outlined his expectations for a Senate workgroup that will study Medicaid expansion this summer.

"This debate, this issue, is alive because I provided leadership on this issue based on the feedback from the Senate Republican caucus. This thing was dead if we had taken a vote when it was being demanded that we take a vote. It wasn't a gentle request. There was a demand and then after the demand there was a - they called it a press conference. I've got other words to describe it, but I'm not going to use them."

Give him credit - he came through, we read.  A special thank you, we read.

GMAFB. There isn't enough paint on the planet for trying the "happy face" schtick with loser Snyder and Schostak at the helm.

It just makes my blood boil that my taxes are paying for this.

What a lying Progressive slovenly attired Hillary pantsuit-esque uniform wearing Corporatist slime-ball.  There is no such thing as "free" monies.  Rewarding bad governmental behavior will only decimate every state dumb enough not to see the Feds are offloading their debt onto them.

One provision of the law [ObamaCare], the bulk of which goes into effect next year, expands state Medicaid coverage to individuals earning less than 138 percent of the federal poverty level. In exchange, the federal government will provide 100 percent reimbursement for the expandedcoverage for three years, phasing down to 90 percent in 2020.

"The fastest thing that's going to go when we're cutting spending in Washington is a 100 or 90 percent match rate for Medicaid. There's no way. It doesn't matter if Republicans are running Congress or Democrats are running Congress. There's no way we're going to keep those match rates like that," said Ryan, who added that he has spread the warning to Republican governors and the National Conference of State Legislatures.

Word from chair ShowStak on any of this Nerd treachery?  Crickets chirping.  Willard, and his V.P. selection were your chosen boys, Bobby.  Senate candidate Terri Lynn Land?  Nothing but tumbleweeds blowing through Deadwooden shoeville.

"You have already consumed your daily caloric intake of 2500.  Please report to the nearest State Dept of Excess for purging."

What?  You didn't expect that your health choices would matter any longer?

By golly those house Dems and Republicans sure your bad choices don't get worse under the free for all expansion of health care I guess. Body Mass Indexing is a believable end result of 'state provided' health insurance. By golly maybe my concerns have been answered? Jack McHugh notes the new "creepy" rules:

"Under the bill, enrollees would pay more unless they "demonstrate improved health outcomes or maintain healthy behaviors as identified in a risk assessment by their primary care practitioner." Dr. Edison characterizes as "creepy" the requirement that doctors must track and report to the state whether their patients have met that standard."
Regularly scheduled doctor visits to make sure you don't bloat.

OR .. Engage in other risky behavior; do drugs, drink, engage full promiscuity, same sex ..stuff, stare at the sun, hang glide, etc..

    Precious.

Can State Senate supporters of expanding medicaid still think its such a good idea?
