I be lovin' the 'ol rumor mill today. Oh, what fun... via detroitnews.com
Could Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder be a vice presidential pick? Ya right, don't bust your arm patting yourself on the back, Rick. 5th worst.
"There is that perception that Michigan still has a ways to go," said J.P. Donlon, editor in chief at Chief Executive Group. "We haven't received much in the way of feedback that evidences the changes are yet significant for them at this stage." Actually, Snyder makes a lot of sense for Romney, especially when the Obamneycare debates start in the general election. Snyder is the only governor pushing hard for the Health Insurance Exchange. That should be a huge clue that the GOP heir apparent will merely tinker with retooling the ACA. Wanna bet $10,000 on that? LOL
Now, the ultimate upside for Conservatives in Michigan? It gets governor milquetoast the hell out of our hair so Right-To-Work can be pursued without Snyder's obstruction. Calley expanded government with pushing his pet insurance coverage mandate through, so it'd clearly be to his advantage to work towards the R-T-W goal. If not, then Calley has made himself an easy primary target in 2014. The possible Win-Win outcomes presented are limitless. (1 comment) Comments >> By Corinthian Scales, Section News
"If I were elected and Congress were to pass the DREAM Act, would I veto it?" Romney said, repeating the question a voter asked him at a campaign stop in Le Mars. "The answer is yes." - 12/31/2011 By Kevin Rex Heine, Section News
You may recall that, a couple of days ago, I mentioned the initial Dave Agema endorsement list. I'd like to point out that not only has that list expanded considerably, but that expansion includes one very high-profile "get" that ought to, in my opinion, qualify as a major indicator of the intentions of the tea party insurgency for the Republican Party apparatus.

Certainly the credentials committees are ALWAYS straight up and honorable.
A predetermined candidate would have no problem with an integrity breakdown in Michigan politics. By golly OUR credentials committee would NEVER stoop to this miserable level of candidate manipulation, right? Right??? "This year, the Wisconsin GOP is on track for something like 2,000 delegates, which would be double the largest state convention. The majority of those are opposed to Tommy Thompson. Nah. Our guys have integrity. Character matters. (2 comments) Comments >> By Kevin Rex Heine, Section News
Break out your ever-handy Michigan Highway map and any random dark-colored Sharpie marker. Using a steady hand, trace the Sharpie along the I-69 corridor, from the Bluewater Bridge all the way through Kinderhook Township. In so doing, you've just drawn the major battle line of the Anuzis vs. Agema contest for the office of Michigan's Republican National Committeeman.

Yesterday, State Representative Dave Agema submitted his Convention Candidate Affidavit of Candidacy to the MIGOP Policy Committee (via the State Party Chairman), complete with the approval signatures of eight district chairs. Now, it's officially on. And an indication of how this campaign is going to be fought is the name that's showed up on my caller ID five times in the past 36 hours (though he somehow hasn't yet seen fit to leave a message on my voicemail).

You may remember me mentioning the Independence Caucus of Michigan in the context of the 2010 Michigan Secretary of State Republican Primary or this year's republican U. S. Senate primary. However, a couple of days ago I received an e-mail from a key member of the organization's leadership that indicated that they'd be getting involved in one of this year's convention races.

Two advisers to Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich say he will formally end is campaign next Tuesday and will likely endorse Mitt Romney. Parting question... Did anyone else wonder why Newt chose to keep Callista's Angry Bird mug by his side every moment of his campaign to remind ALL female voters that he never was able to keep his pecker in his pants as a married man?
