Today, Snyder, Schuette, Johnson, and a host of others took their positions up as wished upon them by the voters in this state.
Rick Snyder: "We need to stop being divisive and be inclusive. We have spent too much time fighting among ourselves, and have become our own worst enemy," Tell me you didn't write that yourself, and that you borrowed it from the Center for Michigan. Inclusive perhaps, if it is inclusive of the reality that leftist policies brought us here. This "moment of opportunity" you mentioned at another point, is indeed that. Sir, If you go down the road of everybody gets their pet project saved, we won't be using that opportunity very well. This is an opportunity to perhaps share a little of the reality the taxpayers who are NOT employed in state government, must endure. De-certifying the unions would be a good start in helping the State employees KEEP their jobs. I was the worst critic of the nerd before he won in the primary. I must admit however, I have been pretty silent on Snyder's expected performance because I think we can make a lot of noise that doesn't much matter at this point. When he screws up, we will be right there. The event today had Snyder talking about his family's prior service in the capitol. His maternal grandfather apparently was a custodian there. kind of a neat story actually, demonstrating the level in which a family can grow in Michigan, and in this nation once revered as the basket of opportunity of the world. Opportunity in Michigan and nationwide destroyed by the type of leftist Marxism exhibited by Snyder's predecessor and the wrecking crew known as our current federal administration. We can at least start the healing now. ~ more below ~ (6 comments, 722 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News

Some question has been raised as to why several Michigan daily newspapers have endorsed Jocelyn Benson (D) instead of the clearly better-qualified Ruth Johnson (R) for Secretary of State. The answer requires an understanding of newspaper editorial boards, rather than an understanding of the candidates. Most local newspapers are granted a high degree of autonomy by their corporate ownership, when it comes to editorial policy. Endorsements in a presidential or gubernatorial race might be dictated, but rarely an endorsement below that level. Newsmen and editorial writers of local papers are generally"soft-left", fitting the characterization of mainstream media. Elections featuring several offices pose a problem for that mindset. The editorialists want to be seen (and see themselves!) as thoughtful and even-handed. They feel their influence in a community will be compromised if the public sees the local paper as overwhelmingly one-sided. Thus it is required that a demonstration of thoughtful deliberation and "fairness" be reflected in the editorial page endorsements before every election. And how does all of this translate itself for the 2010 election in Michigan? ~ The answer below the fold ~ (1 comment, 409 words in story) Full Story By Chad, Section News
George Soros has publically stated that, for all intents and purposes, he will be sitting on the sidelines during the 2010 mid-term elections. While it may be true that his overt spending will be minimal this cycle his past efforts will more than likely determine the outcome of many statewide senate and gubernatorial races. Unfortunately, it may not be very pretty for the GOP.

Republican Michigander has jumped on a topic I have been mulling throughout the day. He points out how its to the point of distraction with the nasty back and forth with people hiding behind anon type names, and dividing us:
"The enemy is Jocelyn Benson, an ACORN supporting, George Soros "Secretary of State Project" supported, "Vote protection"(who thinks vote fraud is a myth) supported, SEIU supported, Goldman Sachs supported, candidate for the democrats. My suspicions lead me to believe it may not be who we think it is behind much of the garbage tossed about in the last day or so. I can tell you this however: A major player in this negative campaign is doing it on the taxpayer dime, from Lansing, in one of those little offices provided by the legislative council budget. You know who you are. I will soon enough. (3 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
As many of you know, we have determined the source of the signature gathering, and set up of "The Tea Party" of Michigan political party. As it was expected by most political observers, Mark Brewer's gang of liars cheats and thieves was found to be complicit, and without question the origin of the fraudulent placement of the party on the ballot through the signature process. The question of course, is what to do about it.
The MI GOP is not laying down to be kicked for this one.. Not this time. Lansing, MI--Challenges on the Steffek Tea Party were filed this week on behalf of Republican candidates across the state.
Initiated, and achieved.. More below. (6 comments, 483 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News
If you were running as a precinct delegate, you were called. If you won one of those seats, you were called again.. twice.
If you managed to swing a seat at the state convention, you might well get a personal call from one of the candidates.. Maybe from a family member. Any stories to tell yet? (4 comments) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
the "Tea Party" of Michigan candidate slate is (as Beckmann put it) essentially the Toledo Mudhens of the Michigan Democrat Party, we can proceed with a plan of action that embraces their choices of political maneuvering.
Embrace it.. Now some of you might think that coming up with new Green Party candidates to fill the ticket might be the appropriate response. I know that the temptation to tit-for-tat gerrymandering of people's leftist tendencies is great, but we don't operate that way.. The Green Party will do that all by themselves just fine. We don't need to slip into the same deceptive methods that only bring us to their level. A good friend of ours would have agreed I think, but he is no longer able to say so. I am in the unusual position of being on a ballot twice. I had filled out the paperwork for a delegate spot, and the last minute decision to run for county commission doubled my exposure..
And I have found that running for delegate is like putting on a perfume that attracts a certain species of politico. All of a sudden, mailings from prospective SOS, and AG candidates appear, and special surveys for delegates become a part of the daily calls coming in. And I was never one of the popular kids in school. I have to say, the ability to cast a vote for a strong Attorney General Candidate as well as the Secretary of State to go forward and face the choice of the Dems is quite a special deal. At least the attention paid to those who might would suggest it is. And they are right. (6 comments, 749 words in story) Full Story
