    SOS and AG races?

I am in the unusual position of being on a ballot twice.  I had filled out the paperwork for a delegate spot, and the last minute decision to run for county commission doubled my exposure..

And I have found that running for delegate is like putting on a perfume that attracts a certain species of politico.  All of a sudden, mailings from prospective SOS, and AG candidates appear, and special surveys for delegates become a part of the daily calls coming in.

And I was never one of the popular kids in school.

I have to say, the ability to cast a vote for a strong Attorney General Candidate as well as the Secretary of State to go forward and face the choice of the Dems is quite a special deal.  At least the attention paid to those who might would suggest it is.

    And they are right.

The AG race is an easy one.  It doesn't seem there is any question that Schuette is going to be the guy.  With a strong presence in all counties, and a network of law enforcement support, he is a shoo in. (Am I wrong?)

All Democrat hands however, are on deck elsewhere

The Democrat party has chosen their best candidate for the SOS. Jocelyn Benson, who has pledged an "oath of non partisanship" in her bid for the coveted spot is the Democrat's singular hope for maintaining any semblance of power in government after this fall's election cycle.

And when I say "coveted," I mean it.

The SOS position is a keystone of the efforts of the progressives that occupy and entertain the big labor strategies.  Benson is seen as an attractive candidate who is the best chance for labor to expand vote manipulation methods and fraud.  "Non partisan" in her eyes would likely mean no preference between slightly socialist and overtly marxist (the left and further left parts that occupy the party of the a$$) Democrats.

With great ideas like voter registration while in high school and no reason absentee voting coupled with same day registration, Benson is a vote manipulator's dream.  And she has all the right friends too

Now..  I am not saying Benson herself is of questionable character..  Its just sometimes you might get judged by who you hang with... And those who would use your bad ideas to their ends.

But Republicans need to have someone who is capable of beating her, knows who she really represents (Labor, Soros, Stryker, etc..) and isn't afraid to campaign hard and take no prisoners.  This is a big deal, and Brewer's crew will likely ignore all else to focus resources on this race.  In fact, they have already shown no signs of strength in the AG race putting up David Leyton, who is perceived as a weak candidate state wide, and likely will not see a Democrat governor because of the incredible mismanagement of their last pick who can be tied to them.

So that leaves the Secretary of State.

I had endorsed one candidate early, and since rescinded because of my disagreement on the smoking ban issue, but there are three candidates for SOS that have my attention.  These are listed in no preferred order.  I would actually like to get some feedback on this.

The first would be Anne Norlander.  She has been an active campaigner, and started going out state early seeking support for the nomination.  she WANTS the job. It has been said a decidely competent administrator as well.

Second, is Cameron Brown.  Not seeing as much from him in my area, but cannot find an official site either.  I know he stood up to the smoking Nazis in the Senate though.

Third, is Ruth Johnson.  Ruth caught me off guard.  As I was ready to lean Norlander she showed up and wowed a few at a 912 meeting here.  Unfortunately I was not there, but more than one person commented to me on how she is a strong advocate of election integrity. Though none of the candidates would argue for the lack of such a thing, there is a passion she shared that really brought confidence to the message.

I would like to know more about all three... And who would be best positioned to take on the entire democrat machine in Michigan this time around?

. . . for Cameron Brown and the other Republican SOS candidates you didn't mention:

    Cameron Brown:  http://www.cameronsbrown.com/

    Michelle McManus:  http://www.michellemcmanus.org/

    Paul Scott:  http://www.scottforsos.com

By the way, this particular Precinct Delegate is leaning heavily in favor of Anne Norlander, but I am canvassing my neighborhood to get their impressions and opinions (because I will be representing them at the state convention).

I sincerely wish you all the best in the race(s) you are undertaking, clearly a great example of "putting up" as it were.  I too find it interesting how many "new friends" are made when votes are up for grabs.

However,  I would respectfully disagree  the Mr. Schuette is a schue in and whole heartedly ask that you at least aknowledge the Libertarain/Republican out of St. Joe who is running for AG.  Mr. Schuette is rather overbearing in his tactics and I for one am not the least thrilled that he will become the "top cop" in November.   If Liberty is indeed the battle cry for this election, we really need to be looking for individuals willing(and capable)to preserve it.

I think by far the most important races to watch are the governor's office and the Legislature. Economy. Economy. Economy. We need candidates who are prepared to cast tough votes in favor of rationalizing the size and scope of government and reducing taxes on companies so as to encourage job development in our state. We've seen 40 years of "economic nondevelopment" policies where bureaucrats pick winners and losers. It's time we stopped trying to swim upstream and made some serious reforms that put Michigan on the map.
