    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

Endorsement-Gate, is this how the game is played?

On November 19th, 2012, I received a call from a staffer on behalf of Michigan Republican Party Chairman Bobby Schostak, asking me for my endorsement for his reelection. At least three times during the phone conversation, I stated, "I want to see who else is going to run first, I will NOT make an endorsement for anyone until January. If I do decide to endorse Bobby, I will give you a call back in January." I still haven't called back.

On December 8th, 2012 while attending the Michigan Republican Party State Committee Meeting, I came across a pile of fliers. "Bobby Schostak for Chair - Overwhelming Grassroots Support!"

It was a list consisting of State Committee Members, District Chairs, County Chairs, Tea Party Leaders, and Grassroots Activists. Going through the list, my endorsement appeared, Oscoda County Chairman - Doug Davis.

I was immediately upset and offended that my statement of not endorsing ANYONE until January was not taken seriously, even after stating it THREE TIMES, especially being the newly elected Oscoda County Chair for the Michigan Republican Party!

To make matters worse, an email of the list was sent out on December 7th, 2012 to the entire state Republican Party, which I didn't receive until the day after the State Committee Meeting.

We have, several times on this site this nearly-past year, made the case that current Michigan Republican Party Chairman Bobby Schostak doesn't deserve a second term at the helm of state party.  And while I haven't begun to make the case in detail yet for his ouster, I should probably note that at least one challenger has already formally announced.

If you didn't happen to be at the Michigan Republican State Convention in Detroit back in May, I'm sure that you still probably heard the account of the "Showdown In Motown" where various liberty-oriented types gathered together to send a message to the MIGOP party elites.  The message, that we are sick and damned tired of their crap, was sent loud and clear in the blowout victory of Dave Agema ousting Saul Anuzis as Michigan's Republican National Committeeman.  Agema's choice for the vacancy nomination to the Michigan Supreme Court has been known for awhile, but the press release didn't get put out until two days ago.  I thought you'd like to read it.

As I mentioned a little over a week ago, the iCaucus of Michigan went through the endorsement process for most of the candidates in the contested races at the Michigan Republican Party State Convention coming up next weekend.  Invitations were sent out, questionnaires were completed, interviews were conducted, and endorsement votes were cast.  The results, and the press release, follow the break.
