Endorsement-Gate, is this how the game is played?

On November 19th, 2012, I received a call from a staffer on behalf of Michigan Republican Party Chairman Bobby Schostak, asking me for my endorsement for his reelection. At least three times during the phone conversation, I stated, "I want to see who else is going to run first, I will NOT make an endorsement for anyone until January. If I do decide to endorse Bobby, I will give you a call back in January." I still haven't called back.

On December 8th, 2012 while attending the Michigan Republican Party State Committee Meeting, I came across a pile of fliers. "Bobby Schostak for Chair - Overwhelming Grassroots Support!"

It was a list consisting of State Committee Members, District Chairs, County Chairs, Tea Party Leaders, and Grassroots Activists. Going through the list, my endorsement appeared, Oscoda County Chairman - Doug Davis.

I was immediately upset and offended that my statement of not endorsing ANYONE until January was not taken seriously, even after stating it THREE TIMES, especially being the newly elected Oscoda County Chair for the Michigan Republican Party!

To make matters worse, an email of the list was sent out on December 7th, 2012 to the entire state Republican Party, which I didn't receive until the day after the State Committee Meeting.

    Continued below ~

Multiple times I tried to contact Schostak's campaign. My district chair had called the staffer I mentioned, only to be told it was a "misunderstanding".  There was only one time they called back, which I unfortunately missed the call later that night. The next morning I called back twice, only getting no answer, so I left a message. Frustrating me more, I never heard from them again. What gives?

Even though I have tried to contact Schostak's staffer about the issue, making them aware of the problem, my name is still on their list of endorsements! Why haven't they removed this "misunderstanding"?

For myself, I do feel as though I have been taken advantage of with me being new to the party and in a role of leadership, due to my youth and inexperience in party politics.

No good could come of this if I am not the only one; it is not healthy for such actions to take place in the party. There should be no room for this.

I will be seeking a personal phone call of apology from Chairman Schostak himself, removal of my name off his endorsement list and for them to throw out all the fliers of his endorsements that have my name on them.

Being new to leadership for the Republican Party, while looking forward to furthering the success and growth of the Republican Party in Michigan, this has all put a bitter taste in my mouth. For myself, I can't believe the game is played in such a manner!

    Respectfully submitted,
Douglas Davis Jr. - Oscoda County Republican Party, Chairman

These entrenched folk infesting Team R would've worked against you if they knew upfront your answer was/is a stated "NO" when they asked.

Yup.  That is how the old guard money grubbing Team R players roll.

    I'm shocked.

    Shocked, I tell you.

    Welcome to politics.

Dirty tricks isn't limited to only those with a "-d" after their name.

. . . from Decider Strategies (apparently consulting for Schostak's re-election run).  They asked for my support.  I told them "NO" in no uncertain terms, and referenced this article in my reply.
