If you didn't happen to be at the Michigan Republican State Convention in Detroit back in May, I'm sure that you still probably heard the account of the "Showdown In Motown" where various liberty-oriented types gathered together to send a message to the MIGOP party elites. Pete Hoekstra's campaign has made the decision to spend the money necessary to purchase a Super Bowl ad to run in key Michigan media markets (Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Marquette, Lansing, and Traverse City) just before kickoff in Indianapolis. Naturally, the Michigan Democrat Party is not pleased.

Ever since the Scopes Monkey Trial (about a half-dozen generations ago) the onset of postmodern intellectual elitism has steadily moved to progressively denigrate and marginalize Christianity within the public square, with the seeming goal of ultimately eradicating it altogether. Whether in education, entertainment, news media, or the courts, the God of the Bible is routinely ignored, mocked, ridiculed, or worse by the postmodern liberal elites. (This has gone so far as to have the public declaration that "God is Dead" as front-page headline news.)
All of this has happened without much by way of any effective pushback. To judge by what we read in the press or hear on the evening news, Christianity is a useless and outdated superstition that isn't good for much more than giving the common folk something to fear and providing them with some hope of salvation to cling to. The enlightened members of the intellectual elite, we are told, are above and beyond such drivel, and we should aspire to be like them. Then again . . .

From all corners of the globe we have been attracting attention with the activities of the tea parties. In this clip you might even recognize a few of your friends from Michigan.
Funny how even with a language difference, it makes more sense than our national media attempts of explaining the tea parties. By JGillman, Section News
Most should realize by now, that it was not the conservative philosophy that buried the state's manufacturers and automakers in unsustainable expenses. It wasn't constitutionalists who raise taxes so the government can buy more poverty. And it could generally be said that the "right wing" principles of responsibility and accountability are making a resurgence.
Not so sure about that? Take a look at nearly any community of 1000 or more in Michigan on the 15th of April. You will see people gathering to celebrate responsibility, and sending a message to our government that what is going on, is NOT working! What you will see is the message that conservatives have been talking about ...forever. In fact, even as the media tried to down play conservative pull back in the Republican party, more folks on both side of the fence were starting to wake up to what is truly happening around them. They looked at Detroit.. (1156 words in story) Full Story
